Chad "going to the right place"

Just got a scouting report on Chad Ochocinco, and this one isn't from someone in the Patriots' organization or someone who studied him on film. It's from someone who coached the guy, and his take on the Ochocinco-to-New England move dovetails with most everyone else.

"He's going to the perfect place," he said. "It's the best possible place for him because he will fear the people there, and they have the right guys to keep him in place."

Reports indicated the Bengals gained two "late-round picks" in return, but a source close to the team on Friday told me those picks are fifth and sixth-rounders -- a price that made the Bengals comfortable. So, let's see if I have this straight, the Patriots paid a fourth-rounder for Randy Moss and a fifth-and-sixth for Chad Ochocinco? That's a lot of talent, without a lot of loss.

We know what Tom Brady did for Moss after his short stint in Oakland. The question: Can he do the same for Ochocinco? I mean, the guy is 33 and failed to produce 1,000 yards in catches two of the past three years. So what, exactly, are the Patriots getting?

"He's still quick, and he can still separate," said the coach. "My question is how he plays without any courage, and, by that, I mean he won't run routes over the middle.  I just don't know how you flip on a switch and get that going again. But the atmosphere will be so important for him. He's going to want to succeed."

"The Pats are clearly playing Blind Pocker, in Dead Man's Alley..."

Say what? Another Jets fan getting to the bottom of his cliche bag.

"The Jig is up."

I would guess 40 catches and 4 td's, but a team player who's antics will keep the team loose during the season. No he will not pout about averaging 2-3 catches a game. The other receivers are Branch, Welker, Hernandez, Woodhead out of the slot, Edleman out of the slot, Price, and that other 6'-6" TE Gronkowski. That is seven guys off the top of my head. Chad is smart and will be a possitive influence on and off the field. Brady is not like the Bengals QB.

The future of this trade is really all up to Chad Ochocinci.  If he does fear the Pats brass and some guys with rings on he put up !000 yards.  If he bitches and moans about 4 over the middle routes a game early on he's done.  He has skills but he is 33. Chad is getting a bit long in the tooth and he may realize this is his chance. Look for him as one of your WR's in a deep fantasy football format.

Chad Ocho huh?   At first I must admit, I was suprised.   But if Bill B. has the rapor with him that he states to have, maybe he'll be the next in a long line of players to come and change their ways.   He'll be another weapon, added to an already explosive offense for Brady.   As long as Tom gets decent protection, this season could be another for the record books offensively.   As far as the defense ... it was one of the youngest in the league last year ... so one more year under the belt ... Ty Warren back and Haynesworth added.   That's more experience for all and A LOT of added beef to the line.   I think the Pats are setting themselves up for another very good year and will contend for the SB once again.  GO PATS!!!

I'm sorry do I know you? I don't recall ever bashing Ochocinco for anything, but my point was, what are they risking by taking him on? Very little.. And, if he pulls any bull which I don't think he will because he seems to have respect for Bellichek then he could be helpful to us.

Great move for both Ochocinco and the Pats IMHO.   Remeber what happened the last time the Pats took an aging disgruntled player off the Bengals hands?

It's unfortunate that Pats fans minimize what Moss did in NE.    The '07 season was epic (and Moss led the drive to go ahead in SB); Stepped up big time and supported Cassel in leading the Bradyless Pats to 11-5, becoming first NFL team in history not to make playoffs with 11 wins; and then led the league in TD's in Brady's first year back with 13 TD's and if it wasn't for the catastrophic Welker injury (ridiculously left out of why the Ravens kicked the Pats out of first round) who knows what NE could have done.   Then the saddest thing about Moss's stupid post game after win v Cinn, that wrote his ticket out of NE, was that the Pats scored two stellar TE's to remedy a glaring hole in the passing game.
But could Belichick and Kraft accept Moss back.   Not a chance.  The story would only get even more interesting if the Jets got him and he faced the Pats twice in regular season and THEN in the playoffs.
now that would be quite a story.

Honestly, another genius move by BB and the Pats organization.  Two WELL ABOVE average players for a couple of bags of peanuts.  There is absolutely no downside to the Patriots if either doesn't pan out or can't get their act in line.

That team is going to be scary.

I wish the Bears organization had half a brain to just pull off ONE DECENT freaking trade... Not one per year, just one, period.

Chad "going to the right place"

Once upon a time Chad Johnson was the closest thing to a motivated Randy Moss.   Great hands, cat quick agility, and one of the best route runners ever.   Not the high end speed and vertical dominance of Moss, but everything else plus a much more precise route runner.  And that is the single reason Ocho is perfect for the route tree oriented, multiple read passing game that Tom Brady is a master at.   Brady love to spread the field and stretch the seams horizontally  and read the windows opening and closing, hitting his third and fourth read as routinely as his first two.   Ocho is perfect.
Now if they could conceivably make up with Randy Moss, the Pats would go undefeated again, with a lot more weapons than the record breaking '07 season.
Watch out for Ricky Williams accepting a Belichick invite!!!!!

I like Chad and hope he does well in New England. I just want to see the first time he comes back to the huddle and whines to Brady and Brady tells him to shut the f*%k up. Carson would not do that.
