DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

Here's my pre combine/ free agency mock draft, after the combine and most of the Free Agency activity ill post a new one

1. Miami - Glenn Dorsey, DT (LSU)
Miami was terrible against the run, as everyone knows that the two most important things in football are running the ball and stopping the run.

2. St. Louis - Jake Long, OT (Michigan)
St. Louis' offensive line was terrible last year, Jake Long should improve the lineup by 4 sacks by himself.

3. Oakland - Chris Long, DE (Virginia)
Long is one of the best pure talents in the draft, combined with a great motor. Oakland has Fargas, Jordan and Rhodes so they don't take McFadden, and its too early for Sedrick Ellis.

4. Kansas City - Leodis McKelvin, CB (Troy)
Maybe a bit of a reach here, but Surtain was torched badly last year.

5. Atlanta - Darren McFadden, RB (Arkansas)
The best talent in the draft, this years AD. With good QB talent to be had in the second round they pass on Matt Ryan.

6. New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB (Ohio State)
Perfect rusher for the Jet's 3-4 defense, Willie McGinnist type.

7. New England - Keith Rivers, OLB (USC)
Best linebacker in the draft will replace Colvin, maybe as early as this year.

8. Baltimore - Matt Ryan, QB (Boston College)
Baltimore licks their lips as Atlanta passes on Matt Ryan. They can't believe he's fallen this far.

9. Cincinnati - Sedrick Ellis, DT (USC)
Cincinnati gets a stud defensive player for the first time and years. He will start right away for the Bungles beleagered defense.

10. New Orleans - Mike Jenkins, CB (South Florida)
The Saints get the best corner in the draft here. Jason David, your time is up.

11. Buffalo - Malcom Kelly, WR (Oklahoma)
With Sedrick Ellis off the board they reach to grab their number 2 target in the draft.

12. Denver - Ryan Clady, OT (Boise State)
Clady is a true Bronco's lineman, athletic and tough.

13. Carolina - Chris Williams, OT (Vanderbilt)
Carolina had issues with both lines last year, with any remaining D-Linemen a reach they sure up the O-Line

14. Chicago - Brian Brohm, QB (Louisville)
Bears also happy that Atlanta passed on Ryan, gives them a chance to grab Brohm.

15. Detroit - Jonathan Stewart, RB (Oregon)
Detroit finally gets a bona-fide runner for their offence.

16. Arizona - Derrick Harvey, DE (Florida)
They get a guy who can team up with Dockett to strike fear into Offensive Linemen.

17. Minnesota - DeShawn Jackson, WR (California)
Minnesota now has a capable 1-2 reciever punch with Jackson teaming up with Rice.

18. Houston - Rashard Mendenhall, RB (Illinois)
Kubiak. No, you dont have to hand the ball to Ron Dayne 20 times a game anymore.

19. Philadelphia - Jeff Otah, OT (Pittsburgh)
With Eagles linemen getting up there in age they get a young replacement to groom.

20. Tampa Bay - James Hardy, WR (Indiana)
Galloway finally has a running mate

21. Washington - Kenny Phillips, FS (Miami)
Landry and Philips, Phillips will replace Sean Taylor, and his play will be worthy of the late Sean Taylor.

22. Dallas - Felix Jones, RB (Arkansas)
It'll be Jones and Barber in the backfield for the Cowboys again this year, but this time its Felix, not Julius. Felix is better than Julius too.

23. Pittsburgh - Anthony Collins, OT (Kansas)
Would be a guard here, if there were any actually worthy of being a first round pick.

24. Tennessee - Phillip Merling, DE (Clemson)
With Odom and LaBoy likely gone they need another edge rusher to start opposite Vanden Bosch.

25. Seattle - Fred Davis, TE (USC)
The best tight end in the draft can block and catch. Pollard pushed them to this with his miscues vs. the Packers.

26. Jacksonville - Calais Campbell, DE (Miami)
Jacksonville gets a Mario Williams sized guy to address their lack of an edge rusher.

27. San Diego - Pat Sims, DT (Auburn)
With Williams aging they need to get younger.

28. Dallas - Early Doucet, WR (LSU)
TO ain't getting younger, outside of Clayton they have nothing at WR.

29. San Francisco -  Mario Manningham, WR (Michigan)
The niners need a stud reciever badly, Manningham is already a polished receiver.

30. Green Bay - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB (Tennessee)
Antonio Cromartie's cousin is no slouch himself, and with no real needs, the Packers ready themselves for life without Woodson and Harris.

