McDaniels on Rocky Mountain high

For what it's worth, I was talking to one league executive at this week's NFL owners meetings when the subject turned to Denver. What he told me I did not know, which is that Josh McDaniels wields all the power there. I suspected he had plenty, but I was told that when the Broncos cleaned out their scouts it was McDaniels, not GM Brian Xanders, who chose the replacements. All of them. Interesting.

I imagine Journey's list of 10 horrible things about McD looks something like this

1. Trading Jay Cutler
2. Trading Jay Cutler
3. Trading Jay Cutler
4. Trading Jay Cutler
5. Trading Jay Cutler
6. Not drafting __________
7. Not signing __________
8. Trading Jay Cutler
9. Trading Jay Cutler
10. Being new to the HC job

lol

I'm not a follower of anybody, only a follower of a team. Here are three things I think are good since McD became coach.

1. Signing Brian Dawkins.
2. Drafting Knowshown Moreno
3. Upgrading the D (the NT position is questionable) There will still be 4-3 heavily involved.

If the third thing sounds bad to anybody they should look up last year's roster, building a 3-4 takes at least 2 years. I could go on too. Just because there are fewer familliars in the team is no reason to reject the team. If a team doesn't have a winning record it's a losing team no matter what excuses you can make. If the broncos once again don't have a winning record they haven't changed at all.

Journey,
I think the point made was basically give McDaniels a chance and that he had a good football pedigree.  Belicheck thought enough of him to let him run his potent offense and bitter enough to expose the trade conversation to the press. I don't know enough about him to praise him or tear him apart, but I do know the Broncos "My Team" needed a change and it would not have happened with Shanahan at the helm.  Shanahan held us hostage for too long!  THINGS WERE NOT GOING TO CHANGE, AND CHANGE IS SOMETIMES GOOD!  I have been calling for Bowlen to get rid of him for years, it was apparent he lost his mojo when he didn't have a great quaterback such as Steve Young or Elway to cover up for his mistakes in play calling.   I have been a fan since I was 8, I am now 42 so I have seen the best and the worst.  The past 4+ years have definitely been the worst for me.  Give McDaniels a chance, and until you are evaluating his personnel upclose and talking to the coaching staff, you don't know what his thought process is.  He evidently thinks some of the players he has now are better than thos he can get to work in his system, is that wrong?  Let's wait and see before we crucify him.  I've never seen a fan want their team to fail or think the worse of them before they've even taken the field.  I would be interested in seeing your 10 huge disappointments, As far as the Three:

1.Brian Dawkins
2.Robert Ayers
3.Renaldo Hill

and a bonus Knowson Moreno

By the way, who would you suggest should have been chosen as new head coach?

I have no choice but to give him a chance. I have been and will always remain a Bronco fan, win or lose. But, why is everyone complaining about McKid being in charge? We don't even know this for sure; it came from a writer who barely put 3 sentences together about this topic. I would need more proof of Josh's control than this lame duck story. Just about finally, let him run the show. He studied under Belichek for 7 years, who, like him or hate him, has an incredible record. Go Broncos. I think a solid team wins games, not the team with the most big names and salaries, ie. Washington. Let's see if this guy can motivate a team to play for each other. I think Cutler is fabulous, but he is a bit of a baby and very selfish. An NFL qb has nobody to answer to but the team and the owner. He ditched the team and disrespected the owner. If Pat Bowlen says he called and called, and texted and texted, then it is so. He has show nothing but class as an owner and has no reason to lie in this situation. When he was fed up, he dealt him. Bowlen said he was never so disrespected by a player in his time in the NFL. I believe him. He has a solid rep, built by many years of being the owner of a great franchise (that he built). So, as much as I love Cuter, Bowlen built the team I am addicted to like crack, so I remain on the side of Bowlen. It took me a while to remember this, but my team is the one that Pat Bowlen built, and he is still there, and he is still the real general, so I will soldier on with him.  GO BRONCOS.

I went to school with a lot of fine upstanding guys, but that doesn't mean they can lead a National Football League Franchise.  And for the record.....I don't want to hear ANY of you blind McDaniels followers say "Yeah, I didn't think he would last long in Denver" when his headcoaching career at Denver falls miserably short.  I too have been a huge Bronco fan long before any Super Bowls were won.  And I think that's what hurts most, is to see a guy who is completely unproven as a head coach on ANY level, come in and completely dismantle an organization that I have been a huge fan of gor almost 30 years.  Yeah Shanny should have just agreed to give up the GM position and hire a new Def. Coord. and things would be swell.  A monkey with a magic 8-ball would have had better luck managing the Bronco's offseason.  While I can name at least ten HUGE disappointment McDaniels has made as a head coach, I would challenge any of you McDaniels followers to name 3 really POSITIVE things you believe McDaniels has done since assuming the role as head coach of the Denver Broncos.
1.????
2.????
3.????

Yeah you are probably right . Just not used to all the off-season drama in Denver. Yes the schedule this year is definitely a challenging one. I'm just thinking that bowlen is giving Mckid to much power for a young first year coach. I do have faith in orton . Hes a provin winner and may not have the cannon for an arm , but knows how to manage a game and is smart with the ball.I believe Orton will fit in good with mcdaniels scheme.

I grew up in the same county as McDaniels and went to highschool about the same time. I am pretty sure we did not graduate the same time.  The kid was a stand up kid then, a stand up coach at New England, and has a good shot at being a stand up coach in Denver.  His dad was a very successful high school coach for high school that sometimes had national recognition and certainly have produced a decent number of pro athletes including football.  You are not going wrong with McDaniels as a person with a great deal of football knowledge and certainly much more knowledge than someone his age should have considering his not a retired pro.  I would put alot more trust in him than that exaggerating Minnesota coach which I dont even care to remember his name.
