Only shock will be if Stallworth plays in '09

So Donte Stallworth is suspended indefinitely. Where's the surprise? That was a slam-dunk. Now let's see what happens next, and I'll be surprised only if Stallworth is allowed to play this season.

Remember, the Rams' Leonard Little was suspended eight games when he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a 1998 accident -- and that was under a more lenient commissioner. Roger Goodell is a guy who sat down "Pacman" Jones one season for a series of run-ins, even though he never was never found guilty, and that should serve as a guide here.

Goodell is all about cleaning up this league -- or, at least, trying to clean it up -- and there's no way he goes soft on Stallworth. Stallworth's attorney said the wide receiver "acted like a man" in stopping after hitting a pedestrian "and cooperated fully." Great. He still killed somebody while driving drunk. Now he suffers the consequences. He got off easy with a 30-day jail sentence only because he entered into a plea agreement, but Goodell won't be as forgiving. There are no deals with the commissioner.

I say Stallworth is gone for this season, and that's not exactly going out on a limb. As Goodell pointed out, Stallworth's conduct was "inexcusable," and his actions caused "irrepable harm to the victim and his family," as well as the NFL. The hammer comes next. Donte' Stallworth doesn't play this year.

The real reason the BACs keep dropping is because groups like MADD are on a crusade against any drinking.
The real reason that BAC'S keep dropping is because DUI'S have become a big business in this country. Continually dropping BAC'S (i can remember when it was .15, then .12, then .10, now its .08) generates more revenues as more people will get "caught". I also find it somewhat ironic that the founder of MADD was herself later convicted of a DUI............just goes to show you the hypocracy that exists in our great country.

Two questions!!!! for all you hypocritic stone-casters.

Answers these two simple questions:

#1: Why do we have crosswalks in this world? (Pls do NOT stray from answering this question)
#2: Define the term jay-walking and why it is illegal?

100% blaming Donte for this is WRONG, 100% WRONG! and extremely hypocritic. You are ignoring Mr Reyes bad decision
to jay walk. If he wasn't jay-walking Donte would be scott free today.

Not in the crosswalk

While I do not condone drunk driving, the man was jaywalking when he ran in front of Stallworth's car.  Honestly, there were many times in my youth I had many nights I drove after having 3-4 drinks.  If somebody ran in front of my car, I would be in prison for 15 years.  In this case, the man jaywalking is more of a cause in the accident than the drinks Stallworth had that night.  Still, no football for a year is fair.

He wasn't hammered just over the limit could have been as much as 4 or  drinks total.  Thats like saying he only shot the guy once, he didn't empty the clip in him. The guy is a murderer flat out, there can be no debate.

That's what I have at the park with my dog throwing frisbee.
If you drive after 4 beers you are putting those around you in danger. I pray you get caught before you kill someone.

Otherwise he was not at fault.  If he would of been sober he might of been able to yeild to pedestrians like the law states.

4 games is what it should be.
Not only should he banned for life he should be in prison for life. I encourage you to talk with someone who lost a loved one because some idiot was too stupid to take a cab, or not drink because they had to drive.

I dont care if the victim, no disrespect, jumped out in front of the car and opened his trenchcoat to flash Donte Stallworth. Drunk driving is drunk driving and I was under the impression that we have been pushing a zero tolerance policy on that. If a man brings a gun into a bank and ends up inadvertantly using it to stop/kill a would-be robber, he should still be punished accordingly because firearms in the bank point blank period.

OK, let me get this straight.... Vick goes to prison for 20 months for a terrible crime.  Stallworth gets one month for killing a human being while drunk and speeding?

There is something horrible wrong with our society.

He wasn't in a crosswalk.  I don't know how many times I've read about this; at least a dozen, and he was not in a crosswalk, the guy was running to catch a bus.

So maybe you're lesson should be cross in a crosswalk.

Donte got 30 days for a reason....and after seeing the accident scene, I can now see why. The justice system "I Believe" got it right!

The poor girl of Mr Reyes now that's another story.. :o( my heart goes out to her man.
