Pardon the goof; Leinart to Houston

OK, so now I know why Seattle didn't sign Matt Leinart last year. Because they had as much interest in him as they did this year ... which wasn't much.

I incorrectly said Tuesday that the Seahawks added Leinart before he signed off on a new contract. Turns out he re-signed with Houston, which leaves Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst as the quarterbacks in Seattle.

Each is 28. Each has started. Only one has played in a playoff game and had experience with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Which, I guess, means that Jackson has the edge.

Of course, we won't know until training camp. But acquiring him one year after trading for Whitehurst makes me think the Seahawks have no conviction about Whitehurst; that, in effect, they're admitting they made a mistake. I know, let the two play in camp, but importing two guys the same age within a year of one another tells me what I said before.

Namely, that Seattle still has a quarterback problem. Me? I thought they were better off with Matt Hasselbeck.

Pardon the goof; Leinart to Houston

I love this entry.  Portland and Oregon?  Portland is IN Oregon.  City and State.  I love it.  Seattle is in Washington and yes Portland and Seattle have a huge rivalry.  Too bad the Sonics left...

Based on what the other guy wrote, I think he believes Seattle is in Oregon.LOL

Two points! 1)  With your attitude, you deserve to be a 49er fan or Raider fan. You fit their profile!!! We don't need you or WANT you!!!! We have some of the best fans in the league and you would just delute the rich fan base that we have. Don't like things in Portland?  MOVE to Cal. If you opened your eyes you'd see the T.V. thing that you complain about is the same everywhere, but I'm sure your negative comments made you feel big and important. That said, and I hate to say it, but 2) I actually agree with you about the QB situation, as does the vast majority of Hawk fans. Carroll and Schnieder have made a lot of moves in the last year, some O.K., some good, some even great, but not at the position of QB. Losman?, Whitehearst? and now Jackson? Like you said, What are they thinking? Even Lienart would have been prefered. At least he would have remoinded us of Zorn and Largent. There was a reason why Whitehearst was a third stringer and Losman was dumped! They get rid of any young talent that might come out and do something great or become something if given the chance and fill their whole QB position with people that have PROVEN that they stink? Seattle does have a tendency to pick up the has beens of other NFL clubs. Whitehearst was the third worst choice in club history behind loosing Hutch to the Vikings and taking Bosworth in the suplimental draft. So they follow their bad choice with Whitehearst by getting a QB that throws the ball away or rather to the other team as soon as he has a little preasure? I see what Carroll is doing. Building a Raven like defence. Then all they need is a Trent Dilfer type QB to NOT make mistakes. So they take a QB that is known for making mistakes? Thats just wierd....STUPID!. It looks like Carroll and Schnieder should hire someone else to pick QB's. The best game that Jackson has had was 11 of 17 for a little over 300 yards? At least thats what the reporters state. I don't want to waist my time checking it out. It would be too depresssing. I've been mostly behind what Carroll is doing, building the defence, having it so that NO player is cemented into a position, having to earn their way, ect., but his moves at QB are really a basis for question. He better have a really good long term plan for QB or he is going to loose the support of Hawk fans. You don't have to have a great QB to win if you have a shut down defence, but that QB CAN'T give the game to the other team and 'thats' what Jackson is noted for doing!
You know, you don't have to like the Seahawks. I like other teams in the NFL myself. You don't have to watch them, no one is making you. Go get a dish! You can watch whatever team you want. Bashers like you need to grow some class.

Hey Judge, if you are going to work for CBSSPORTS (or even to CONSIDER moving to ESPN or the ABC family of channels), you need learn something.  NEVER admit you "goofed".  Nobody else does.  If anything, do like my man Chris Broussard does for ESPN - guess EVERYTHING and claim to be an "insider" afterwards.  Now I see why you are still in print instead of on the tube.  Watching Broussard tell us on television EVERYDAY during "the Lebron Watch" that Lebron was "most likely going to end up in Chicago, Cleveland or with the Clippers, even though Miami and the Knicks were still in play and the Nets still have an outside shot" was more entertaining than the actual decision.  It was pure artistry.

Come on Judge, STEP YOUR GAME UP!!!  Try it "my sources tell me Kevin Kolb is either going to be traded Arizona or Miami if he does not stay with Philly, though Denver, Cincy and Washington are still possible destinations".  There, doesn't that feel good?

Not overly surprising... Don't Portland and Oregon have some sort of city rivalry or something? I seem to remember the Blazers and the Sonics not being overly fond of each other and it's quite evident in the MLS now with the Timbers and the Sounders.  I agree...Seattle is foolish to think Jackson is the answer, but someone from Portland disliking a Seattle team isn't the shock of the century for me...

What are the Seahawks thinking?  This is exactly why I can not cheer for them even though I live in Portland and they are litterally shoved down our throats week in and week out just because they are the closest team to us.  How about Raiders or Niners games?  Why not go after Leinart?  At least there was a shot at him regaining even some of his USC magic with his old coach.  Tavaris Jackson?  Have they seen him play?  And Charlie Whitehurst put on the single worst performance by an NFL quaterback I have ever witnessed against Tampa late last season.  Again, I was watching that game becuase I live in Portland and we are forced to watch the Seachickens every Sunday.  Thanks Fox and CBS!!!  You guys are so thoughtful of us here in Portland!  We must LOVE the Seahawks because we live in Portland!  I even cheered against them when they were in the Super Bowl a few years ago.  Tavaris Jackson?????  Wow.
