After many years of underachieving, the Wings finally win another cup. I was really getting tired of the wings outplaying their opponent, and then getting kicked out of the playoffs. I have to say, this is one of the best teams of watched in a while and have a good future ahead of them. I could definatly see them hoisting the cup around this time next year. Even if they dont win it next year, this team will be lifting the cup again, its only a matter of time.

One of the many reasons I can see a back to back championships is the fact that this team will look identical for years to come. The only differances we may see in the next few years is Cheli retiring, and there is a question if Stuart coming back but I'm not to worried about that. Lidstrom has another 2 years on his contract however his resigning isnt even a question.

When Listrom retires, the wings may have to rebuild. However I am not worried about him retireing anytime soon. Right now he is one of the best defensman to ever play the game, and should only retire if he belives he cant help his team (or just doesnt want to play) However in two years he may not be in his prime (one of the best all time) , but he will still one of the best defensemen in the league, which gives him more of a reason not to retire. When he does retire however, he will be on the first ballet in to the HOF and number 5 will be hanging from the rafters.

The rest of our guys will be here for many years to come.

Here to many more cups in the future,

Detroit Redwings Stanley Cup Champions Future

Wings I hope you are right about the future of the Wings. I don't like to get myself hyped up too early because then I am all but guaranteed a let down. But you made good points. With the vast majority of the team returning we do have a legitimate shot. Back to back Cup wins is probably the hardest thing to pull off in professional sports, if we do it twice in nearly a decade, it would be utterly amazing.

On another note though, how about this Johan Franzen guy. Where the hell did he come from all of a sudden? Can you imagine what his number would look like if he scores like that ALL YEAR? Simply mind-blowing.

Detroit Redwings Stanley Cup Champions Future

Great Blog Wings

Although I had faith in the Red Wings throughout the series, I must say that the Penguins (with the help of the referees) put up quite a fight.  I think we'll have another great team next year and hopefully repeat this season's success.

Detroit Redwings Stanley Cup Champions Future

Wings great blog! I agree the future for this team looks fantastic. We may lose Chelios, Hasek, and possibly Stuart. Only on eof those played in the SCF. So I'm very excited about next year and a possible repeat.  I'm ready to drop the puck now. I to was tired of seeing our team win their division, and then get bumped in round 1 or 2 of the playoffs. I think this playoffs and SCF will stick out as my favorite because of our new Wings(to the SCF) Lidstrom as captain, and a lot of adversity and heart. We had a lot of ups and a few downs. I also noticed ratings were up tremendously compared to last year and almost to pre lockout levels. It's on the NHL home page. Hey Wings check out my blog. Stanley Cup Finals Sizzle or Fizzle. Great blog and we are the Red Wings are the Stanley Cup Champions of 08'. I'll never get tired of saying that.
