Prayers

A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

VOD 02/28/09: Might Makes Right

Verse:

2 Timothy 1:7
God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. (NIV)

Thought:

Power! We like that concept. When it is godly power, might does make right, because godly power is accompanied by love and self-discipline. These three together make a person's life effective. Live life to its fullest: not as a closet Christian, afraid of standing true and firm, but one who lives by God's power, shares God's love, and displays God's virtues.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,
You are without comparison in Your majesty and might. We have no right to come into Your presence, and yet You have invited us here by Your love and Your grace. You are our Rock, our Fortress, and our Strength. We depend upon Your guidance and Your mercy to sustain us through our storms and to reclaim us from our stumbles. Holy God, You are without comparison and we worship you.
We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless.
Michael

Prayers

I want to ask for prayers for my friend Joe.  He is facing another surgery (this will be well over 30 surgeries in the last two years).  In March he will need surgery to improve the function of his spleen since he had to have a kidney removed and the spleen has to function better to make up for having one kidney.  Please keep him in prayer.  Thanks!

Thanks, Sissy...

This is something UF04 posted on my College Football board VOD thread. It's very appropriate:

"Preach the gospel at all times, only if necessary use words."

-St. Francis of Assisi

Yes, our actions speak more volumes than our words.

Prayers

Michael, thank you for the excellent post today!  I just finished listening to an audio of a Ravi Zacharias lecture on Christian apologetics in the 21st century, documenting the progression of popular philosophies up to today's thinking.  One point is that we have abandoned words for images and the impact that has had upon thinking and morals and conduct.  His conclusion is that we witness best when we show through our behavior that what we believe results in changed lives.  It was right on point, sad but true.  Here is a link where you can listen to many 1 hour lectures and debates:

Many people often quote, "The truth will set you free."  Very few know the full quote and context:  "If you abide in My word, you are my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32 (emphasis added)

Words are important, language is important, but in today's worldview, where the meaning of words (like what does "is" mean from Bill Clinton) is treated as fluid and not absolute, our words must match our outward behavior, both in public and in private, and our integrity and consistency is critical.  Frequently, today's gospel must be observed in us as we attempt to speak the good news.

God bless all who come here peacefully and all prayers continue to be lifted daily,

Sissy

VOD 09/27/09: Talk Is Cheap

VERSE:

1 John 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. (NIV)

THOUGHT:

"Talk is cheap!" "You can tell me with your words, but I'll show it with my life." "Put your life where your mouth is." We know the slogans, now let's live love in truth. In a world where barter has replaced sacrificial and steadfast love, let's go against the grain and do the truth!

PRAYER:

Our Heavenly Father,
We confess to You that at times we are selfish. Other times our intentions are good, but our follow- through and faithfulness are lacking. Use Your Spirit to empower and enable us to be what we hope to become, to Your glory. May Your love be seen in our actions of genuine concern today.
We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.
May God Bless.
Michael

Prayers

Lord, we come to You with thankfulness for who You are and Your kindness to us.  We thank You for bringing healing to Gary and for opening a door for a new job for him.  We ask that You provide Your healing touch to the sister of funchef's friend Reggie as she struggles with cancer, Tiger Fan as he seeks to gain control over his elevated cholesterol, Sheri Weiss as she fights cancer, Coach Finberg as he fights pancreatic cancer, and the other health needs of the community, expressed and unexpressed.  Give comfort and endurance and strength for all who struggle with illness and make Your presence known to each.  Give wisdom and compassion and guidance to the health care workers.  We ask that You provide guidance and wisdom to AB4C and others who are working through financial difficulties and for those seeking jobs in this difficult time, as well as to those giving counsel to these in need.  Speak Your peace to them as they work through these trials, knowing they can rely on You to provide for their needs.  Open the hearts of those who have not yet come to know You, especially Cessna's father and all those who seek with honest hearts, for You have promised that You will be found if we seek You with all our hearts and that Your word will not return void but will accomplish what it was sent out to do.  Provide Your clear pathway in decisions we struggle with, especially for Lucky7z and his family.  Keep in safety those who are in dangerous situations, as is Gabriel and his friends in Mexico.  Bless and keep our troops and move in the hearts and minds of those who govern us that their decisions may be sound and may honor You.  Forgive us when we are turned aside and lead us back to You in spirit and truth.  Comfort those who grieve and be our spring in the desert times.  We thank You for the blessings You have given to us freely and we give You all the glory and honor and praise.  We pray for these needs, expressed and unexpressed, in Jesus' name, Amen

Heavenly Father, I lift up these prayers in agreement with Sissy and also ask that You bless and heal Sis.  I ask that Your will be done and pray in Jesus' name.  Amen

God bless

Jack
