STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS

FOOTBALL:  HOUSTON NUTT HAS THINGS WELL IN HAND.  LOOK FOR 7 WINS IN A TOUGH SEC WEST AND INDEPENDENCE OR MOTOR CITY BOWL BID.

BASEBALL:  CAN BIANCO GET THE REBELS HEADS OUT OF THEIR BUTTS AND GET THEM BACK TO PLAYING THE LEVEL OF BASEBALL WE HAVE BEGUN TO BE ACCUSTOMED TO?

BASKETBALL:  GIVE AK AN EXTENSION NOW,  AND GET SOME SORT OF SOLID PLAN IN PLACE TO UPDATE THE TAD PAD FOR NOW AND LOOK TO A NEW COLISIUM ASAP!

ANY OTHER SPORTS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN, POST AWAY.

STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS

You are correct my good man. I was at the night game as well. We scored late for the win. I came over to Athens that year and we beat UGA 28-12. We played UT in Memphis because Kroger put up the cash to move it when both teams were rolling. We had 500 yards offense and 13 points. Tough one to lose. To this day Tom Luke is my favorite Rebel.

STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS

I was at Ole Miss for the first night game.  There was nothing quite like a "home game" against Memphis State in Jackson.  If I remember right, didn't we play a home game in Memphis against UT?  Seems like Kroger paid Ole Miss $1 million to move the game from Oxford.

40,000 and had no lights and for the good teams you had to drive your butt to Jackson.

I found this post a little late.  I agree that AK needs an extension.  He is a helluva coach, imo, and needs to be around Oxford for a long time.  I think Nutt will help turn our football program around.  I don't think it'll be an instant change.  After all, he has a huge mess to clean up from Orgeron.  All I can say about the baseball team is that I am very disappointed in them.

Our facilities are better now than they were when I was there, except for Tad Smith.  They need to raze that place and get us a new facility.

STATE OF OLE MISS SPORTS

1988-91- I was a northern transfer from New York and never stepped foot on campus until the day I enrolled. I loved every minute of it . My best friends to this day I met there. Sad thing is even though I only live in Atlanta, I have not made it back to Oxford since the Auburn game in 1992! I do make it to Auburn every other year when we are there and also to UGA when they play here. Trying to talk my niece into going to law school there. I just hope by paying Nutt they quit trying to do things on the cheap. I knew Orgeron would be a bust. Unfortunately you get what you pay for.

I understand.  I believe the SEC is so very different now than it was in Brewers era that I am not sure he could have done any better.  The loss of Tubby, as much as I despise him today, set this program back alot.  If it werent for Eli, we would have truly had an awful run the past decade or so.  The fact we only had one decent season with Eli tells you the overall state of the program, which is why a proven winner like Nutt appeals so much to me.  JMO.  I graduated in 94, when were you there?

I interned in the recruiting department when Brewer was there so I have a soft spot for him. I get tired of a nine win season every 5-6 years and nothing in between.
