Bib's College Football Pick 'em 3: Week 9

Alright here's how this works. I'll come up with 12 games of interest every week for you all to choose from. You'll pick the winners and post them here or on the thread, whether you post them here or not, I will add them to the blog to make them easy to keep up with. I try to pick games between teams in the top 25, or in the other's recieving votes but then I move to teams with winning records then .500 records, and all teams are FBS.

Anybody is welcome to join in at any time, dont worry about missing a week if you decide to join late.

Good Luck!

This week's games:

(Rankings Reflect BCS standings)

*** Scoreboard ****

*Saturday*

#17 Oklahoma State at #22 Kansas State (5-2) Oklahoma State: 24-14

Northwestern (5-2) at Indiana (4-3) Northwestern: 20-17

Louisville (4-3) at Pittsburgh (4-3) Pittsburgh: 20-3

East Carolina (5-2) at Central Florida (5-2) UCF: 49-35

Texas A&M (4-3) at Texas Tech (4-3)  Texas A&M: 45-27

Georgia (4-4) at Florida (4-3) Florida: 34-31 OT

#5 Michigan State at #18 Iowa Iowa: 37-6

#6 Missouri at #14 Nebraska Nebraska: 31-17

California (4-3) at Oregon State (3-3) Oregon State: 35-7

Kentucky (4-4) at #21 Mississippi State Mississippi State: 24-17

#25 Baylor at Texas (4-3) Baylor: 30-22

Michigan (5-2) at Penn State (4-3) Penn State: 41-31

My Picks: 4-8 holy crap....

Both defenses are Charles Barkley Turrible but Ok state has a great offense. Despite the fact that they're on the road I think they get it done.

Northwestern only does close games so this will likely be one of those. They havent been on the road in a while though so Im taking IU at home.

defensive stats almost identical. QB stats almost identical. I have the louisville RB on my fantasy team.... I need a big game lol

gotta take the pirates. Toss up sorta though. UCF has a great defense but I like ECU's offense especially at home.

Gonna go with A&M here and contend that the Baylor game was a fluke. I was stunned that tech beat them...

Brantley sucks. Both defenses are good but Georgia has been hot against the other bad SEC teams so the streak continues lol

Should be a great game. I tried to pick reasons to take Iowa but every reason i found I could find a reason Mich State would still be able to win.

Gonna take Nebraska at home for the upset. Pass defense is strong, and missouri is pass happy . Texas game was a good wake up for the Huskers.

6 losses amongs them right? all on the road. but I still like cal to break through here. No real strong reasons. Just no reasons not to take them...

Every pick em I have to have at least two picks where I just say F the statistics Im taking them. and this will be one of those. They beat my gamecocks, and took Auburn to the wire, they get up for good opponents. Miss. St has a number beside their name but Im not fooled...

I try to make it a habit not to pick teams that lost to Iowa state as my winners . . .

Penn State's offense may be too bad to take advantage of Michigan's horrible D. and their D isnt good enough to stop the Michigan offense enough.... so yeah.

Bib's College Football Pick 'em 3: Week 9

Bib - As near as I can tell, you have me down as not submitting picks.  My record was pretty bad this week (7-5), but I did play.

Bib's College Football Pick 'em 3: Week 9

Crap, almost missed the ball this week.  In a rush-here's my weekly mediocre selections.  If you're headed to the bookie make sure to pick opposites of mine.
*Bill Snyder fends off the Cowpokes at home*
*I'll take the smart kids over the Hoosiers*
*This is football, not basketball, right?  Good, I'll take the Stache at home.*
*7 straight home teams.*
*then 2 road wins to finish em off.*
~*For some reason CBS Sports hates me and screws up my formatting every time I post now...hopefully these lame ** help.

Bib's College Football Pick 'em 3: Week 9

1. Let's face it. Neither team has much of a defense. I think Weedon/Blackmon is the difference in this game. There should be about 70 points scored in this game with OSU winning by about a touchdown.

2. The offenses are about the same overall. Northwestern ranks a little better in the run and has the better defense. That should do it.

3. Somehow Pitt is listed as better than a touchdown favorite. I don't see it that way. This should be a battle of two evenly matched teams. I am tempted to pick Louisville here for the upset, but I think Pitt is going to play well at home.

4. East Carolina's offense is a well oiled machine. Their defense, however, is a broken, rusted, piece of...well, anyway. I am feeling pressure to pick an upset here. I think Central Florida wins a close one here. Having said that, I am taking East Carolina.

5. See number 2. Texas A&M has the better rushing numbers and the better defense. Gig 'em!

6. It's going to be a dog fight and in a dogfight, you have to go with...well...dogs. Seriously, both defenses are equally solid, but Georgia's offense is a little more capable. Better QB = better offense.

7. I think Iowa will be playing with a real sense of urgency in this game. These are two evenly matched teams, though the records don't exactly support that notion. I think Iowa has a good chance to spoil Mich St's chances at a National Championship. However, Mark Dantonio will have his team ready for the challenge. They will put loads of pressure on Ricky Stanzi and pull out whatever trick play they have to to get this win. Kirk Herbstreet picked Michigan State and that guy knows his stuff. I definitely want to see this game.

8. Can anybody stop Mizzou? This should be another great game to watch. Nebraska can really run the ball. If they can keep Blaine Gabbert and company in check and control the clock, they could win this game. If Nebraska gets behind early and abandons the run, they will get crushed. They are at home after all. Wait. Didn't Texas beat them at home? Mizzou stays undefeated.

9. Cal has the better defense and a slightly more productive offense. Can they find a way to get a win on the road? I say they can.

10. Kentucky can really throw the ball. Miss St has a better run game and a stout defense. I'm not sure Kentucky can spell defense. A pretty good formula for victory is keep the other offense off the field and control the clock with the run. That is what Miss St. will do.

11. Texas ranks 84th in the nation in rushing yards and 58th in passing yards. They are going up against a team that outscores them by more than 10 points on average. It seems strange saying, considering the last couple of guys to hold that position for them, but Texas will be out-manned at QB.

12. See Bib's comments on this game. I have nothing to add. Go Big Blue!
