Make way for Mike Holmgren.
With Tim Ruskell out of the picture, the stage is set for Holmgren's triumphant return -- and from where I sit it makes too much sense not to happen. Holmgren was loved in Seattle. He was successful there. He has a home there. He knows the team, and he hired the head coach as an assistant.
Holmgren promised his wife he would not return to football for a year and that this season belonged to her. Well, he lived up to that promise. But now the door is open, and you can bet the Seahawks will reach out to the most successful coach they've had -- only this time asking him to return as a president or acting GM.
I don't know that Holmgren goes back, but I do know there is no more ideal spot. Look, he was happy in Seattle as a head coach. He could be happy there again as the team president. I know he will be wooed by other clubs looking for direction, but I'd be shocked if he doesn't wind up here.
Holmgren to Seattle? It's a perfect fit
