Taylor returns to Miami for one reason

Jason Taylor's return to the Miami Dolphins had nothing to do with money. "It was all about family," agent Gary Wichard said. And so it was. Though there was talk about Taylor going to New England the former All-Pro defensive end really wasn't all that interested in the Patriots or anyone else. If the Dolphins hadn't agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal Taylor probably would have retired. In fact, I would have banked on it. Taylor returns after one year away from the Dolphins, and he returns as someone determined to prove something -- basically that he still has something left. Give Taylor credit: He walked away from a big day in Washington to take less money ... a lot less money ... and stay close to his family.

Taylor returns to Miami for one reason

The MIAMI DOLPHINS are the defending AFC East Champions. So go smoke a pole Jets and Patriots fans. Its gonna be another long year for both your sorry franchises. That must be really strong kool aid you guys are drinking down there.

One div win by a tie break over the Pats no less and suddenly the Phins are a model franchise calling both the Jets and Pats sorry franchises. You have been through 5 head coaches since 2000.

My comment about the Jets posting wins against the fish was basically to laugh at the notion that you are calling a franchise that has whooped up on your team for the last 9 yrs (13-5) pathetic.  You eeked out a win, barely took the division from the Pats, went one   and done in the playoffs (1st time in 7yrs), and embaressed yourselves in the playoffs 27-9 against a rookie qb, as well as chad throwing 5 picks against the Ravens defense (coached by Rex Ryan). And now you have the pretentious attitude to call other franchises poor ?

Looks like you guys have all the history to back up your talk and call other franchises poor and pathetic.  <----- SARCASM :  for those Dolphins fans who still don't have a clue that you need a little more acievement to back that up when you start directing the words "poor" towards not only the Jets, but a Pats franchise that has been to 4 superbowls this decade and won 3.

He walked away from the Redskins and $8.5 million because the Redskins wanted his lazy ass to work for his money instead of looking pretty all week and sucking it up on Sundays.

He'll be a situational pass rusher with the Dolphins.  Hardly worth $1.5 mil.

Good pick-up for Miami on the cheap. I don't know how he fits in their current defense but I'm sure Tony will make good use of him and find whatver he has left (like he did with Porter last year). Good luck keeping Pennington healthy two years in a row, though. If they do it it will be about the first time in his career.

If the Dolphins hadn't agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal Taylor probably would have retired. In fact, I would have banked on it.

Nice move, Judge, pulling an "I would have told you so!". This is a new an innovative sports writing tactic. Kudos.

Taylor returns to Miami for one reason

The Dolphins getting Jason Taylor back for a minimal amount is a steal for what he can do when he is used right. The Redskins paid a ridiculous amount for him and because of that tried to work Taylor until the wheels fell off...which they did. At his age and limited durability, you can't ride him every single down, every single series, every single game. You already have a natural leader...otherwise you use him to his strengths and bring your other talent in to fill in the blanks. This is a good move anyway because I think he can have another good year, maybe two then retire with the team he's done so much for and has done so much for him these past years. Dont let last year's conflict between he and Bill Parcells fool you. JT has always been a leader and stand up guy. I believe the Dolphins organization knows that to sign him back on.

Not sure how he will work in a 3-4, perhaps OLB? I'm happy he's back in any event, and at $1.5MM per year its tough to argue with the signing. Ah...and yes, the Jets have posted some decent wins against the fins over the last decade. But when was the last time they won the division? Last year? Oh thats right. The MIAMI DOLPHINS are the defending AFC East Champions. So go smoke a pole Jets and Patriots fans. Its gonna be another long year for both your sorry franchises.

I am glad to see JT back!! He will make our Defense better wherever he plays. Im sure Pasqualoni will find all kind of use for him!! As for the Jets fan. Im not scared of a team that doesnt even have a QB. You better hope Tom Jones doesnt get hurt!!
