BCS Bowl Predictions

Rose Bowl - Penn State vs. USC

This matchup will pit two great teams with strong traditions. Both PSU and USC have great offenses and strong defenses, so this should be a great game to watch. I give the edge to USC because this game is essentially at home for them and they will be pumped to play in yet another Rose Bowl.

USC - 33, PSU - 20

Orange Bowl - Virginia Tech vs. Cincinnati

Cincinnati and Virginia Tech both come in on a roll after winning their respective conferences. Cincinnati is a very tough team but has yet to win a BCS bowl game in a very long time. VT has been here before and that experience will carry them to victory. By so doing, they will avenge their Orange Bowl loss last year to Kansas.

Virginia Tech - 20, Cincinnati - 13

Sugar Bowl - Utah vs. Alabama

Alabama is coming off a loss to Florida in the SEC National Championship Game and Utah remains undefeated. Against stronger teams, the Alabama defense has been exposed and the Utes have one of the most potent attacks in the nation. Utah has shown the ability to play in a shootout and a defensive showdown and they will adapt to play against the Crimson Tide.

Utah - 24, Alabama - 23

Fiesta Bowl - Ohio State vs. Texas

People say that the Longhorns will be upset about being snubbed for a National Championship Game bid and will come out playing their best. I would not be surprised if they spent the month leading up to the game moping about being denied the chance to play for a national title. Although this game is being played in Phoenix, the Buckeyes travel as well as anybody and will pack the stands. Plus, the Buckeyes have been playing their best football as of late rather then wilting at the end of the year as in the past. Ohio State will be looking to avenge past BCS failures and they have a strong record against Big 12 teams. When factoring in the fact that this game will be played at the University of Phoenix stadium where major 'upsets' like Oklahoma vs. Boise State have taken place, the Buckeyes will have more luck on their side come this BCS game.

Ohio State - 27, Texas - 23

BCS National Championship Game Oklahoma vs. Florida

Both of these teams have come in on a tear and will engage in a tough battle. Florida has yet to play a game against an offense as potent as Oklahoma but the OU defense has faced offensive machines like Texas and Texas Tech. SEC fans like to say that Big 12 defenses are that bad but I think Big 12 offenses are that good. This will be a home game for Florida but that advantage will not close the gap between the two teams.

Oklahoma - 41, Florida - 30

BCS Bowl Predictions

My #1 strength pick for the Bowl games is Texas over The Ohio State!  Final 41-23 Bet the RANCH and no I'm neither a Big12 or UT fan

BCS Bowl Predictions

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Texas beats Ohio State in Glendale but I think this is the BCS Bowl that Ohio State will finally show up to. What really intrigues me about this matchup is not just the two teams, but also the stadium where the game is being played. The University of Phoenix stadium has proved to be the worst nightmare for favored teams as in the case of the Boise State-Oklahoma Fiesta Bowl, Florida-Ohio State National Championship Game and the most recent Super Bowl. Combine that with the fact that Ohio State has shown drastic improvement throughout the year and I felt compelled to give the Buckeyes the upset over the Longhorns.

In the bowl games that Utah has played in, they are 10-3 and 3-0 under coach Kyle Whittingham. It is true that they have not played against a team of Alabama's caliber but I think Whittingham will have the Utes ready to play.

BCS Bowl Predictions

Not bad...

I am going to bet that Texas wins against tOSU because Texas has developed a propensity at rebounding in bowl games after losing late season games...

No doubt that it will be close (I'll give you that one) but Mack Brown has prepared his teams for post season play very well the laast 7 years. Ten years ago Texas was blown out in the FIesta Bowl against Penn State. That was really the last time that Texas got blown out and looked distracted...

I would also be surprised if Alabama lost. I have not had a chance to see Utah play this year but it would surprise me if the did pull off the upset in New Orleans with a strong Tide contingency...

BCS Bowl Predictions

Thank you for correcting that Koala - I was in the process of saying the same thing.

While OSU fans can admit that the SEC has been better the past couple years, especially in our two bowl games, it seems like some SEC fans still can't handle the fact that they are inferior to the BigXII this year.

I like your optimism about the Buckeye's chances in Glendale.  It's frustrating to know we've got a great team year after year and then see them play like children in big games; thus, until I'm proven otherwise, I would have to say 27-24, Texas over OSU.

BCS Bowl Predictions

Coming from a Big Ten homer? That definitely explains why I picked USC over Penn State.

BCS Bowl Predictions

I wouldn't be surprised if you lose every one of these predictions.

Oklahoma hasn't faced a Defense like they are about to face. Florida has. It was Alabama, who will pound Utah. Figures these game predictions are coming from a Big Ten homer. Haven't you learned what the SEC is about yet man? The Mini-NFL bro.
