Why did God give us free will?

I have recently converted my blog from talking about games and stats of players, to a blog that will talk about God and His blessings.

My first series will be on the free will that God has given all of us. Why did he give us free will? If God wanted us to follow Him, why did He give us a choice?  Well, He gave us a choice -or free will- because He cares about us and He wants us to be able to make the right decisions on our own. That doesn't mean that He just leaves you alone in a predicament. God is with you always. He doesn't make every decision for you but He will guide you through them. God wants everyone to follow Him, and go to Heaven, too. Some people wont, though, because He gave everyone free will.

I hope you make good decisions in your life. Have a great week everyone!

Why did God give us free will?

Just my two cents about this interesting and IMO important topic, as an alternative to the prevailing opinion here that we have free will:

If you seek God's will, you don't need to look any further. Whatever happens is God's will. We can accept the blessing God is really offering us by striving to see ourselves as the mere witness of our own thoughts and actions, to see that there is no free will. That doesn't mean we act irresponsibly, but that WE don't act at all, but God is living us. The degree to which we strive for this and succeed is itself not in our own control.

The gift God is offering us surely is not freedom of agency, but freedom from agency. Because only freedom from agency can bring about true forgiveness of sins through the recognition that ultimately there are no sins, except for the sin of believing yourself to be in the driver's seat of your life, and others of theirs. But even that depends on the will of God.

Why did God give us free will?

Great Blog my friend.

When God created Adam, he created him with a mind that could think on it's own, and filled his soul with all the emotions that humans have to bless him. He gave Adam everything he needed and allowed him choices as a blessing and a way that man could have a relationship with God (which is what he truly wanted). He love Adam so much that he saw his loneliness and created him a wife in Eve, also with free will. We know what happens later :(, but even today we all have free will to chose our paths. That in itself is a blessing, that we can do and feel. I choose to Love the Lord God almighty, and I choose to grow in him. I choose to seek his will, and walk through his doors. I choose life!

Why did God give us free will?

It would not be the same if God was some puppetmaster and made us do everything. What fun would God have with that? I feel that this is what makes praise so special. God does not make us worship him, so when his children take the time to pray, sing praises or just spend some time with him, he loves it! Great thread! God bless you!

Why did God give us free will?

Great blog!

David O. McKay once said:

"Next to the bestowal of life itself, the right to direct that life is God’s greatest gift to man. … Freedom of choice is more to be treasured than any possession earth can give. It is inherent in the spirit of man. It is a divine gift. … Whether born in abject poverty or shackled at birth by inherited riches, everyone has this most precious of all life’s endowments—the gift of free agency; man’s inherited and inalienable right."

It's true!

Why did God give us free will?

God wishes for us to worship him in spirit and in truth -

If we did not have free will then our lives would be preprogrammed - Thus, we would be incapable of choosing to have a relationship with God or not -

As I consider myself and how I wish to be loved, I come to the conclusion that I want to be loved because that person CHOOSES to love me - It would be a shallow life if I required someone to love me - Is that true love - Certainly not - This is why God gives us free will -

Outside of the love factor God has given us a HUGE RESPONSIBILITY that we are incapable of handeling on our own - We are called to be responsibile for the earth and its inhabitants - We are as a people not doing a great job in this regard - We have poverty Famine neglect, etc, etc, - Could God fix this as well - Certainly, but he wants us to see to fixing it WITH HIS HELP -

God is looking for people to worship him in spirit and truth - When we do this we are connected to the creator of all - and can live in POWER, LOVE and of a SOUND MIND - Then and only then will we see the FRUITS of our labor

GOD BLESS-
