Yankees = America

I was just reading Eric Mack's rankings and the funniest thing just happened.  Some guy was commenting on how the Rays start this season was not that big a deal.  He was submoronic spouting out incorrect facts and stupid comments.  He was a jackass.  I soon found out he was something much worse ,  he was a Yankee Fan.  The replies to his post came fast and furious.  They were more venomous by the post.  The funny thing was they were from Ray's Fans.  Ray's Fans.  I'll be the first to agree that they have a nice young team .   I think they even have a bright future.  Having said that there is no way on God's green world that a Ray's fan should be talking trash to a Yankee fan, no matter how stupid he is.  Let's see the model of consistency vs a team that's never been .500.   Are we supposed to forget the last 12 years because the Yanks have had a couple of bad months?  How many playoffs in a row?  How many championships?   In the world of sports find me an organization with more cosistent success?  That's right it doesn't exist.  No team during that span has played in more consecutive postseasons.  The Patriots and Spurs have as many championships, but not as many playoffs in a row.  Could you imagine some hick from Memphis talking junk about the Spurs  or a Falcons fan talking smack about the Pats.  Crazy right.  It seems everybody wants to jump on the Yanks while they're down.  That's ok.  I'm used to it I'm an American.  I'm used to people's jealousies. With both America and the Yankees we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.  We're the richest and the most successful and by far the most maligned.  Do you really think the terrorist states of this world really hate us for any other reason than jealousy?   They hate how prosperous and free we are.  These same people come in droves to America and enjoy all the upward mobility and opportunites our country has to offer.  The same hipocracy can be found with the Yankee haters.  If their team spent what the Yankees spend and won like the Yanks won they would be doing cartwheels.  They complain and whine about how much Steinbrenner spends.  Isn't that what everyone would want their team's owner to do?  Of course it is .  Yankee haters are all the same they would rather see the Yanks lose than see their team win.  How about worrying about your team?  It's easier to hate on the Yanks than deal with your own  team's frustrations and limitations.  It's a tragically sad way to live.   I wouldn't trade being a Yankee fan for anything.  The joy and wonderful experiences they've provided me are too numerous to mention and the memories are unforgettable.  I guess it's kind of like being an American.  Maybe that's why I'm so passionate about the Yanks.  You know even though I pay almost $4 a gallon for gas,  pay high taxes,  and don't agree with  almost  anything our President does I thank God I'm an American.  I once spent a week in Spain and saw how people outside of America lived.  If you were born to a farmer you were going to be a farmer, if you were born poor you would proabably die that way.  That's not living to me .  I guess that's what it must feel like to be a Ray's fan.

Yankees = America

;     Maybe I didn't elaborate on my experiences abroad sufficiently.  I have had family members live in Europe and South America my entire life.  I have visited Argentina, Spain, Germany, Italy , England, Mexico, Austria, Greece,and unfortunately France.  I have been to these places many times over the course of the last 30 years.  I have seen the living conditions, I have been affected directly by them.  Most places have been good experiences.  However the amenites and the standard of living has Never compared to what we have here.  I could be born the poorest slob in America and still be able to attain wealth , status and a high standard of living.  If you think that it's that easy to do that in those other countries You are completely ignorant.

Yankees = America

The Yankees have been and continue to be a model for a successful professional sports franchise.  With that being said, I am not a Yankees fan, or a Red Sox fan either. I am a Cubs fan, but a fan of MLB even more so. I enjoy watching teams like the Rays trying to develop their own talent and maximize every dollar they spend. It reminds me of what it must of been like to watch a professional sports team before the development of free agency. I believe that Boston has the best model right now as to how to build a successful team. They have a good mix of home grown farm system players combined with free agent signings. If you haven't noticed, the Yanks are going the same route. I don't hate the Yanks, they are an integral part of MLB. I mean what would the Star Wars saga be if there was no Evil Empire?

About the part of your post about being in Spain for a week and somehow knowing what is like to live outside of the U.S. is completely ignorant.
