Don't look for Matt Leinart in Seattle. Persons close to the team tell me it's not going to happen.
Apparently, Seattle is satisfied with its two quarterbacks, Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst, despite Whitehurst's inconsistent play this summer. But the club paid a steep price to acquire Whitehurst from San Diego and envisions him as Hasselbeck's successor, and the Seahawks didn't want to complicate the situation by introducing another young quarterback.
Plus, the Seahawks have plenty of money invested in the position.
So while Leinart going to Seattle would seem to make sense from a lot of perspectives -- with his former coach at USC, Pete Carroll, the most compelling reason -- it almost surely isn't going to happen. Seattle is happy with two quarterbacks and will wait on Whitehurst. It will not jump for Leinart.

Seahawks won't go for LeinartI do agree with sandman he will never be a starter in the big league. If he is a starter in the leauge the only two teams i can think of off my head right now would be oakland, and the bills. K.c already haves a franchise quarterback in cassel, He wouldnt be a good fit in san fran. When he came in as a rookie i knew he was goin to be a bum in the nfl. He was a good college football player, but he had alot alot of talent surrounding him.

Seahawks won't go for LeinartSF has no need for that Bum. Matt Leinart has had more than enough chances to start in the NFL and has wasted them all. If he catches on with another NFL team he will never be more than a 2nd or 3rd string QB.

Seahawks won't go for LeinartI agree SoCal.
I would love to see Leinart go to Seattle. I've never been a fan of Hasselbeck, regardless of his past luck. :P |

Seahawks won't go for LeinartSeveral years into his NFL career Leinart is still very much an unknown in terms of how good he can be and how good he wants to be. There's no way to say he'd be an upgrade for Seattle, Jacksonville, San Francisco or KC. If he can't beat out Derek Anderson or gain the respect of his teammates then he wouldn't be.
While he may or may not be an upgrade for Tampa there is no way that they would bring him in with a young guy like Freeman around...disaster situation waiting to happen if they did. |

Seahawks won't go for LeinartMatt Leinert would be a major improvement over Hasselbeck or Whitehurst. The question is what does Pete Carroll think. He knows Leinert's ability more than anyone. Is he truly happy with Hasselbeck and Whitehurst? Hasselbeck hasn't done much of late for Seattle. Never say never, not when winning is everything in the NFL. Right now, Leinert can be had at a bargain because he was released. Derek Anderson will do nothing starting for the Cardinals. There are a number of teams that would be vastly improved with Leinert as a QB: Tampa Bay, KC, Jacksonville, Buffalo, SF, and Oakland. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
