Today has already been busy and it's only 3:30 here in the Central Time zone. Let me clear up a few questions I'm sure are circling in your mind.

As I type this Villanova just knocked off Marqutte at the buzzer........(more on that in a minute)

1) What about Baylor's magical run to the Big 12 semifinals?

The last thing we need around here is someone stroking their ego, but I can't help but brag just a litlte now. I picked the Bears as one of my potential Cinderellas last week in my preview for conference tournaments. Don't be surprised if they win it.

2) Why does Clemson do this January/February swoon every year?

No idea. It doesn't make sense to me but congratulations to Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets may be the most improved young team from the start of the season to the end of the season. Watch out for them next year. The Tigers seed is dropping like a rock.

3) What do Kentucky & Michigan's wins mean?

Honestly not much. Beating Iowa and Ole Miss does not mean hardly anything this year. For Michigan they did knock off a team that has already won games against Wisconsin and Penn State. Earlier in the year both UK & MI lost to the teams they beat today.

4) Minnesota's win over Northwestern does ___________?

Keeps them alive but not much more. The Wildcats are mediocre at best and very inconsistent. The win gives Minnesota a great chance to get a signature win versus Michigan State tomorrow.

5) Who is done?

Miami is done after being blown out by Virginia Tech. Providence is all but done at this point depending on the showings by other bubble teams, including games in progress as I type this.

6) When's the new bracketology coming out?

Any second now. I am going to try to update it hourly.

Great day! Answering Six Questions From Today

Baylor was a top 15 team at the beginning of the year, why is this surprising they are a good team, and the Jayhawks are still a young team.  There is no such thing as upset in the Big 12.  Clemson does this January February swoop because they are not a well coached team.  They also aren't that good of a team.  Really they are overrated.  They go undefeated against sorry non-conference play and fall when they get into conference play.  Michigan is already in after their season finale at Minnesota, Kentucky will need to win the conference tournament to get in.

What do you think about Pitt and Oklahoma's losses today.  Oklahoma needed this win today because of all the probable one seeds they were the one on the fence.  Now they have destined themselves to a two seed.  Pitt will also drop to a two seed after a double digit loss to West Virginia.  West Virginia has upped their cause for a higher seed in this year's dance.

Great day! Answering Six Questions From Today

Thanks dan.  I guess it's been a long time for Kentucky fans since we had to win the SEC Championship to get in.  It's very disgraceful.  I'm very disappointed this season.  I'm baffled that we have (arguably) two top ten players and are on the outside looking in.

They are calling for Gillispie's head in Big Blue Country.  I don't think BCG will be the coach of the Kentucky Wildcats next season.

Sorry to vent on your blog.  Thanks again.

Great day! Answering Six Questions From Today

Kentucky probably needs to reach the SEC Finals at least, if not win the SEC all together.

From what I remember in the past, the SEC Championship is on during the selection show.  Correct me if I'm wrong...

All the games are over before the Selection Show. This is impossible. The committee cannot select the field unless it knows all 31 automatic bid qualifiers. Also the SEC championship is on CBS, and so is the Selection Show.

Great day! Answering Six Questions From Today

I have a question about Kentucky.  If and when Kentucky wins tomorrow versus LSU, can UK Cat fans start thinking NCAA?  Or, does Kentucky need to win the SEC to get in?

From what I remember in the past, the SEC Championship is on during the selection show.  Correct me if I'm wrong...

Thanks.
