Vick/Favre...Tell Me Something I DON'T Know...

Posted on: May 22, 2009 4:22 pm

As the neverending saga of Brett Favre and Michael Vick unfold, I look back at all that's happened in the months since the 2008 season ended and asking myself "so what's new"? Here are the facts...

-Brett Favre was released by the Jets.
-Brett Favre is retired.
-Michael Vick was released from jail.
-Michael Vick has not been reinstated by the league.

Now all I've heard the past several weeks is the speculation surrounding Favre and the Vikings and the teams that are not interested in Vick (is this really that surprising?). But where's the news? So far, Brett is still retired and Michael Vick has not been reinstated into the NFL. Unless the status changes for both, I really don't want to hear about Favre seeing a specialist about his shoulder or seeing Vick leave prison from three different camera angles. How does this pertain to what's happening in the NFL? Here's what I want to see happen before anymore "news" about Favre and Vick.

1) Favre signs with the Vikings (or another team).
2) Vick is reinstated by Goodell.

Now that's news. From now until then, everything else in between just does not matter.

Vick/Favre...Tell Me Something I DON'T Know...

I agree whole heartedly Thrash, I'm tired with the will he or won't he saga in both men's lives.  I'd rather wait and have it be a surprise if it happens rather then play out this made for tv soap opera crap!  I'd much rather  hear about real issues as in possible injuries in the off season training, whether  the owners will add more games for us to enjoy or even what individual teams are doing for coaching pensions.  That last one seems to have  driven 2 assistant coaches for a playoff team our of the organization.  Probably that will have more impact then Favre and Vick will this year!

Vick/Favre...Tell Me Something I DON'T Know...

As much as I think the same thing Thrash, I think ESPN is salivating over the whole "Michael Vick release from Prision" episodes. For the last few weeks leading up to Vick's release, ESPN has been doing "special coverage," going deeper than we all wanted into his possible reinstatement.

They waited for several days outside his house just to get footage of him. I guess there isn't much football for them to talk about these days...

The Favre story was yesterday's news the first time we saw him sob at his first retirement press conference. What else does that guy have to prove?
