The road to South Africa 2010...

Posted on: February 12, 2009 2:54 am

The journey always seems longer than what it is...

And it never matters how you get there, as long as you arrive...

With that in mind, the Republic of Ireland are giving themselves a good chance of qualifying for South Africa...

And so are a few others, as I can't watch all the games, I thought I'd start this blog to get some info for other countrys and their road's to Africa 2010...
Feel free to drop by with scores, tables or any qualifying fun I  may have missed...

Good journeys to all... Smile

The road to South Africa 2010...

Jim, I can't believe Rob Green hasn't got a look yet, this would've been a good game for him last night...
James has been getting pounded at Pompey and shouldn't even have a sniff at International level, just wrong...
It's a pity for Jag but better for England he get's exposed now rather than when it matters, personaly I don't think he's international quality, Lescott's the better defender at Everton...

McGeady looked good, bit better delivery was needed last night but it's all about 3 points...

And the Ref gave them to us...

Big time...

But he did seem to be enjoying himself with the lads after the game though... Sealed

Oops, did I say that out loud? Laughing

That decision wouldn't have looked out of place at Old Trafford... Wink

Cam, A win's a win and this is a good one, even if the Mexicans were out of sorts, they can still play and are one of the better sides form North America...

3 points in the bag.
Job done.

Be happy, South Africa is in sight... Smile

The road to South Africa 2010...

Wednesday 11th February...

Croke park...

46 seconds on the clock, all looks good...
What a difference a second makes, 1 nil down, at home, in a tough game...

But they don't call it "Luck of the Irish for nothing" although it may have taken a bit longer than it should have, I'm not talking minutes on the pitch, I'm talking about years but the luck returned last night...
Dubious is not quite the word for the penalty but when things go your way, you tend to agree with it...
(No chance was it a penalty though)

Robbie Keane's 73rd minute penalty, easy finish, put us back in the game but still wasn't helping much, we needed the win...
Oh, it was Robbie's 36th goal for Ireland, he wouldn't wait long for No37...

Not 5 minutes later, Robbie was on the end of a fine corner from McGeady, keeping an eye on this one, 2-1 Ireland...

And that would be how it would finish...
3 more points and only a goal behind Italy but level on points...

Next up: Bulgaria...

Then Italy...

Away... Laughing

The road to South Africa 2010...

The US is sure to dominate as evidenced by their 2-0 domination of Mexico... sorry I couldn't finish that without busting out laughing. Next thing you know I'll be claiming Tottenham will be top 4 in the EPL by end of season.
