One Bid: Georgetown vs. Kentucky

If there was one at large bid left to give away and the Selection Commitee had it narrowed down to two teams--Georgetown & Kentucky--who would get the bid?

Post your thoughts below on who you'd pick and why, plus vote here .

That's what I want to know. Let's take a look at the profiles:

I have a feeling this is going to create a lot of controversy. First of all the Big East is better than the SEC, and I'm sure there's going to be about a thousand people that won't mind reminding Kentucky fans of that. Honetstly though this is about Kentucky vs. Georgetown, not the Big East vs. the SEC. I will post my thoughts later about 8 PM CT or so.

Kentucky Wildcats:
Record: 16-7
Conference Record: 5-3
RPI: 75
SOS: 92

Georgetown Hoyas:
Record: 13-8
Conference Record: 4-6
RPI: 20
SOS: 1

Look at the strength of schedule and you will see--it is not like football season in the SEC.  The Big East is the better basketball conference and Georgetown deserves an at large bid.

Definitely Georgetown!!  Strength of schedule is huge.  Plus they beat the current number one team in the country, UCONN.

Georgetown.  It pains me to say it but it's a no brainer.  Eight days ago I would say UK in a landslide, but not after 3 straight losses, two at home.  The Hoyas' SOS and RPI are too good to ignore at this point, and UK's conference record against a weak SEC is too bad to ignore.  The year's not over though... UK will come back.

Agreed.  Georgetown has to get the bid.  In addition to a better RPI and SOS, the Hoyas also boast some signature victories (@UConn, vs. Syracuse, vs. Memphis) where as Kentucky's best win is @Tennessee.  The Hoyas haven't been playing well of late, but if the decision were made today, I think the Hoyas get the nod.

With their resumes gotta say Georgetown. RPI and SOS is too strong.

Now if these two played each other it may be a different story. The Hoyas would have to stop Jodie  Meeks and contain Patrick Patterson. That would be a great matchup down low- Patterson against the stellarfreshman from Georgetown Greg Monroe

I think its a little premature right now... it is pretty much a dead heat. However , Georgetown will be playing Louisville I think next week.If Georgetown wins I would have to give them the nod as Louisville beat Ky earlier. It Really pains me to say that.. as I am one of those DIE HARD , BLEED BLUE KENTUCKY FANS!!!
