A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

My brother Mark,

Thanks! You bring tears to my eyes because I know that you know. It is a tough road, and I am beaten down a bit right now. I know we will come out the other side. I know we are not be punished for our sinful spending habits of old as we have repented. I have learned a lot from this lesson as was intended by the Lord. We are not promised a rosy life, but we are promised we are not in it alone. Thanks for your prayers. I also pray for you.

Thanks for your prayers Sissy also, Thank you!

Thank you everyone!

Good to see the thread thriving, and welcome to all the new faces.

I ride with a local chapter of CMA (not the music people but the Christian motorcycle Association).  Today our prez emailed everyone concerning A Lot of health issues (nearly every part of his body)  He has to resign.  Please pray for Herb.  I know there are different opinions regarding healing, but God does heal when He wants to!  So I'm asking for lots of warriors to join me.  Thanks

secondly and more about my heath I have a very week back becuase of my chest being slightly deformed it caves in so it affects my back and my back mussles are week im going to phisical theorpy for it but I have alot of stregthening to do and im not always 100% commited to stregthining my back mussles so I need prayers that this PT does the job it needs to do and prevent any futher problems long down the road

Thridly and lastly i am helping put on an confrence comming up in a meer two weeks kinda of scary to think about it. But I have a very large role in this conference and my role can determin the sucess and how people are changed on this weekend, but I have a felling if I put it in gods hands everything will work out nicely but we still have some planning to go and rehersing the event itself just pray everything works out nicely and the people attending the confernce grow closer to god and some people who may have not found them yet discover him on this weekend.

Thats it thanks in advance for the prayers

Aboy -

We love you - You are in Gods hands..even now. The pressure you feel is about to be lifted  - You are a child of his and only he can allow your circumstances - The test is difficult, but not unpassable -

Lord I pray your peace over Tony, and his family. Your plan is often laced w/ trips through the desert and places that seem like death, however we all know that you have overcome all things. Give Tony peace. Give him strength. Give him humility. Give him wisdom. Lord this man loves you and seeks after your heart. Grant him a double portion of yourself..... even now. Thank you Lord. We love you.........

Tony, you know that you have brothers and sisters here - We share this burden w/ you - Our hearts are yours - Love you brother

Very nice Michael.  With the looming economic collapse, I think we can be easilly distracted and shift our focus into survival mode and do everything we can to protect our jobs and lively hood.  It can be hard to do sometimes, but keeping our eyes and focus on God will ensure we are right where we should be.

On a Side note, this is kinda newbie, but how do I earmark this blog so it does not get lost in the shuffle.  Right now I am relying on my profile threads.

God Bless and have a great day!

VOD 02/18/09: Overworking is Overrated

Proverbs 23:4   Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease! (NKJV)

First, notice that this verse does not say don’t work and it does not say don’t work hard. It says don’t overwork. There are some people in God’s family who are not led, they are driven. They are so focused on reaching their goals and achieving whatever level of success they are going after, that they are making a lot of sacrifices along the way. They are sacrificing their marriage and they are sacrificing their relationship with their kids. Why? Because they overwork. And that is not healthy. Overworking is as unhealthy as not working. You miss out on the grand things in life, the important things in life. With some people, even their relationship with God gets squeezed out because they overwork. You need to be motivated; you need to work hard; but you don’t want to overdo it to the point that you don’t have time for your children, your spouse, or your God. You are missing life if you are just after possessions, and you are sacrificing the more important things along the way. How does your work life measure up today?  Are you overworking at the expense of your marriage, your family, and your relationship with God? If so, determine today to get your life back in balance.

Our Heavenly Father,
Thank You for today and all of Your blessings. Guide us throughout our day and keep us balanced in our daily activities. Help us remember our priorities in life; the work we must do, the time we need to spend with our families, and the time we need to spend with You.
We ask these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Hey fightingamish, good to see you and thanks for sharing the account of your Pastor Jim Brown and of Christianity at work.  Athletes who walk their talk either don't get reported enough if at all or get mocked for their faith.  Thank you for sharing the account of Je'Rod Cherry's actions and the giving of those youth who gave from what little they had (seems there is an account of a widow in the Bible giving from what little she had as well!).  God bless your pastor and those wonderful people, and God bless you as well!  I'll try to find coverage of Je'Rod Cherry and put it in my Athletes' Positive Contributions blog.
