I allowed myself to be swayed by a few please as well as the comments posted. If you haven't voted before please feel free to vote anyway. The more opinions the better.

Well my favorite band of all time, The Who, was eliminated though I can't say I was surprised by it as Pink Floyd certainly was a great band.

Semi-finals Are Ready For Voting

Ok, my modem went out last Friday and now I'm back in time for the semis.

The Beatles - It's been over 35 years since the Beatles cut a record, but they still influence rock music like no other. Led Zep was a great band for sure, but the Beatles are Arnold Palmer to Led Zeps Gary Player. ( Gary Player was a favorite of mine BTW)

Pink Floyd - I voted for the Who and the Stones in the last round, but after some thought, I decided that the Stones haven't really produced anything worthwhile in maybe 25 years, so their longevity doesn't win them any points with me, but Pink Floyd on the other hand could probably rerelease any number of their albums and anyone who hadn't heard of them would call it innovative - not knowing that it was created years ago.

Eric Clapton - What can you say about EC that hasn't been said. While Dylan was a great songwriter, I've never heard or seen anything written about his performances unless it was negative. Plus, if I'm thinking about rock music, I wouldn't put Dylan in the top 50, maybe not in the top 100. Not trying to irritate any Dylan fans, but I don't associate him with rock music at all. The only rock song I know of that he wrote was All Along the Watchtower, but I don't know that it was a rock song before Jimi made it one. There are others, I'm sure, but I don't know what they might be.

This is probably the hardest one of all, because both are legendary performers in totally different ways, so after silently reflecting for about a minute, I'm going with Springsteen. Not really sure why, just going with my gut on this one.

Thank you Yank, you have done a great job running this poll.

Semi-finals Are Ready For Voting

Here are my picks, based on personal preference as opposed to musical influence.

Band Bracket:

Led Zeppelin -- This one was easy for me.  Led Zeppelin is far and away my favorite rock and roll band!

Pink Floyd -- This one was much harder, but I give the nod to Pink Floyd because it's great music to listen to when you're stoned! LOL!

Solo Acts:

Eric Clapton -- I'm a huge Dylan; I think he's one of the great songwriters of our generation, but Slowhand is a God -- I never tire of listening to his music, which I believe is more versatile than Dylan's strumming guitar and harmonica.

Jimi Hendrix -- This one was really tough, but at the end of the day, how can I vote against arguably the greatest guitar player ever!

Looking forward to seeing who ends up in the finals!
