Trusting Colts Management Decisions

Trust. Sometimes, with the lack of real information, we need to trust.  For me, when it comes to Bill Polian and Jim Irsay, thats not too hard. They have recently named Bill's son and Assistant GM Chris Polian as GM. Looking at this franchise since Bill Polian has arrived, one can only be amazed. Plus, lets not forget that Bill Polian was a franchise builder before he came to Indy (see Panthers & Bills).  Irsay is doing it right. Polian certainly is one of the NFL's gurus.  I imagine they are are working very close in making the most important decisions.  As I look at it, the young Polian may be a very good choice. He has been bred in football.  He will have his father's wisdom available to him as long as Bill Polian lives.  In management, success is making more solid decisions than your opponents.  I see it like a batting average.  The Colts have the best managerial "batting average" in the league.  So when they step up to the plate, this Colt fan has alot of confidence.  Go COLTS!

Trusting Colts Management Decisions

I couldn't agree with you more fightingamish.  I have complete trust in the decisions of Polian and Irsay.  Did I agree with the pulling of the starters last week?  No, but I trust that the decision was made with one goal in mind and that is winning another Super Bowl.  Most people have said the Colts laid down and gave the game away.  I dare say that it would not be something I would mention to the players who finished that game.  They played their heartys out only to be beaten by a good Jets team playing their starters.

Those of us who have supported this decision have taken quite a bit of heat.  A lot of people are dissapointed that the Colts didn't go for the "Perfect" season.  The funny thing is, most of them aren't even Colts fans.  Just someone who will take any opportunity they can to say something bad about the "Best" run franchise in the league.

I expect that Peyton and the rest of the starters will play a quarter at the most in Buffalo.  Just to stay sharp.  Then it's a couple of weeks of rest and practice until the next game.  It's entirely possible they could face the Jets agin in their first game of the playoffs.  Wouldn't that be sweet.

With that said, I don't mind my kids looking up to Colts players either. These guys are true class-acts and are something that not a lot of kids have any more. A ROLE MODEL. And not one that probably gonna be beating his girlfriend or getting a DUI or something like that.

Have fun at the game! Hope your not sitting at the very top! It's a very long walk lol.

TrueBlue, we do need to be thankful for that. They are the MOST professional of professional NFL teams. A model others strive to emulate. Their players are men I don't mind if my kids look up to. Don't get me wrong, I want my kids to emulate Jesus Christ, but I don't mind them looking up to Peyton and Dallas and Reggie and Dwight.  I'm at the game today and I'm as excited as a 4 year old! We are watching art. We are watching history!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I feel so lucky that we have the owners, GM's, management, and the players that we do. Watching some of the things other teams owners do makes my head spin. Seeing some of their personell choices is another head scratcher. We have a very professional, knowledgeable, and respected organization and for and dam thankful for that.

Trusting Colts Management Decisions

I've never been a "grassy knoll" guy.  I don't think there is any conspiracies going on.  I'm not sure who you are a fan of, but I know every fan of every team sees calls the ref's should have called on the other team.  Its part of how we see the game.  If we take a step back, my guess is that games are generally evenly called.  To call the Colts "cheaters" is irresponsible.  I think they are one of the most respected franchises in all of professional sports.  You don't get to that status by cheating. In fact, their many quality decisions and talent in drafting and signing free agents, bringing in quality coaches and having high standards for their players have led them to become the winningest and most respected team in the NFL over the past 10 years. Whatever they are doing, I hope they keep it up for the next 50 years!  Go HORSE!