31. New York Giants - Antoine Cason, CB (Arizona)
Madison and McQuarters are both over 30, and both played inconsistantly all year. But they did step up in the playoffs.

32. Miami – Andre Caldwell, WR (Florida)
How can you see if John Beck is your QB if he has no one to throw to.

33. St. Louis – Kentwan Balmer, DT (North Carolina)
Leonard Little needs some push inside and La’Roi Glover can’t do that anymore it seems.

34. Kansas City – Sam Baker, OT (USC)
Time to re-do that line, it was absolutely terrible, couldn’t keep Croyle on his feet.

35. Atlanta – Chad Henne, QB (Michigan)
Should start right away, him being available in the second round let them take McFadden in the first.

36. New York Jets – Jamaal Charles, RB (Texas)
Thomas Jones wasn’t the answer for the running game last year. Jones is still a capable back, but its time to look to the future.

37. Oakland – Limas Sweed, WR (Texas)
Russell needs some targets, Porter is gone, Curry is good, but not a number one reciever.

38. Baltimore – Dan Connor, ILB (Penn State)
He shouldn’t fall this far likely, but Baltimore needs to look to the future and Ray Lewis is getting old.

39. San Francisco – Trevor Laws, DT (Notre Dame)
A close second in ineptness to the Niners passing game was San Francisco’s D-Line last year.

40. New Orleans – Curtis Lofton, ILB (Oklahoma)
Worst Linebacking core in the league last year.

41. Buffalo – Ali Highsmith, OLB (LSU)
Buffalo now has a linebacking core on an level with the Packers, and the Pack are one of the best in the league.

42. Denver – Jerod Mayo, MLB (Tennessee)
No need for Williams to play Mike any more, and the defense will improve because of it.

43. Carolina – Simeon Castille, FS (Alabama)
With Minter gone, they need to draft a FS in the early rounds.

44. Chicago – Gosder Cherilus, OT (Boston College)
Chicago needs to get younger along their O-Line so that they can protect Brohm adequately.

45. Detroit – Martellus Bennett, TE (Texas A&M)
Only hole in the Lions passing game is a reliable TE to throw to.

46. Cincinnati – Lawrence Jackson, DE (USC)
Smith didn’t get the pressure he needed to last year, Jackson should help the D-Line in a big way.

47. Minnesota – Andre’ Woodson, QB (Kentucky)
I think everyone has lost confidence in TJ.

48. Atlanta – Brandon Albert, G (Virginia)
O-Line was pretty bad last year, Albert will do a good job opening holes for McFadden.

49. Philadelphia – Xavier Adibi, OLB (Virginia Tech)
Linebacker seems to be an annual need for the Eagles.

50. Arizona – Chris Johnson, RB (East Carolina)
Edge hasn’t been as productive as in the past and he isn’t getting younge, his successor is chosen.

51. Washington – Devin Thomas, WR (Michigan State)
When you don’t have a WR catch a TD till game 8 or 9, you need to upgrade.

52. Tampa Bay – John David Booty, QB (USC)
Garcia is almost at the end of his football career, Buc’s get their QB of the future.

53. Cleveland – Red Bryant, DT (Texas A & M)
Washington shouldn’t be starting into his 40’s. Bryant will provide some life to a porous d-line.

54. Pittsburgh – Marcus Griffin, FS (Texas)
I think we all agree that Anthony Smith is good for one thing, picking against, unfortunately that’s all he’s good at.

55. Tennessee – Earl Bennett, WR (Vanderbilt)
VY gets a targer to throw to finally.

56. New York Giants – Cliff Avril, DE (Purdue)
Strahan is getting old, and Tuck would work best in a rotation.

57. Seattle – Steve Slaton, RB (West Virginia)
Alexander has lost his burst, Morris isn’t a full time back.

58. Jacksonville – Aqib Talib, CB (Kansas)
Playing in the older Manning’s division, you need all the corners you can get.

59. Miami – Darrell Robertson, DE (Georgia Tech)
Miami gets a guy who can start opposite Taylor, and they can move Roth back to a reserve.

60. Dallas – Reggie Smith, CB (Oklahoma)
Cowboys are very lucky to grab the versatile Smith, with almost no CB depth after their two starters, they grab a corner here.

61. Indianapolis – Quentin Groves, OLB (Auburn)
Indianapolis could move him to DE, you know how they like their undersized linemen.

