Well here are the match ups for round 2 of the voting for the best shows in the history of television. You need not have voted before to do so now. So tell your friends and let's see how many votes we can get.

I decided to post the number of votes received by each show in the first round on a separate page.
You will see that the total number of votes in a few match ups are not the same as a few voters did not cast a vote in every pairing. Here is the link if you are interested: http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/blogs

Next week I will add the brackets for westerns to the blog. I am still accepting nominations for them, up to 10 shows can be named, as well as the 5 most memorable things you ever saw on TV. As usual I will only be casting a vote if one is needed to break a tie.

Please take the time to rate your fellow posters here, I am sure they will do the same for you. Of course I thank you all for your contributions, without them this blog would not be worth much.

Vote in round 2 for the Best in Television

Great job Yank!

As far as the Westerns go the runaway winner has to be Gunsmoke doesn't it. Matt Dillon was an asskicker.

DRAMAS

Star Trek- Hill Street was a great written show, but ST just caught my attention when I was a kid.

Quantum Leap-Inventive idea. I liked the ep. were he became Buddy Holly.

Hawaii 5-0-Just for the theme song, and Book 'em Dano.

Northern Exposure-I didn't watch either of these shows, but Janine Turner gets my vote.

Mannix-just because I hated the Miami Vice look, put on some socks already.

Magnum PI-24 is just a propaganda show by Fox to get people to think torture is ok.

CSI-don't watch either but CSI is fresh and different.

Rockford Files-funny and smart.

Dexter-a show about a killer who kills killers. what could be better.

Dallas-Victoria Principle, a 15 year olds dream girl

Perry Mason-poor Hamilton Burger, he never won a case.

Twilight Zone-brilliant show

The Shield-no reason

Marcus Welby-don't watch House which is prob better, but I did watch MW MD

I Spy-Bill Cosby, enough said.

In the Heat-loved the movie.

COMEDIES

Bob Newhart-Seinfeld is one of my favorite shows, unfortunately Newhart is my fav. Great characters.

Cheers- Loved the Coach.

Curb your Enthusiasm-Larry David is a genius and MASH became lame after McClean Stevenson left.

All in the Family-A lot of posters talked about how ground breaking this series was. But it really wasn't because today this show would never make the airwaves. Have we progressed or regressed in this country?

Married w/ Children-Al Bundy was the greatest and a slutty Christina Applegate gets my vote.

Simpsons-Best written show ever.

Andy Griffith-Besides naming his kid Opie he was a great dad.

Barney Miller-I loved 3's Co, John Ritter was great. But Barney Miller was a great character driven show. Little Leavitt. LOL.Plus the great bass line to begin the theme song.

Taxi-Rev Jim, Elaine Nardo.

Get Smart-Hilarious catch phrases and gadgets. Happy Days became too much about Fonzie.

HoneyMooners-I just love this show. Norton never fails to crack me up even though I have seen every episode.

Sanford and Son-You big dummy. I'm coming Elizabeth, it's the big one.

Soap- this was a really funny show

WKRP-Loved the Big Guy, Herb Tarlek and Les Nesman's band-aids and fake office walls.

Friends-didn't like either show that much but Lisa Kudrow is very funny as Phoebe.

I Love Lucy-There is nobody like Lucille Ball. The Vitameatavegimin sketch maybe the funniest moment in TV history.

12.  Sanford and Son (Best theme song ever!)

No offense JohnnyTeach but make mine Chico and the Man. I dig that song.

Taxi

Vote in round 2 for the Best in Television

1. Hill St
2. NYPD Blue
3. Hawaii 5-0
4. The sopranos
5. Mannix (even though I never saw it.  I hated Vice)
6.  Magnum
7.  CSI
8.  Rockford
9.  Dexter
10. Lost
11.  Perry Mason
12. St. Elsewhere
13. ER
14. Marcus Welby
15. Law and Order
16.  In The Heat of the Night

Comedies

1. Seinfeld (tough break for the original newhart.  I would have voted for it over just about any other show).

2.  Cheers
3.  MASH
4.  All in The Family ( a testament to the acting ability of Carol O'Connor that he is on both the comedy and drama list)
5.  Married...With Children
6. Simpsons
7.  Andy Griffith
8.  Barney Miller
9. Taxi (A very close call here.  Frazier was a brilliantly written show, but Taxi's characters put it over the top, Rev. Jim, Louie, and Latka.  Three of the greatest sitcom characters ever).
10.  Get Smart (happy days was good for a while, but Get Smart had Buck Henry at the helm, a comedy genius)
11.  Homeymooners
12.  Sanford and Son (Best theme song ever!)
13. Soap
14.   WKRP
15. Friends (both started strong, but limped to the finish line.  Friends was more adult.  It gets my vote for that reason only.)
16.  I Love Lucy (another tough break for Newhart.  Just like Newhart though to get overshadowed by other comdey giants)

Great job Yank.
