ANOTHER 2nd Round Exit For The San Jose Sharks... for the last 3 years I've watched this team enter the playoffs strong. Every year I wish to myself "THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE YEAR THE SHARKS WIN IT ALL". Going into this last postseason, there was no doubt in my mind that it was going to happen. On paper, the Sharks matched up well. They had a great mix of veterans and young players alike that contributed to a strong finish in the Pacific division. Sure...there was definitely a noticeable change when the sharks acquired Brian Cambpell from the Sabres halfway through the season. Every year for the last 3 years, it's been a 2nd round exit. I'm starting to see a pattern develop. Rumors are swirling about a coaching change. I'm not so sure that's a good idea. In 4 out of 5 years with the Sharks, Wilson posted 1st or 2nd place finishes in the Pacific division. Those 4 years (the last 4), the Sharks made it to the playoffs. He has won no less than 43 games in those years. If the Sharks can keep the current team together, Wilson is definitely deserving of another chance. In the last series against Dallas, the Sharks dropped the 1st 3 games before ratcheting up intensity and winning the next 2. The point here is that the Sharks should've never dropped those 3 games in the first place. Watching them play, they seemed almost lazy at times. I don't understand how Nabakov can give up as many goals as he does at times. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Nabi. But I get the impression somtimes that he plays for his National team harder than he plays for the Sharks...or is his national team a better team unit? I don't know. All I can say is this. If the Sharks see another 2nd round exit for the 2008-2009 season, then it's time to make some big changes...starting with the coach. He has to do a better job of motivating these players when it matters.
