One day the Tampa Bay Bucs release offensive tackle Luke Petitgout; the next the NFL notifies Petitgout that he will be suspended the first four games of the 2008 season. The league hasn't said why, but you have to wonder if that didn't factor into Petitgout's release. Yeah, I know Petitgout tore his ACL last year and didn't pass the team's physical. But you can't tell me the Bucs didn't know this was in the works. Not sure what happened here, but am sure you won't be seeing Petitgout for the first four games of the year ... anywhere. Petitgout is eligible to sign with another club and participate in preseason practices and preseason games, but once the 53-man roster is set, his suspension takes place.

Petitgout suspendedI heard A-Rod rubbed the roid cream on him while they were sunbathing shirtless in Central Park. He mistakenly thought it was suntan oil.

Petitgout suspendedI'm actually going to add my two cents - I went to school with friends of his...and I don't think it was roids - but I heard he's a fan of da greeny green - know what I'm sayin? Maybe he'll end up on the Dolphins and party with Ricky the Witch Doctor. ;-)

Petitgout suspendedI love these people that talk a good game and don't have any idea. I know that for an athlete steriods are a silent attractant. The magic pill or shot that makes your muscles and joints not hurt any more, and you can perform faster and sooner without pain. After two weeks on cortizone and prednizone for a seperated shoulder I know personally how adictive it could be. These high level athletes are self driven to perform and succeed from and early age or they would not be there (REGARDLESS OF THE SPORT) With the pounding NFL players take and the marathon season of a baseball or basketball player. I can see the desire to not hurt daily when they get into thier later 20's and 30's and thier body does not snap back within hours like a teen ager does.
But just call back a photo of Lyle Alzado or interview Hulk Hogan and ask them the long term undesireable effects of steriods on a body. Its a good rule to protect players, even from themselves. I feel for Luke, but I bet his positive test was related to treatmetn for his knee and his desire to return to the field. For many athletes (the ones unlike Adam Jones and Chris Henry) the playing firld and game prepairation are the only world they know.... At least the NFL is not like being a track athlete, where the runners are tested en mass before the meet, and retested if they medal as soon as the race is over. |

Petitgout suspendedI am so tired of the steroid non-sense. Accusations are one thing, but facts are another. When there is a positive test I will agree. For whatever reason, he is being suspended, I hope it is drug related. I can understand taking steroids to help your body heal after dealing with injuries. For those of you who have never played football and want to judge, you should start by standing at the edge of your driveway and run full speed into your garage door a few dozen times and see how that feels afterwards. Sometimes 2 Aleve won't get you out of bed the next day. I don't care what the NFL ruling is on that. I just hope its not another one of these mindless morons who feels like a tough guy becasue he hit a woman.

Petitgout suspendedNo, but I heard him and Marion Jones used to go "clubbin" together in New York...that's probably where he got the cream from.
