Prayers Please

Posted on: November 25, 2009 12:51 am
I know this is totally not related to sports, but it means a good bit to me, so please bear with me. I know I have some guys that tend to read my blog, so I'm just trying to get out there as much as I can.

A couple of years ago my cousin adopted a baby from Russia. Shortly after birth he was abandoned in a small Russian city. When people finally found him and took him to the hospital, doctors diagnosed him as being autustic. Now, about 4 years later, he has grown and it's hard to see sometimes that he is autustic. My family thought we and Alex (the baby) had accomplished big things with him learning how to talk correctly, count, and play similar to another child.

Unfortunately, we got terrible news earlier this week. Alex has been diagnosed with cancer on his adrenal glands, which are located next to/on the kidneys. This has been a tragic nightmare for my family as of his conditions already. However, doctors believe they have found it quick. He went into surgery earlier today so that doctors could maybe get a closer look at things.

I ask that you please keep my family in your prayers as Alex has to overcome another huge obstacle in his life. You don't really notice how serious cancer is sometimes until it strikes someone close to you. At least that was the case for me. This has been devastating to us all and very unexpected.

I thank you for taking your time to read this. I ask again to keep my family and Alex in your prayers as he tries to make his fight against cancer. May God bless you all!

Guy I have some bad news. I've been told that Alex has about a 20% chance to live. However, that's better than nothing. There is still a chance out there.

If you'd like to find out more about Alex and his story, you can visit this website. It kind of helps out the families. You can donate to them, let them know you care about them, etc.

Once you get there, go to View I believe it is, and put alexkallas in the blank

I'm sorry to hear that. Cancer is tough. Many of my family members have suffered from cancer and you always think that they'll be the last one in your family to get it. Then a year later someone else has it. I've lost two family members in the last two years due to cancer and there is a third that is well on his way.

I know it is tough but you guys will come together as a family. Cancer can help in positive ways you've never thought of.

He is in my prayers along with the rest of your family.... Good luck.
