Personal Attacks on cbssports.com

Whats up people?

I've been a member on this page for a few years, and every football season, i step up my participation on the message boards. I love to talk shop with other NFL fans, all teams, all types.

Most of the time I enjoy a stimulative debate over plays, games, players, stats, and even sometimes the goofy tidbits like this bar owner who is roasting a bear for the Packers v. Bears game.

It's not like Im not aware that there are immature people in the world, not I don't know there are rude and condescending people in the world, but it seems like more often than not, when some "kid" or "childish member" disagree's with me about something, some like to get personal.

I know the person posting these name calling personal attack posts must be immature, a child, or otherwise just too young to realize how stupid personal attacks on these boards are.

first, you can lose your account.

second, cyber bullying is a real crime these days, and can result in jail time. REAL jail time, not some goofy game like the one you thought you were playing when you take pot shots at someone you have NEVER EVEN MET IN PERSON.

If you want to disagree with someone, engage them in a debate about whatever, thats your perogative, but to say things like.... oh your poor, your ugly, your wife is fat, your a loser, you have no life etc. or even worse.... I have had people talk bad about my mother, my family, and myself.

its too much fun I guess to shed your maturity, your intelligence when your on these annonymous boards and act a fool.

however there really is no place for it in the adult world.... i had a friend who was a bit juvenile for his age, but even he knows how to be a goofball without getting carried away and making himself look like a jerk, a fool, a moron, and a child with a chip on his shoulder for poeple who don't believe like he does about any topic under the sun.

funny thing for me as a NFL fan, a Colts fan, a Peyton Manning fan, im here to debate, to chat, to make friends, learn new things, opinions etc.

never ceases to amaze me how some people take all the fun out of something thats supposed to be above a school yard teasing session.

some posters on this board really need to grow up!

Personal Attacks on cbssports.com

Almost a year later and I'm still amused by the OP deriding a poster for a spelling error, and Sally's mocking response can't even spell the common word "sentence" correctly in her own response (see 01/24/11 @ 8:55)! Embarassed

Personal Attacks on cbssports.com

Wow.  That's all I got.  This was actually posted here?  To be taken seriously?  So in your world, only reasonable, educated, polite folks who like to say "I disagree, but I can see your point" to impersonal conversations with strangers should be posting on a free sports blog site?  That's a very SMALL circle of people in this country, sadly.  And I certainly don't want to be restricted to just those viewpoints.

I don't "think" it was your intention, but this whole posting comes off rather like you're saying "be nice, or mommy will take your account away?"  Followed by the more ominous...  "You might even go to jail!"

If Freeman, Judge or Parrish were this sensitive, they'd have all slit their wrists by now (not that some folks wouldn't appreciate that *laugh*).

But again...  Seriously?

I like to stay civil, but my enjoyment here isn't dependent upon being able to tell people how they should behave instead when I don't like it.  One fun thing to do-- close your computer.  Take some time away and talk to some REAL people, in the same physical space that you occupy.  Because THAT sounds more like what you're seeking than what goes on in typical sports blogs. CBSSports is actually pretty tame, compared to most regional newspaper sites.

Seriously though, if you want to see insult after insult, go to a Saints board or create an anti Saints thread. watch how many of those geniuses talk kindly to you. I agree there is too much negativity, but there's no stopping it. So, why bother? Cynics like me will jump all over it and make you not like me or something.

Hope the Vikings enjoy warm weather. Queer.

Personal Attacks on cbssports.com

cbssports.com does. they have rules set in place against this for real reasons. someone could take the words as an offense, do a little cyber digging and find out where you live, hunt you down and kill you and your family for leaving a comment with personal pot shots in it.... its called cyber bullying, stalking, etc. ever heard of that? i guess a regular guy expecting and asking adults to follow rules and act mature makes me not good?

Actually you are mistaken there. CBS does not prevent cyber bullying or stalking.
In fact R.W. Chan and Ian R. promote it. Both are moderators, and send private messages to trolls often right before the the attacks begin.

The trolls and stalkers spend the most time on the board, and traffic generates advertising.

So expecting this board to remain adult, or CBS to care if trolls are bullying or stalking whether online or in real life is a waste of time.

Personal Attacks on cbssports.com

methinks freeneys blitzed you. are you serious? cyber bullying? lose your account? Horrors no, anything but that. What a clown. I don't like people talking mean so I am going to put a stop to it. not only are you apparently full of yourself, you are also full of crap. grow a pair, son.
hey now mnix, i never accused anyone of cyberbullying, i only said that was the reason for certain rules on this board, and its also why we have administrators.

hell, i take all of it with a grain of salt, some people start a new account every so often because they refuse to obey the rules, i know how easy it is to get another account even after losing yours for valid reasons.

no I don't think im gonna get people to stop being "mean" but seriously, some people who do have an account that has been in good standing for more than just a few months like you and I, may think twice before responding to one of my blogs or posts in a manor inconsistant with the rules on this site.

i have a pair.... hanes boxer briefs offer support on these cold winter days.... anything else you wish to know about my balls?

and im not full of myself, i just happen to be someone who realizes that there is a mature way to act online and there is a childish way. I find my time limited on this site and prefer to engage intelligent and intellictual mature adults in sports conversations and/or debates.

i started this blog just for people like you. who may try and balk at my attempts to discourage ignorant responses to my posts, but also may see the light and possibly become online friends, or just debate back and forth without being juvenile.

being rude is ok... so you told me im full of myself or crap. you said i need to grow a pair, you said breeny blitzed me and the worst.... called me a clown.

all of that is alright, its not so childish, and you stayed on point. you made your point, and didnt have to be childish to do so.

kudos

my blog is really turning out exactly how i thought it would except more popular that i figured it would be.

thanks
