STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS

FOOTBALL:  HOUSTON NUTT HAS THINGS WELL IN HAND.  LOOK FOR 7 WINS IN A TOUGH SEC WEST AND INDEPENDENCE OR MOTOR CITY BOWL BID.

BASEBALL:  CAN BIANCO GET THE REBELS HEADS OUT OF THEIR BUTTS AND GET THEM BACK TO PLAYING THE LEVEL OF BASEBALL WE HAVE BEGUN TO BE ACCUSTOMED TO?

BASKETBALL:  GIVE AK AN EXTENSION NOW,  AND GET SOME SORT OF SOLID PLAN IN PLACE TO UPDATE THE TAD PAD FOR NOW AND LOOK TO A NEW COLISIUM ASAP!

ANY OTHER SPORTS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN, POST AWAY.

STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS 5-1-09

I believe that things are going well at Ole Miss right now. But we still have a long way to go in the national picture as far as image is concerned. Let me explain what i mean.
1. Last year, the NCAA sent the baseball Rebs to Miami where they knew we would not get past Miami and advance.

2. This year's tennis invitation really upset me. In spite of leading the nation in attendance, the NCAA sent the team to the regional in LSU. Why did this happen? Even if we make it past LSU in round 2, which will be a tall order, we still may have to face Texas AM in the round of sixteen (potentially) at A and M.

What is it about the NCAA and why does it appear that they want to shaft us every time they get a chance?
AM I READING ANYTHING THAT IS NOT THERE? I have expressed my opinion to them at the feedback link on the NCAA.com website. It just appears to me that we do not get a fair shake in the national tournament pictures. AM I WRONG?
I think football , basketball, and baseball are going well. Tennis is tremendous but this type of thing (ncaa championship placement) seems to be discouraging to the coaches and our great fans. Coach Chadwick (tennis) has even said that it can hurt when he is trying to build a program.

Will there be anyone that will help take up this cause? I just want Ole Miss to be treated fairly.

Football:  seven wins will be tough with a trip to Wake on the nonconfereence schedule but if the defense shows up this year, it could happen.  Wins: Memphis (home), Samford (home), Vandy (home), LA Monroe (home), S. Carolina (home), State (home), Alabama (road), Arkansas (road) and maybe Wake (road).

Those are definitely nine winnable games you’ve listed.  I can’t imagine us winning all nine, but seven is realistic.  A return to the post season would be great after the last few tough years.  We’ll see what happens…but here’s to dreaming since we’re currently still undefeated!

Come on . I loved Billy Brewer. Orgeron sucked. Cutcliffe went as far as Eli Manning would take him and Tub was looking for a better deal as soon a he got there. Brewer was a good recruiter. We played great defense when he was there.

Agree completey but like to add:

Football:  seven wins will be tough with a trip to Wake on the nonconfereence schedule but if the defense shows up this year, it could happen.  Wins: Memphis (home), Samford (home), Vandy (home), LA Monroe (home), S. Carolina (home), State (home), Alabama (road), Arkansas (road) and maybe Wake (road).  The Wake, Arkansas and Bama games depend on whether we are decent on the road.  After Saban's comments in that BS win in Oxford last season, I expect the team to be fired up.  Wake will just depend on the team stepping up.  Arkansas is Nutt's return home, the team should be ready to win against a team with a new offense and no McFadden or Jones in the backfield.

Baseball:  let's not get too spoiled.  Bianco is a hell of a coach and we lost a lot of talent last year.  We should make it to a regional easily but hosting one and playing beyond will be overachieving.  I think next year will be the year the Rebs make it to the Series.

Basketball:  the university better step up and lock AK to a long term deal and build a new stadium.  There's no reason our home stadium should sit less than 10k in the SEC today.  The Tad Pad is a relic and needs to be turned into a museum.

Just when I write them off they sweep Vandy. What the f--k guys? I have switched to ASU for the remainder of the season and no I will not jump on the Ole Miss bandwagon if they get their shit together. I hope they keep it up.

Another lost weekend for the Rebels baseball team. I have never been so disappointed with a team in my life. I can't understand what went so terribly wrong with these guys.

For whatever reason they were just enamored with Russ Shows. He had terrible touch and couldn't run. They got down on Luke because he played baseball in 91' instead of spring practice.

Tommy Luke was always real gritty.  He might not have been the best quarterback, but he left it all on the field.  On a side note, my mom was in the same class as his dad in high school.
