Prayers

A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

Prayers

What a horrible tragedy about the rescuers who saved the little girl who broke through the ice.  I lived in Michigan as a child and remember those days that could be so deadly.  My prayers will be with the rescuers and their family and friends and for the children who witnessed all this and the little girl who went through the ordeal.

VOD 03/03/09: He Is, We Are Not

Verse:

Isaiah 55:8-9
"My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (NIV)

Thought:

No matter how we try to perceive God, He is still God and we are not. We must forever remember that the original, and still primary sin was to try to become like God in terms of knowledge and understanding. We are to know God, but we can never fully know about Him. We are to take on His character, but we cannot approach His majesty. This is both exciting and frustrating. But the promise remains that one day we will be like Him and see Him as He is.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Thank You for being so patient with us when we cannot fully understand and appreciate Your holy and transcendent character. Thank You for sending Jesus so we can know You better and trust You to know us better than we know ourselves. We look forward to seeing You face to face when Jesus comes to bring us home. Until that day, please know we love you.
We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless.
Michael

Thanks, Stu, but I have to give credit, for posting that quote on one of my VOD threads, to UF04. I will agree that it is very profound.

The latest update, from what I have heard, is that the Coast Guard found the boat and 1 of the missing men. They are still looking for the other 3 men.

Let's do remember to keep these men in our prayers along with the one's missing in Mexico. Also, whodem's sister-in-law and her kids were in an accident yesterday and are in serious condition following a night of surgery. I'll keep you updated as he lets me know.

May God Bless.

MGB,

Thank you so much for this quote! I am going to include it in my every prayer unto God from now on!

"Preach the gospel at all times, only if necessary use words."

-St. Francis of Assisi

Also, I am praying for the missing players!

VOD 03-02-09: Not There Yet

Verse:

Philippians 3:12-13   Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected (or complete); but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.  Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. (NIV)

Thought:

As believers, we must realize that we have a way to go. We have not arrived. There are still some things ahead. We still must press on. But some people have the idea they have arrived. They don’t need to grow anymore; they don’t need to study anymore; they don’t need to increase anymore. Unfortunately, that is the attitude many Christians have today about their spiritual growth. They think they have finished. Friend, you have not arrived. Set your goal to be making progress every day. That is how you will become mature in Christ.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Help us to know that we have not yet reached the place where You would wish us to be. Send the Holy Spirit to guide us down the path of knowledge and understanding. Let us strive each day to learn and practice Your word so that we may be shining examples of You.
We ask these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless.
Michael

VOD 03/01/09: Our Hope, Strength, and Future

Verse:

Psalm 73:25-26
Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (NIV)

Thought:

What can truly fulfill and sustain us? Maybe the best way to answer that question is by asking another: What can we keep when our bodies are placed silently in their graves at death? Only our relationship with God and His people last beyond the grave. If He is what lasts, then how can we displace Him for anything that doesn't?

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
Strength of Israel, Keeper of the Covenant and Fulfillment Maker of every prophecy: You are our hope, our strength, and our future. We live this day in wide-open amazement that the Keeper of the Universe knows our name, hears our voice, and cares for us. Thank You for being our past, our present, and our future, the Great I Am.
We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless.

Prayers

Sis, Joe is in my prayers.  My back bothers me, but as you already know, some pain you just learn to deal with.  God has blessed me with a high pain tolerance, I have a torn labrum in both shoulders, both knees need replaced and degenerative arthritis in my lower spine and I very rarely have to take any pain medicine.  We are still waiting to hear on the building, maybe God thinks I still need a little work in being patient so I will wait on His timing.  Sis you are in my prayers and I hope everything is well with you.  I am praying for all prayer requests, posters and readers on this thread.

God bless

Jack
