Prayers

Posted on: February 17, 2009 3:11 am

A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

Prayers

More prayers needed within the sports community tonight.

Please prayer for the recovery of Ben Wallace of the Cavs who apparently broke his leg during tonight's game, and pray for comfort for the friends and family of the late Norm Van Lier who played for the Bulls years ago and passed away today and the family and friends of Larry Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz, who passed away.

Prayers

Thanks, Stu and Michael.

1 Peter 3:15-16
"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed." (emphasis added)

If we are asked about our hope in God, we must know what we believe and why.  We do not owe an explanation to those whose purpose is to mock or defame or to insult our Lord and Savior.  We are to answer in meekness, and we are not to be surprised if we are reviled for our answers or good conduct.  Shame is apportioned by God to those who revile good conduct in Christ.  Let us not give a foothold to the evil done by those whose hearts are hardened, but let us withdraw and pray, as scripture teaches.  "As much as depends on you, be at peace with all people" as we are taught in Romans.  Not all interactions will depend upon only us; we can speak the truth in love and still not receive a peaceful response.  We, too, were once hard hearted, but we were not saved by intellectual assertions.  Faith is a gift of God, and salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit.  In the end times, knowledge will increase, but the love of many will grow cold, and man will not endure sound teaching.  We must not become 'leukwarm' in our devotion to God by tolerating evil.  None of us should be surprised or duped by this.

God bless all who come in peace and may we be encouragers to all who are sincere.

Prayers

Hey Sissy...

Amen to that.

I left a message on your other blog you posted on. It's a shame the trolls have tried to take over the 'Prayers' thread. If everyone will just stop feeding them, they will starve and go to more fertile hunting grounds.

Keep up your good works. They are a blessing to myself and others.

May God Bless.

Prayers

Psalm 20:7
"Some trust in chariots, and some is horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."

The simple faith of a single man or woman is a mighty thing. Trust in the Lord, and you will marvel at all that can be done.

Prayer:

Father, make me faithful, Lord, and keep me from putting my faith in other things or people. Those things will pass away, but I know that You will endure forever. Thanks be to Your love and grace. Amen.

Prayers

Do we not have to consider the weaker brother or sister who comes to share personal problems and ask for prayer and encouragement in a place that was designed for peace?

That was always the point of the "Prayers" Thread Terry! You are absolutely correct! I cannot countenance the calling of someone who mocks my face as "Brother"!

VOD 02/26/09: We Are Adopted

Verse:

1 John 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. (NIV)

Thought:

Love is a verb. We can't say it enough. Love must not only be spoken, but must also be shown. The beginning of love is God. He showed His love in the most sacrificial of ways so we could know our incredible value to Him. The price of our adoption was the emptying of heaven of its greatest treasure, God the Son, who is our Savior.

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Thank You for adopting us into Your family. We can never thank You enough or ever repay You for your kindness, but please receive the service of our lives today as thanksgiving for Your grace and our small way of trying to share the love You have given us.

We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and yours for a safe a blessed day.

May God Bless.

Michael

Prayers

Hey Stu and MB,

We have serious battles in our country and our world and support through prayer and through action is so necessary now more than ever.  Please continue to pray for attorney Jay Sekulow and the ACLJ.

MB, my kitten in sneakers wasn't accepted so I brought out my Olympic cat (courtesy PhantomII--thanks!).  Although I thought I  looked good in black!

Please say a prayer for Marquette senior basketball player Dominique James, who had been having a tremendous year, and fractured a bone in his foot 4 minutes into tonight's big game against UConn.  Not only is he done for tonight, his season may be over.  I hate to see that happen to a senior on a team that will be Tournament eligible.

All requests continue to be in my prayers.  I will not be on the Prayer thread since it has once again become a place of discord which always leads to deletion.  I will read and update my prayer journal for the requests there, but as my own health is in decline, I will no longer stay up all night restoring threads if insults to our Lord will be tolerated.  All the other originators have long left; I will maintain this blog only.  Do we not have to consider the weaker brother or sister who comes to share personal problems and ask for prayer and encouragement in a place that was designed for peace?  Doesn't ministering to the saints hold a higher place than indulging mockery?  It's not like there is an honest discussion of ideas happening with open minded people; there are other places for debate and ONE place people knew to come for peace.  I am greatly saddened and will not return there.  We have lost more members recently because this mockery has been tolerated and I miss my friends who have been driven away.

All who seek encouragement and peace are welcome here in the name of Jesus without question or debate, we will offer positive support and not ask anything of requestors except respect.  "They will know you are my followers if you love one another."  Let peace reign in our hearts and minds.

God bless you all,

Sissy

Prayers

Sissy...

It's good to see the fruits of your prayers. This pleases me to no end. Thank you for sharing it with us.

It appears your other avatar has been restored. Could CBS be having a change of heart?

Prayers

Blessed Wednesday everyone!

Terry, I am glad that the cat in the "Team USA" jersey was not deemed offensive!

Craig will be in my prayers from now on! My Step Father died from pancreatic Cancer and I still miss him all the time. He taught me how to do nature photography and that is something I still love to do today!
