North Carolina wins national title, 09-10 talk

I actually called this one last April. There was just no denying all season long that from top to bottom North Carolina was the best team in college basketball this season.

The Tar Heels murdered Michigan State tonight in a game that was never close and never competitive. Tyler Hansbrough won his first title and now moves onto the NBA and Ty Lawson is probably going with him. Wayne Ellington was the MOP.

Congratulations to Michigan State on a great season. The Spartans played well and I don't mean to take anything away from them. Conference talk, future NBA talk, and history aside the guys in the baby blue jerseys were just better.

Now it's time to start discussing next year. Earlier last week I threw out a quick top 25. I will update it in a few days when a few more underclassmen make NBA decisions. For now you can check it out here.

There is no way this will even be close to right. Johnny Flynn, Blake Griffin, Cole Aldrich, Hasheem Thabeet, DeJuan Blair, all have already have said they are entering the draft. Pitt is no longer going to be a power-house team when all they have back is Jermaine Dixon & he cant do it by himself. Also, if you haven't heard yet, Jon Scheyer looks like he is going to play football & no longer stay at Duke. St. Mary's, Creighton, Gonzaga, BYU, Washington, Butler all have weak divisions. When they play against big teams, they are going to get murdered. You should probably make some changes to this

Villanova still gets no respect.....nice.  They lost to the eventual national champion in 4 of the past 5 years (UNC, Florida, Kansas, UNC) in the tournament, they have their star point guard back, one of the best recruiting classes in the country, a key transfer from Duke, a coach who has proved he can get them to win at a high level........and you don't even include them in the top 25?

wow, you really went out on a limb picking Carolina. Nobody saw that coming! When my Jayhawks won last year, i told my Carolina friends "your turn next year".

as for your top 10, its really pointless to try to do it right now because various guys who shouldnt go pro certainly will, plus some recruits still have to make decisions.

Kansas will be a top team regardless but if they add Xavier Henry, it should probably jump them to #1.

Missouri won't sniff the top 10 next season.

Memphis won't sniff the top 20 unless Henry ends up there.

Carolina top 5? no chance of lawson and ellington coming back. Ed Davis and a good recruiting class will keep them competitive but more likely somewhere in the 10-15 range.

We have no idea who is going to be on Kentucky's roster next year, so how can you rank them?
