Money, interest not there for Moss

I don't know if we ever have another Randy Moss sighting, but I do know we don't have one until someone pays him what he thinks he's worth. I don't know what that is, but I do know it's more than anyone was willing to offer. So Randy Moss retires because the money -- and the interest -- wasn't there.

And for good reason: At one time, Moss was one of the game's dominant receivers. Now, he's a part-time receiver who draws more attention for what he doesn't do than what he does. And what he didn't do last season was catch many passes.

After New England gave up on him, he spent the rest of the season with Minnesota and Tennessee, doing little more than run routes and take up space in the huddle. In 12 games with the two clubs he produced 19 catches and two touchdowns, none with Tennessee. In fact, in four of his seven games with the Titans he didn't have a catch. In three others, he had one.

That is not the wide receiver Randy Moss is supposed to be, but it's the wide receiver Randy Moss has become.

So why take a flyer on him? Apparently, no one would -- at least not at a price Moss found acceptable. If and when that happens, I have no doubt he returns. If not, I have no doubt he stays retired. But he's 34, for crying out loud, so there's plenty of time for him to pull a Brett Favre. All that's missing is the interest ... and what happened Monday tells you it wasn't there.

We should've known. When New England pulled the plug, it signaled that Moss' career was on life support. The Patriots can put up with a lot, but when they waved the white flag with Moss the clock started ticking on this day. It's tough enough to add a Randy Moss to your locker room, but you can make the case if you think he can make a difference.

He doesn't anymore. So why spend the big bucks to put him on your team? You don't, which is why Randy Moss is out of football ... for now.

Money, interest not there for Moss

That was the stupidest think I have heard on this site.

Nope...this is...

its a real shame that a guy with that much talent has such a bad reputation. i think a lot of it has to do with racism because i cant believe the ngativism there is here

I cannot stand it when people write off ill will towards someone as being racism.  I am a Randy Moss fan, always been a supporter, he has great talent, but I read through all of the comments on this post, and they are NOT racist at all.  Moss has not been a saint, and I can see why many people dislike him, he certainly has been a distraction to his last 3 teams, and they all got rid of him.  He is a quitter at times, it's true, if he wasn't he would a) still be playing and b) have a legitimate shot at surpassing Jerry Rice in just about every statistical category.  Please think before you accuse people of Racism, every time someone is accused of it unjustly it lessen the impact of justifiable racism claims.

Money, interest not there for Moss

Like I have said before, he needs to take a trip to the land of Oz, and get a new heart from the Wizard. No matter how talented a player is... without heart, they are nothing. When they lost the superbowl, moss also lost the heart to play.

He had nothing to do with the love boat - but he did traumautize Joe Buck when he "shot the moon" to the crowd in Green Bay

Is there really anybody who cares about Randy Moss? Seriously. This guy brought misery to everything he touched. The definitve loser. His karma is genuinely bad. Let's take a look at the misfortune suffered by every team that signed Moss. Minnesota won nothing with him, and immediately after he left, the Love Boat scandal sunk the Vikes. His presence made the Raiders even worse, if that's possible. New England won three rings before Moss. With Moss in New England the Patriots won none. Brady went down, and the Patriots went into a tail spin. Within days after Moss was tossed out of Foxboro, the Patriots were on the upswing again. On his second trip to Minnesota he literally burned the Vikings to the ground. The team imploded and Childress lost his job. Misery followed him to Tennessee where he failed to crack the starting lineup, but his dark cloud worked it's magic, as the longest tenured coach in the NFL lost his job. Randy Moss is the poster chiled for the dark side of the force. The fact that no team was interested in him (don't believe the agent), and Plaxico Burress and Ochocinco were signed before him speaks volumes, and tells you all you need to know. In the end it was the Ochocinco signing that torpedoed Moss. He actually thought that he was going back to New England. His shameless sucking up to Kraft was embarrassing, and did him no good. Faced with no getting what he wanted, Moss did what every petualnt child does. He took his ball and went home. Good riddance dark cloud. The NFL is a better place without you.

Having the numbers to be a first ballot guy and actually getting on the first ballot are two different things.  The fact that he's a total douchebag and a bonafide quitter who only played 100% about 50% of the time may impact some of the voting.  I personally hope he never gets in.  The guy is an a-hole.  And for all those on this blog that are saying he should be playing due to his prototypical size and speed-- where was all that size and speed last year when he was averaging .8 catches per game?  Its not like he was coming off a banner year or anything.  Hopefully this jackwaggon won't pull a farvre just to stay in the headlines.  Go away and let the guys who actually want to play-- play.

Moss was nowhere close to Jerry Rice. Wow, pull your head out of your ass. That was the stupidest think I have heard on this site. Holy Shit.
