Only shock will be if Stallworth plays in '09

So Donte Stallworth is suspended indefinitely. Where's the surprise? That was a slam-dunk. Now let's see what happens next, and I'll be surprised only if Stallworth is allowed to play this season.

Remember, the Rams' Leonard Little was suspended eight games when he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a 1998 accident -- and that was under a more lenient commissioner. Roger Goodell is a guy who sat down "Pacman" Jones one season for a series of run-ins, even though he never was never found guilty, and that should serve as a guide here.

Goodell is all about cleaning up this league -- or, at least, trying to clean it up -- and there's no way he goes soft on Stallworth. Stallworth's attorney said the wide receiver "acted like a man" in stopping after hitting a pedestrian "and cooperated fully." Great. He still killed somebody while driving drunk. Now he suffers the consequences. He got off easy with a 30-day jail sentence only because he entered into a plea agreement, but Goodell won't be as forgiving. There are no deals with the commissioner.

I say Stallworth is gone for this season, and that's not exactly going out on a limb. As Goodell pointed out, Stallworth's conduct was "inexcusable," and his actions caused "irrepable harm to the victim and his family," as well as the NFL. The hammer comes next. Donte' Stallworth doesn't play this year.

Stallworth should have been able to keep his vehicle under control with a bac of .126. in 1984 I was making a bottle run from a party. While takinf a drink at a stoplight, I didnt notice a state policeman directly behind me. i immediately saw the blue lights reflecting in the turned up bottle. His little machine registered my bac @ .347 and i wasnt slurring any speech or stumbling around,

Drunk driving is never an accident, this guy should be in prison, a minimum of 5 years. Stallworth was totally at fault. If I were to do the same thing it would be 15 yrs to life. He should not have been allowed buy his freedom, the one good thing is I heard he lost his driver license for life.

The pedestrian was NOT in the crosswalk!  He was running to get to a bus stop.  Stallworth and his attorney did the right thing?  They paid off the family of the killed pedestrian and the family wanted a fast closure.  Best for both parties but very unfortunate a death was involved. High profile sports athletes sometimes have to take the best road available to avoid jail time.  Such was the case with NBA great Koby Bryant of the Champion LA Lakers.  A few years back in Eagle, Colorado Bryant got in trouble with an 18 year old holel employee that went to his hotel room late at night.  He was charged with a felony involving the young hotel employee and very easily could have received several years jail time but she was paid off to the tune of 15 million dollars to the girl and her family and they DROPPED the charges!  No Wittness, no court!  So be it Stallworth or Bryant their attorneys did the best thing for their clients to avoid jail time so they could continue their professional playing careers.  We all know fans, money talks and it happens a lot with high profile wealthy people.  I hope Stallworth gets back on the football field soon and lets all put this behind us and learn from our mistakes?  He deserves a second chance!

So what you are saying is if there is no crosswalk around you can still kill someone who is trying to cross the street? Are you on drugs?

Goodell did the right thing.  This is fair and just punishment for a person that has killed someone.  Goodell also was right in his punishment for Vick.  The question arises, what is wrong with the judicial system? kill dogs and you get several years and in home arrest, kill a man... 30 days?  Vick was wrong in his actions and the feds got after him and Vick was served justice.  Stallworth, I'm not sure what he was served, but it wasn't justice.

Maybe you should educate yourself before you post anything! He WAS NOT in a crosswalk, which is a big aspect of why this plea occured.  By jay-walking he was a partial cause of the accident and not all of the liablity fell on Stallworth.   I am not defending what he did...It was horrible and he deserves to be punished.   I am really just questioning your intelligence, moron.