62. Green Bay – Oniel Cousins, OT (Texas-El Paso)
Clifton and Tauscher are stud bookends, but they are getting older, add another one to the mix of good young linemen in GB.

63. New England – Tracy Porter, CB (Indiana)
With Samuel and Gay likely gone, Ellis is left all alone, look for the Pats to pick up a corner here.

64. Miami – Philip Wheeler, ILB (Georgia Tech)
The Fins released Thomas, he could start in the middle of this year and probably next year.

65. St. Louis – Roy Schuening, G (Oregon State)
St. Louis does more adding of talent to their terrible O-Line.

66. Atlanta – Mike Pollak, C (Arizona State)
Atlanta does some more re-tooling up front.

67. New York Jets – Donnie Avery, WR (Houston)
After Cotchery and Coles, no WR’s really. Passing game was stagnant last year.

68. New England – Jonathan Hefney, FS (Tennessee)
Harrison is getting old, Hefney is their future stud safety.

69. Kansas City – Lavelle Hawkins, WR (California)
Kansas needed a number 2 receiver bad, and when your number 2 guy is Jeff Webb, ouch.

70. San Francisco – Carl Nicks, OT (Nebraska)
Any help on the o-line is always welcome.

71. Buffalo – Steve Justice, C (Wake Forest)
Fowler shouldn’t be starting for the Bills. Buffalo gets the best inside lineman in the whole draft here.

72. Buffalo – Dre’ Moore, DT (Maryland)
Larry Triplett and McCargo aren’t getting it done.

73. Denver – Chris Ellis, DE (Virginia Tech)
Bronco’s are thin at DE going into this season.

74. Carolina – Joe Flacco, QB (Delaware)
Delhomme is getting older, Carr is the worst QB who started an NFL game last year. Flacco is the right choice here.

75. Chicago – Eddie Royal, WR (Virginia Tech)
Bears are in dire need of WR’s.

76. Detroit – Heath Benedict, OT (Newberry)
Detroit’s o-line is terrible. They gave up 6 sacks to the Packer’s back ups.

77. Cincinnati – Tavares Gooden, ILB (Miami)
More help on defense, see a trend here?

78. New Orleans – Erin Henderson, OLB (Maryland)
As I said before, that linebacking core is terrible.

79. Houston – Bruce Davis, OLB (UCLA)
Clark and Anderson are FA’s this year.

80. Philadelphia - D. J. Hall, WR (Alabama)
Little depth after Brown and Curtis.

81. Arizona – John Sullivan, C (Notre Dame)
O-Line improved last year but the inside of the line is still a concern.

82. Minnesota – Jason Jones, DE (Eastern Michigan)
With Udeze’s health issue’s and the lack of a pass rush before Kenichi’s health issues make DE a need for the Vikes.

83. Tampa Bay – Terrell Thomas, CB (USC)
Barber and Kelly are on the Wrong side of 30, and their play has been more inconsistant then in previous years.

84. Washington – Charles Godfrey, CB (Iowa)
After Smoot and Springs not enough depth.

85. Pittsburgh – Geno Hayes, OLB (Florida State)
After top 4 linebackers not a lot of depth.

86. Tennessee – Beau Bell, ILB (UNLV)
Titans don’t really have a bona-fide starter at the Mike.

87. New York Giants – Marcus Howard, OLB (Georgia)
They need insurance incase they lose Mitchell and/or Torbor.

88. Seattle – Eric Young, G (Tennessee)
Shouldn’t have let hutchinson go, now they need help at guard.

89. Cleveland – Kevin Smith, RB (Central Florida)
Jamal Lewis is nearing the end of his career considering the type of runner he is, He’ll need to be replaced in the near future, Kevin Smith is a good one.

90. Chicago – Mike Hart, RB (Michigan)
With Benson disinterested and Wolfe and Peterson not starting RB’s, Chicago needs to grab a RB.

91. Jacksonville – Harry Douglas, WR (Kansas State)
Northcutt and Wilford are good recievers, just they shouldn’t be your starting WR duo.

92. Indianapolis – Mike McGlynn, G (Pittsburgh)
With the possibility of losing Lilja and Scott they need to be prepared.

93. Green Bay – Adarius Bowman, WR (Oklahoma State)
Ted Thompson has a knack for grabbing stud receivers in rounds 2 and 3.

94. Dallas – Brandon Flowers, CB (Virginia Tech)
Flowers is another great corner out of VT, Dallas is really lacking a good corner for their dime, and he can do that. He will also start down the line.

