So far, yes, the Atlanta Hawks have been the best team in the league. You could make a case for Detroit, Los Angeles, and even Houston, but Atlanta is the only undefeated team to beat a playoff participant in each game. They won by double digits in Orlando, had an incredible come back win at home over Philadelphia, and tonight they defeated New Orleans on the road. Even more impressive about that last victory was the fact that they held the Hornets to just 79 points... with Chandler and Peja back in the lineup! The Hawks are looking very good right now, and they have a chance to start 6-0.
-Did anyone see the night Amare Stoudemire had in Indianapolis? 49 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks, and he was a perfect 15/15 from the foul line. That's insane! The Suns also look to be running on all cylindars, and they should be 7-1 heading in to a showdown with the Rockets.
-Detroit went to Toronto and handed the Raptors their first loss, 100-93. I don't know how Iverson will fit in with this team, but the Pistons are 4-0 and looking good. If Iverson just goes out and plays, and doesn't try to do too much, the Pistons will have a great chance to take down Boston this summer.
-Philadelphia got blasted by the Heat in Miami tonight. The 76ers were the "sexy" pick in the East, but they have been mediocre at best this season. At 2-3, they have more than enough time to get it together, but they really don't want to keep playing like this.
-Cleveland finished up a rather easy win over the Bulls just moments ago. LeBron had his first eye-popping game of the year going for 41 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. However, he did twist his ankle in the first, then appeared to aggravate it late in the 4th.
-I thought this would happen before the season, and it turns out I was right. Ben Wallace has come back rejuvenated. 14 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block for Big Ben. He is playing like a man possessed right now.
-Derrick Rose looked good at times, he finished with 20 points and 7 assists, but he really needs to work on his jumpshot. Once the Cavs decided to lay way off of him, he became a non-factor.
-Dahntay Jones of the Nuggets looks just like L.L. Cool J. Go ahead look him up. They could be twins.
-I still can't believe DeMarcus Nelson is starting for the Warriors. It seems like just yesterday I was watching this guy throw up brick after brick for the Blue Devils. He's got to be one of the top stories in the league thus far.
-The Spurs stole their first win of the year, beating Minnesota in double overtime. This win might have stopped the bleeding for the moment, but this team is in serious trouble. Tony Parker was ridiculous with 55 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds. Tim Duncan chipped in with 30 and 16, and Roger Mason had 26. However, only one other person had more than 3 points, and that was Udoka with 8. Don't let this win fool you, the Spurs are not very good right now. Even when Manu gets back, this team is going to struggle to make the playoffs. You can say all you want about how the Spurs never play well in the season in order to save energy for the playoffs, well, this is different. The Spurs are bad. It's been a while since that sentence has been written, but it's true. The Spurs are no longer an elite team in the Western Conference. Hell, they might not make the playoffs. Fortunately, San Antonio has a rather easy schedule in front of them. Their next 11 games are all winnable. We will see just how bad (or good) this team really is in these next three weeks.
