Dantheman's Bracketology March 13th (1 AM CT)

Wow!  I'll have to amend my seeds/brackets again since Michigan State lost to Ohio State today.  As I said earlier, I was somewhat undecided whether to give Michigan State or Memphis a #1 seed.  I'll have to put Memphis as a #1 now.  I'll have to move Florida State up to a #6 (at least) since they beat UNC today and move Ohio State to a #7 seed and drop Marquette back to a #8.  Purdue is taking it to Illinois today (so far), so I may have to switch their seeds--Purdue to a #5 and Illinois back to a #6.

It's uncanny how many of the "top" teams are losing in their conference tournaments.  Last night I didn't think Pitt would deserve a #1 seed but since UConn also lost late last night, I have to change my tune on that one and put Pitt back in a #1 seed.  I'm undecided between Michigan St. and Memphis getting a #1 seed.  Memphis's league is not as strong but the Big 10 teams never seem to play well in the NCAA Tournament.  Syracuse is moving up in the rankings, at least in my mind, as is Maryland, Ohio State and Arizona State.  Last week, I had my doubts that Maryland and Ohio State would even make the Tournament.  It looks as though Temple may make it in also, if they beat Duquesne tomorrow.  Xavier will still be in but I don't know about Dayton now that they've lost to Temple (or was it Duquesne - can't recall).  It has definitely made Selection Sunday more interesting.  Here's how I would seed them:

  1. Pittsburgh, Michigan State, North Carolina, Louisville
  2. Memphis, Connecticut, Duke, Wake Forest
  3. Washington, Oklahoma, Villanova, Missouri
  4. Xavier, Syracuse, Kansas, Gonzaga
  5. UCLA, Illinois, Arizona State, LSU
  6. Marquette, West Virginia, Purdue, Texas
  7. Clemson, Florida State, California, Tennessee
  8. Boston College, Maryland, Butler, Ohio State
  9. Oklahoma State, St. Marys, Mississippi State, BYU
  10. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas A&M, Utah
  11. Florida/Auburn, Southern Cal, VCU, Northern Iowa
  12. Temple, Creighton, Western Kentucky, Siena
  13. Buffalo, North Dakota St., Utah State, Cleveland State
  14. Cornell, E. Tenn. St., Morehead State, American
  15. Radford, Alabama St., Portland St., S.F. Austin
  16. Robert Morris, Binghamton, Chattanooga, Morgan St., CS-Northridge

Out: Dayton, Davidson, Penn. State, Kentucky, Rhode Island, loser of Florida/Auburn game, Va. Tech., Kansas State, Arizona, Providence, Cincinnati.

I would've liked to have a few more mid-majors in but I just didn't see where I could fit them in.  Possibly Dayton instead of Minnesota

time for Pittsburg and UConn to make room for Memphis and Michigan State to take their place on the top line.

ok... so florida beat Arkansas.. they must be in now. Penn state beat indiana they must be in now. Maryland did only beat NCST but also UNC, Michigan State, Michigan, Miami, Virginia Tech. I didnt say anything in my post about that win getting them in did i? yeah... I was pretty sure i just said i was disappointed they were not even in the "First 4 out." so good analysis with stating that florida beat NCST. Because that was probably one of Florida's top 3 wins this year sadly...

Hm..

Once again I am pretty disappointed that you would put Davidson in the First 4 out and not Maryland even after their win over NCST. I guess I will have to wait for Maryland to beat Wake and maybe even Duke for you to move them up over Stephen Curry and Penn St and St. Marys and whatever else bad teams you have. (Yes, Stephen Curry not Davidson because the team is obviously horrible this year). I guess I will have to just take pleasure in looking at the real bracketology on CBS... which has Maryland the 2nd team left out of their bracket.  Looks like they actually did some research and didn't just remember that Maryland lost at Virginia last Saturday. And I really like that Marquette team especially after James went out i was pulling for them but there is no way they can still be in consideration for a 5 seed after they have lost 5 out of their last 6 games. Sorry.