95. New England – Chris Harrington, DE (Texas A&M)
Value pick here, best player left on their draft board.

96. Miami – Dwight Lowry, CB (San Jose State)
The Fins don’t have many starting quality corners, Lowry could be that down the road.

97. St. Louis – Jamar Adams, SS (Michigan)
With Atogwe manning the FS spot, they need to grab someone to who can play SS in a year or two.

98. New York Jets – John Carlson, TE (Notre Dame)
I know they have Baker, but everyone can use a good 2nd TE, Carlson is better than Baker too.

99. Oakland – Ray Rice, RB (Rutgers)
LaMont Jordan and Dominique Rhodes did next to nothing last year, Fargas now has a top notch back-up.

100. Kansas City – John Greco, OT (Toledo)
KC needs to load up on as many O-Line prospects as it can.

101. Atlanta – DeMario Pressley, DT (North Carolina State)
Atlanta is lacking in talent on the D-Line, the whole unit needs to be rebuilt.

102. Baltimore – Johnny Dingle, DE (West Virginia)
They need a DE in a bad way so they can keep Suggs at LB.

103. San Francisco – Andre Fluellen, DT (Florida State)
The line was brutal last year, no inside pressure is a big cause for concern.

104. Denver – Tashard Choice, RB (Georgia Tech)
I don’t feel that Selvin Young is a good enough back-up to Henry.

105. Carolina – Jordy Nelson, WR (Kansas State)
The Panthers need a no. 2 receiver, maybe they nab one here in the 4th round.

106. Buffalo – Owen Schmitt, FB (Arkansas)
Buffalo will love this guy, oh yeah, they need a lead blocker for next year. Schmitt is the best FB in the draft.

107. Detroit – Chevis Jackson, CB (LSU)
Bryant and Stanley aren’t starting corners. Luckly they land Jackson in the 4th round, a steal.

108. Cincinnati – D.J. Parker, FS (Virginia Tech)
Another improvement for a tragically doomed defense.

109. New Orleans – Ezra Butler, OLB (Nevada)
The Saints get their LB core for the future in three rounds. It will be a definite improvement over last year.

110. Buffalo – DeJuan Tribble, CB (Boston College)
The lack of an effective nickel corner was obvious last year.

111. Philadelphia – Craig Steltz, SS (LSU)
They need to grab someone who can play SS well, Steltz should have been gone early in the third round, what a steal.

112. Arizona – Quintin Demps, FS (Texas-El Paso)
FS was the only evident weakness in a secondary that is starting to come together.

113. Minnesota – Wesley Woodyard, SS (Kentucky)
Secondary needs as many improvements as it can get.

114. Houston – Tom Zbikowski, SS (Notre Dame)
Safety is the major weakness in the Texan’s secondary.

115. Washington – Kendall Longford, DE (Hampton)
A project for a pass rush starved Redskins ‘D’.

116. Tampa Bay – Trae Williams, CB (South Florida)
Same reason as the previous round.

117. Tennessee – Patrick Lee, CB (Auburn)
Corners are solid, but an evident lack of depth at corner.

118. New York Giants – Tony Hills, OT (Texas)
Everyone could use a couple of O-Linemen every draft.

119. Seattle – DeJuan Morgan, FS (North Carolina State)
Grant and Russell are getting old and not much depth behind them.

120. Cleveland – Robert Felton, G (Arkansas)
See pick 118 by the Giants.

121. Pittsburgh – Matt Forte’, RB (Tulane)
Pittsburgh needs a bruising back to team up with speedy Parker.

122. Jacksonville – D. J. Wolfe, SS (Oklahoma)
After Darius’s departure, they never had a solid SS.

123. San Diego – Duane Brown, OT (Virginia Tech)
Chargers line is top heavy on talent which means little depth.

124. Green Bay – Pedro Sosa, OT (Rutgers)
See GB’s second round pick.

125. Dallas – Frank Okam, DT (Texas)
They pick the in-state DT to back up Jason Ferguson.

126. Indianapolis – Ahtyba Rubin, DT (Iowa State)
Lack of depth in the middle of that D-Line.

127. New England – Martin Rucker, TE (Missouri)
Kyle Brady won’t be around long, Rucker will be a nice complement to Watson.

