Mocking a team...

A mock draft...
A mock team...
A mock competition...

What a good thing to pass the off season with...

So, a keeper, 4 defenders, 5 midfielders and a lone striker and off to war I go...

This should be fun, I'm looking forward to everyone's take on their teams and how they'd work...

I'm quite happy with mine, I didn't miss out on any players I wanted, maybe one or two...
But adapt and move on...

Now on to my team...

And how they'll play...

Mocking a team...

The Bench:

Midfield:

Andrea Pirlo, Top end play maker, and good partner to Gatusso, he'd be an easy fit for Baby Cesc, if Cesc needed a nappy change or bottle feed...
Pirlo has the skills to open defences doors and wouldn't change much in the way my team would play...
Maybe I sholud have gone for someone to make a bigger difference and change the way we play but Guus-Guss has only one way to play...
And Pirlo fit's just that bill...

Andrea Zola, An indulgance pick, what can I say?
I know nothing of him apart from the saying...
"The apple never falls far from the tree"
And Frankie Zola is that tree...
If this kid has half his tallent, he'll be dynamite...
He'd be a different prospect for my left wing, an unknown, but youth and exuberance would go along way...
Plus his Daddy's skills... Laughing

Striker:

Bojan Krkic, Barcelona's wonder kid...
Now if only I could remember the name of their last wonder kid?
Lionel untidy or something like that...
This kid has one hell of a bright future and the skills to see it through...
To fit with my lone striker tactic, Krkic would change that to a two man front, youth and experience up front, what more would you want?
Krkic has done enough to show Barca's bosses that he's worthy of starting and we'll see a lot more of him now that Eto'o has moved on
Just like Klose, Krkic has ariel ability to feed of my wingers and marauding full backs, plus the skills on the floor to utilise Cesc/ Pirlo's defence spliting passes...
What a potential killer sub...
Better than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer...

Mocking a team...

Striker:

Miroslav Klose, I've gone for a lone striker, and one with experience, to lead the line...
Klose has been there and done it all, all levels of competition, against any of the best the world has to offer...
The Bundesliga, Europe and International level, he's scored at all levels, and with the service my full backs and midfield can provide, he'd bag a whole lot more...
I've gone for the lone striker option on the basis of most teams I'd be facing will have a back 4 or 3 man midfield...
A lone striker may be easier to pickup but Klose will be able to drag central defenders out of position allowing Frank Lampard and his patented late runs to cause hell with the other defenders...
Klose isn't just in here to score goals, he's here in a team effort...

Mocking a team...

Midfield:

Holding MF: Gennaro Gattuso, The Snarler, my bite in the center, my spoiler...
Gattuso is a ball winner, the protection the defence craves, each successful team has one and so do I...
He'd provide the protection and discipline, so the more flair players can do their thing up field, where they're supposed to be...
Gattuso has shown he can protect the back four at AC while allowing Pirlo do create havoc with his passing...
Oh, I have Pirlo too...
Gattuso is my rock, allowing my other center mid's to roam forward and play football...

Center MF: Cesc Fabregas, My play maker, the heart of this team, everything would go through baby Cesc...
This guy is world class, there isn't anything he hasn't seen or done on a football pitch, U17 and Euro winner with Spain, he's been to a champions league final with Arsenal, won an FA cup with them, plus, is their Captain...
Not bad for someone that's just turned 22!!!
He has the world at his feat and the ability to conquer it...
Captain Cesc...
He's captain for a resaon...

Frank Lampard, Goal scoring genius, 20+ goals a season with Chelsea for the last millennium and all from midfield!!!
Not the most creative but that's not why you have him...
He has endless energy and the best late runs in the box ever...
He's so hard to track, team's know what he's going to do, yet, he still does it!?!
the man is a ghost in the box and always manages to pop up with vital goals...
He's my man to support my lone striker, to back him up and feed off of him...
He still get me 20 goals in this compo too...

Left wing: Wesley Sneijder, This man stood out for me when he played for Holland in the Euros a few years back, pretty quick, strong and a very good crosser...
He was my man of the tournament and for that reason, the Real Madrid winger will be utilising my Left wing, He can play in the center but I'll be using him on the left as cover for the marauding Lahm...
Very tallented player that'd I'd be very happy to see at the bridge...

Right wing: Maxi Rodriguez, I've always said you should fit an Argentinian player in your team, two would be great, anymore than that and you're screwed...
Maxi makes one for my team...
Natural winger with pace and leadership abilitys, Maxi has a South American flair and all the tallent that goes with it and should have fun with Boswinga backing him up...
Or over lapping him...

Mocking a team...

Defence:

Goalkeeper: Victor Valdes, Barcelona's No1 and long standing No1 at that!!!
This treble winning keeper probably wouldn't be my first choice but it's hard not to go with the keeper of the all conquering treble winners that are Barca...
And it's not like he's had nothing to do, Barca's defence isn't renowned for it's stout defending, so he's had to make saves and he has!!!
He's kept out Man U, Chelsea and Bayern and these were just the teams in the quarter finals of the Champions league!!!
He's a very tallented keeper and now he has a defence in front of him...

Center backs: Jamie Carragher and Kolo Toure, Two tough defenders, great tacklers and winners both...
Neither of these guys take prisioners and up against some of the Mock teams they'll be up against, they'll need to be ruthless...
I think both of these guys can read the game really well and for me, a defender who canread the game makes up for any amount of pace you can put in a defender, as Tony Adams and Bobby Moore always demonstrated, you den't need pace to get the ball, you just have to know were it's going and win the tackle...
Kolo and Jamie do just that...
Maybe I can call them Bobby Toure and Tony Carragher...
Quite fitting, I think...

Left back: Philipp Lahm, Germany's premier full back, pace, attack, great crosser, fine finisher and he can defend some too...
He is German after all...
Lahm, for me, would provide great service going forward and his pace would be vital in keeping in line with the likes of Ronaldo or Messi, what I think he brings is the forward support my lone striker team would need, as well as being able to get back if it all goes horribly wrong...
I've designed both of my full backs in the same way and, as we'll be playing against top opposition, I've given them extra cover from the wings too...

Right back: Jose Boswinga, See above, I've carbon coppied my full backs, everything Lahm offers me on the left, Jose gives me from the right...
But, I've yet to find my right winger that can protect Jose's forward runs...
Vital draft coming up!!!
