Round 1. The crowd is insane. They clinch. Loud GSP chants. Both men use knees from the clinch. GSP goes for the takedown. BJ defends. GSP keeps looking for the takedown, while BJ throws punches. They break. They trade punches, with GSP landing the best of the exchange. They go back to the clinch. GSP keeps going for the takedown but BJ blocks all attempts. Remember GSP was able to take down Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck, champion wrestlers and bigger than BJ, constantly. GSP is using his jab to get the better of the standup exchanges. BJ looks a little frustrated. 10-9 St. Pierre.

Round 2. BJ lunges in and GSP counters with a punch. GSP is mixing up shots to the head and body. GSP again clinches, which draws some boos. BJ throws some punches to the side of the head and defends the takedown. But GSP gets it one minute into the round. BJ works the rubber guard. GSP lands a hard elbow. GSP postures up and drops bombs into BJ's guard. GSP gains side control and throws a series of punches to the head. BJ works back into butterfly guard, which gets a big cheer from his fans. GSP is now in the guard, but is throwing hard punches and elbows. GSP continues to punish BJ with punches and elbows. He gains side control momentarily but BJ reacquires guard. Loud GSP chants. GSP continues to hammer BJ at the end of the round. BJ is bloody but all things considered looks okay. 10-8 St. Pierre. This could be a long night for BJ Penn.

Round 3. GSP moves in with low kicks and a superman punch. He's mixing up punches high and low and looks a lot faster than BJ now. BJ is bleeding badly from the nose. GSP scores the takedown, again one minute into the round. BJ is using butterfly guard as GSP throws down punches. BJ hasn't been able to threaten from the bottom thus far. GSP with hard punches and hammerfists but BJ gets up and goes for a takedown of his own. GSP blocks and takes BJ back down. GSP continues to pound BJ as the round comes to an end. 10-9 St. Pierre, and that wasn't outside the realm of another 10-8 round, either. This is starting to become reminiscent of GSP vs. Jon Fitch.

Round 4. GSP picking BJ apart with punches and low kicks. GSP goes for a double leg and this time the takedown is easy. GSP is raining down elbows right here in front of the press. GSP has BJ's arms trapped just like Hughes/Penn II and is throwing unanswered punches but BJ is able to escape that position and secure half guard. GSP works back into side control and again starts throwing unanswered punches. Herb Dean looks to be considering stopping the fight, but BJ Penn as champion does deserve every benefit of the doubt. GSP looks to mount but BJ is able to stop that. A big cheer erupts from his fans, but GSP quickly works back into side control. GSP drops a very hard elbow and is pounding BJ into the mat with punches. GSP is looking to finish the fight and BJ is covering up. With just seconds remaining in the round GSP is pouring it on looking for the finish but he doesn't get it. 10-7 St. Pierre. What can you even say at this point?

The fight is called off. That's the right decision by the doctor. GSP wins in utterly dominant fashion, destroying BJ Penn like nobody else has ever even come close. He's at an incredible level right now to the point it's going to be hard to sell anyone as viable opposition outside of Anderson Silva, and at this point I would strongly favor GSP to win that fight.

HAHAHA strongly favor GSP over silva??? I don't know how you can say that when no one in the UFC has beaten silva and two people have beaten GSP. This writer sounds very ignorant with a statement like that. I think it would be a good fight but silva would either knock GSP out or submit him, he is even a level above st. pierre

There's a difference between quitting and not being able to do any damage at all to your opponent... GSP is way too big for BJ, even though I'm a BJ fan and that was painful for me to watch, I'll admit it.  BJ couldn't do anything to GSP.  He got dominated on the ground, and he didn't even do too hot standing either, where I thought he would have the advantage.

BJ needs to stay at 155 and fight Florian... I fight I think he can win if he dedicates himself.  Florian lost to Sherk who BJ destroyed...

Huh?  So, then, how was BJ fighting "dirty"?

BJ turning his head is a smart tactic when you're getting blasted on the side of the head and you can't do squat b/c GSP just passed your guard with ease as if Vaseline were rubbed on his legs (lol).

I mean, if your'e getting pounded and beaten like a little bitch, why the hell would you keep your head in the same spot?  Turn your head, so he can no longer make legal contact.

That's about all BJ could do once GSP got side control.  GSP had full control on top and just kinda toyed with BJ through the entire fight.

For the person who said BJ "onwed" GSP in the 1st round ... you sure you were watching UFC94?  I'm a BJ Penn fan more than GSP, but Penn had not business stepping in that ring with GSP.  One came prepared to fight.  The other came for who knows what.  Penn's lack of game plan or attack was ridiculous.  HOw do you not strategize for sucha  big match.

I luv BJ and the guy is primo talented.  I'm just tired of waiting for him to get his shit together.  He's 30 now, and he will never be on the level of a Randy Couture re. physical and mental preparation.  BJ's window is closing quickly now.  He may have a little more glory left at 155, but the sun is already starting to set now.

I don't think the Spider - Rush fight will happen. GSP is not the greedy type who wants to make UFC history by holding two belts at once. That's something only Baby Jay would do. I mean maybe he should have defended his own title first. He just made himself look like a tool and saved himself the embarrassment of a KO by quitting at the end of the 4th Round. I think Thiago Alves or Diego Sanchez are the only guys that can even challenge GSP right now. That would be a good matchup to determine the top contender at 170.

I think for the last fight on his contract Anderson might do a fight against GSP because I don't see him signing an extension.

<p style="font-size: 11px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;">bj was owning him until he ran out of gasPenn always runs out of gas. He is lazy and doesn't have the dedication to be an elite fighter anymore. He just wants to be a celebrity here in Hawaii. He'd rather go to the bar and get drunk and flaunt himself all over the island than train hard and be a true champion. Its a shame because it is such wasted talent. I knew he was going to get beat down in this fight as I think most people did. The worst part is quitting though. What a waste.

Did anybody think this was going to be a good fight?  GSP is bigger, stronger, and probably quicker.  BJ's biggest asset is his flexibility.  This wasn't a fight, BJ's a lightweight.  It was a filler until somebody can step it up in the welterweight division.

B.J. Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre

B.J. Penn is a dirty fighter with his open fist with Matt Hughs and with GSP.  There was a blog that said GSP kept giving blows to the head but, obviously that man didnt see well that actually BJ would turn his head as GSP thru the blows.  GSP is a classy man and respectable fighter, I was happy to see him give BJ a beating.  BJ let his head get too big thinking he is the best and, he is a good fighter in some areas but, by far GSP is "The Best" fighter!  I am from Hawaii but, I dont like dirty fighters, arrogant, and or disrespectful ones, I enjoy the classy, professional, and a fighter that has respect and sportsmanship.  Hopefully BJ will be more humble after this and not so arrogant!  GO GSP you are the Man!
