Week 16 NFL Picks & Predictions

Posted on: December 22, 2010 10:21 am

No point in beating around the bush.  I sucked last week.  With the Giants's historic, epic collapse and going 6-10 in the pick 'ems last week, I'm going to skip the commentary and just make my picks this week.  Logic didn't seem to work for me last week, so let's see how just picking the winners goes.

Panthers @ Steelers-- STEELERS

Cowboys @ Cardinals-- COWBOYS

Lions @ Dolphins-- LIONS

Ravens @ Browns-- RAVENS

Patriots @ Bills-- PATRIOTS

Redskins @ Jaguars-- JAGUARS

Jets @ Bears-- BEARS

Titans @ Chiefs-- CHIEFS

49ers @ Rams-- RAMS

Colts @ Raiders-- RAIDERS

Chargers @ Bengals-- CHARGERS

Texans @ Broncos-- BRONCOS (TEBOW GETS HIS FIRST WIN)

Giants @ Packers-- PACKERS

Seahawks @ Buccaneers-- BUCCANEERS

Vikings @ Eagles-- EAGLES

Saints @ Falcons-- FALCONS

Week 16 NFL Picks & Predictions

I don't get it! Hartly lost the Falcon game by missing an easy field goal. That ran the game into OT and the Birds won by 3. Not exactly a blow out by any means. I really expect the Saints to put this game away and keep Hartly on the bench. That should make folks realize that the Birds are just a bunch of "aints." They will have their feathers between their tails after this one as well as a big group of so called sports commentators. Laughing

Week 16 NFL Picks & Predictions

I beat around a bush once. Once. I'm here to tell you...oops! I like some of your picks but I disagree with the NO @ ATL pick. I don't think youth gets it done against the defending champs. I think the Saints will have their best game with them and their D will want to knock Roddy White into next week.

Well, Atlanta's undefeated at home and has beat New Orleans already.  Plus, the Saints defense doesn't impress me.  They let the Ravens outscore them in a shoot-out, so how are they going to stop Michael Turner and Matt Ryan?  Oh, well.  Just my take......

Sammy my friend - Merry Christmas to you too.  I will have my commentary along with my picks for next week and throughout the playoffs.  Have a good one.

Week 16 NFL Picks & Predictions

@ Charlie - Agreed 100%.  By the way, how are you feeling about Tony Sparano?  Should he stay or go?

I really don't know what to think or how to feel about Big Tony.  It's bad enough that you have to roll out the red carpet for all the celebrity ownership (which I think is ridiculous, by the way), but there are Pros and Cons on each side.  On one hand, he did turn around a team that went 1-15 to make the playoffs the following year (with Pennington, mind you), but for the last couple years, they haven't improved on the field (despite having Marshall, Wake etc...).  The offense has no imagination whatsoever, and this Parcells-derived Wild-Cat formation has got to go, as teams are not surprised by it anymore (... and Brown ran it 99% of the time anyway).  Tough call, but I don't think that they'll have the stones to get rid of Sparano, so it will likely be Henning that gets the axe, whether he deserves to go or not (you know what they say, "S--t flows down hill").  I just hope that they don't ask Saban to come back (ha ha).  Jimmy's done with Survivor, so maybe he'll be available and bring Flutie with him !!!

My Condolences re: last week, as well.  I simply do not like Coughlin, and his rant at Dodge just made me think less of him.  Sure Dodge didn't do as asked, but it should have never gotten to that point anyway.  I blame Coughlin... period!

Whaddyathink, Charlie?

Hey, String.  I understand your thinking.  But, I'm going to stick with the picks I made.  Sometimes when logic fails; like it did me last week, you have to go with your gut.

Week 16 NFL Picks & Predictions

Come on, Man!!!  I was looking forward to reading what you think about this week's games, Charlie.  Oh well, here's what I think:

I agree with all of your picks with the exception of the following:

While I hope the Bears ground the Jets, I think the Jets may want it more.  The Bears, having already locked up the division, may be looking beyond next week.  Just a hunch, but I'll take the Jets.  Who's Cutler going to throw to?

The Broncos are bad... very bad and there's a lot more bad in Denver than just bad football.  Even at 5-9, the Texans are a much better team offensively and I think Schaub will carve up the Broncos.  Tebow will have to wait for his first win.

The Colts-Raiders game is one of the toughest games to predict this week.  Manning not having Collie, in my opinion, is not a big a deal as some might think.  The Colts can't afford another loss, but it's always tough to go on the road and play a team that's on the outside looking in.  The Raiders need Santa Claus to make a number of things happen before they can even get a sniff at the playoffs, but they are technically still alive (by a thread).  Like last week, Manning bails out his D once again (if can can go the entire game without a turnover).

Whaddyathink, Charlie?
