3rd Sat. in October: Bama and the Vols

Well its finally here! After back and forth streaks, Bama has taken over the series and has won the last 2 and 3 of the last 4 (if Im right). Bama has just taken hold of the #1 spot in the AP Poll, after beating S. Carolina 20-6, while Tennessee is coming off of a bye after a surprising demolishing of Georgia, 45-19. Some wonder if Bama is a little bit overrated. Some want to know who the heck is going to show up this week-Crompdaddy and Da Boys, or InCromptent and... Who? So lets break it down...

Well the keys are simple for Tennessee:
1 Stop Ingram
2 Stop Ingram
3 Occasionally stop Ingram
4 And if all else fails, stop Ingram

Ok I have a feeling that they could do all for of those things and they still wouldnt be able to stop Ingram. Now I do think they will be able to slow Ingram down and have success in the 1st half and into the 3rd quarter maybe, but how long they have to stay on the field will determine final stats. I think they will have most success putting pressure on McElroy and trying to confuse him. I dont think he will have a good game. He may not lose the game for him, but look for him to struggle. Montes D is built for the more traditional style offense (see UGA game vs Aub game), which is a big plus for the Vols. Speaking of which how about their D against Georgia? Never let them get past the 34. Wow.
So can they get anything done on offense? If Hardesty has anything to say about it, the running game should do somewhat good. I dont expect the run game nor Bamas run D to have a great day, I think it will be pretty well split. The big question is what about passing game? Yeah it was against UGAs bad D, but not only did Crompton look good, but the WRs CAUGHT THE BALL! They were great. So if we see more of the same, UT has a excellent, yes, and EXCELLENT chance at beating Bama. But thats a BIG if.
Special teams will determine how big of a victory it will be for the Tide, therefore I think its the key for the game. Even though Kiffin promised improvement from the Auburn game (he said hed put every starter in there if he had to), they still played one of the worst preformances in awhile. Well Im talking about coverage. And Whomever is returning punts needs to step up. Im also assuming Arenas is going to play and be fine-so fine he looks like Mr Untouchable. I have a feeling Bama will be set up for some easy points. Maybe that helps UT since they wont be on the field as long?
I think this will be a Bama/SC type deal, one score difference until Bama puts it away with a FG.

Ok so I talked more about UT but o well lol. Heres my predicted score:

Tide 22, Vols 13

Hey TIDE,
I dont think we have any confidence in JC really lol. We have seen him do better over the last few games, not just the UGA game. And also JC might not fins success against Bama, sure, but he can still play ok for us. Remember Ill stress it again it will be ALOT with how the WRs play. THey actually caught the ball against UGA, a 1st.

Thanks for the post.

But it appears they have gotten things together in the passing game. I repeat APPEARS. We cant base it on one game but since it was their LATEST game we kinda do.

And that could be your down fall. Too much confidence could be a bad thing for you. I see where alot of your faithfull seem to think that you offense has put it all together based on that one game and I would bet your team thinks this also. This will not be a georgia defense you will face but the number 1 defense in the country. Mark my words, it will not be a cake walk for your offense. Cody will become a nightmare for crompton and if he misses it will be Reamer or Mcclain or Deaderick. This is going to be a good game and I pray for both teams to go injury free, but in the end we will stand tall and move on to the next victim on our trail for redemption in the SECCG.

... Tennessee doesn't have a great defense... but they're goodHeres where youre wrong JP, despite how inept the offense has been most of the year and despite how long they have been on the field they have been outstanding. Not knocking Bamas D because they are great as well, but alot of defenses can look good with a good O. Put Bamas D with our O and I will bet they dont do better.
And the only reason we are using the UGA game is because thats their LAST game. Doesnt always mean anything, but they are playing better RIGHT NOW. And yeah UGAs D sucks beyond everything, but Crompton still had to hit the WRs and the WRs still had to CATCH THE BALL. THats why we are optimistic. Because they played well. You can play a poor D and still play poorly (Aub game). But it appears they have gotten things together in the passing game. I repeat APPEARS. We cant base it on one game but since it was their LATEST game we kinda do.

If all else fails, stop Ingram. Made me laugh. I took a close look at Tennessee and they are better than i thought, but I think their day will be based on how the vols qb does. If Bama gets to him like they have every other qb, then Tennessee will have a long day. Especially if McElroy finds his groove.

Don't get me wrong... Eric Berry is an awesome player... Tennessee doesn't have a great defense... but they're good. South Carolina is a better balance football team than Tennessee. Stop Tennessee's running game.... confuse Crompton.... no turnovers on offense.... run the ball.... stay away from Eric Berry... and Alabama wins the game.

The main reason Auburn was able to beat Tennessee is because 5 starters were out on the Vols defense. If Tennessee didn't have so many injuries I think Tennessee would have beaten Auburn....

I think Nick Saban and all the players are going to take this game personally with Lance Thompson leaving.. the comments Kiffin made to the UT fans and boosters about Nick Saban should thank Lance Thompson... and how Alabama aint gettin no recruits from Tennessee...

Not even 24 hours later Alabama picks up a committment from Tennessee... that shows Alabama is listening to everything that mouth of Kiffin and his assistants are saying... and I think Alabama will make an example out of Kiffin....

I don't think Tennessee will get their moral victory... and I think before the game Kiffin will put his foot in his mouth.... and after the game too.

Dont look at the UGA game to decide how good the vols are this year. Remember this is the same VOLS team that lost to auburn. See you guys in T-Town and may both teams have a injury free game.

Also forgot to mention a big key for UT is eliminate Colin Peek. If they can keep him in check McElroy could be in for a tough day.

Well if they do well enough to stop Ingram, then I think they can stop the others. Depends on how oftern they get back on the field. Tennessee needs to score early and not let Bama get ahead early and be content to run it down their throats.

I know Bama has got a good run D but dont be surprised if Hardesty has a decent game. He did against Florida with NO passing game and they knew they could only run it and he still had success, and he continues to each week. We'll see just how important it is for UTs passing game to get going early.

Good points, but after stopping Ingram you have to stop Upchurch, Richardson, and wait for it if our QB can get his act together Julio.

Our job is to get Crompton hello Cody, Deaderick, Reamer and McClain.

Maybe we'll have a good game. Like they say any Sat.