128. Kansas City – Donald Thomas, G (Connecticut)

129. St. Louis –Wallace Gillberry, DE (Alabama)

130. Oakland – Jerome Simpson, WR (Costal California)

131. Kansas City - Justin King, CB (Penn State)

132. Atlanta – Tyvon Branch, CB (Connecticut)

133. New York Jets – Darnell Terrell, CB (Missouri)

134. San Francisco – Colt Brennan, QB (Hawaii)

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

223. New England – Marcus Harrison, DT (Arkansas)

Mr. Irrelevant for next year

A Little History for the unknown

Several players who have been presented with this dubious honor have nevertheless succeeded in making the team that drafted them, with significant contributions on the field. Bill Kenney, who won the 1978 Mr. Irrelevant award under special circumstances (see below), was even honored with an invitation to the Pro Bowl, in 1983. Special-teams player Marty Moore became the first Mr. Irrelevant to play in a Super Bowl, with the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI. Jim Finn was the starting fullback for the New York Giants Mike Green has been a starting safety for the Bears and is currently a backup for the Seahawks.

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

I don't see Aqib Talib falling that low, and neither will Rucker. The Eagles won't take 2 receivers for sure, probably not even one. Other than that, it looks nice.

We could even trade for Vilma. There are other options. I think we have bigger needs right now.

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

The thing is the bronco's are in a rebuilding mode, you shouldn't be signing vet's to play, develop young players, thats why i think they take Mayo or a MLB in round 3 or 4

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

He had a hard time adjusting because it was his first year at mike and 3rd different position (mlb, wslb, and sslb,)in 4 years. The only way we switch him is if we sign a vet and we would move him back on the weak side.

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

Williams should be your OLB, you need a true MLB, Williams had a hard time adjusting, he plays better outside, you take Mayo, sign a free-agent, your set. MLB is a bigger need than OLB because if you get a MLB you can move williams back to his natural position.

D.J. will be our MLB next season If we don't sign a FA. We need a replacement for Webster and Gold. As for saftey we need a play maker. Lynch is done and has been since 2006.

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

The reason I chose Clady in the first is there were no DT's left that weren't terrible reaches. And at Safety, thats more of a need for next year.

I chose Mayo in the second round because D. J. Williams plays better outside, and having a natural middle linebacker would be great for the Run D, Highsmith and Adibi are OLB's i cant see them playing in the middle

I am sure I could nit pick each pick, but why? Mel Kiper was So far off last year I think he did his mock with a list of names and a pile of darts. So I am just gonna sit back and appreciate the utter sickness that is your sports life. Holy S*&T!!!! Amazing!!!

DD's 2008 Mock NFL Draft. (7 Rounds)

12. Denver - Ryan Clady, OT (Boise State)
Clady is a true Bronco's lineman, athletic and tough.

We drafted Ryan Harris to replace Matt Lepsis in the 3rd round last season. Assuming we sign a DT, we go Kenny Phillips.

 42. Denver – Jerod Mayo, MLB (Tennessee)
No need for Williams to play Mike any more, and the defense will improve because of it.
D.J. Williams is our guy. Seeing how Ali Highsmith is off the board, we would draft Xavier Adibi in my opinion.

73. Denver – Chris Ellis, DE (Virginia Tech)

p;      Bronco’s are thin at DE going into this season

We don't have a third round pick. The Vikings have ours. Anyway we drafted Jarvis Moss in the 1st round last year along with Tim Crowder in the 2nd round. Crowder will be our starter and Moss will come in on passing downs. We have Elvis Dumervil and he is a Pro-Bowl caliber DE.

104. Denver – Tashard Choice, RB (Georgia Tech)
I don’t feel that Selvin Young is a good enough back-up to Henry.

I hope he is still there and if he is we take him...Not to take Selvin Young's spot he was the 3rd best rookie runningback this year he did better than Travis Henry, and we are looking to trade or cut Henry.Selvin is good enough ! We will have Selvin split time with Choice ? I would love it. We have the Redskins 115th pick this year also. With pick 115 we go KR.

142. Denver – Chad Kinehart, G (Northern Iowa)We have the 130th from the Raiders also. I think we defense again  with 130 taking a DE here for depth. With pick 142 we go OT.

173. Denver – Chris McDuffle, G (Clemson)

We don't have a 6th.

;   204. Denver – Anthony Aldridge, WR (Houston)
Pick 204..... ??? I have no idea at this point I do know that we might have Tampa Bay's 7th round selection if Jake Plummer does not report. If he does then we have their 4th round pick. I hope Jake goes lol.
