A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

First of all I too lift up our country in prayer.  While I did not support President Obama, I now pray that God will guide him and that he will be open to what God would have him do.

For those who have not read it, I just finished "The Shack".  I highly recommend the book and that you read it with an open mind and heart.  What a refreshing approach to our faith!

May God bless you all

I've got a fantastic pastor named Jim Brown from Goshen Indiana. He was speaking at a national church youth conference challenging them to think global.  A group of about 3000 students was there ready to be challenged. A ministry called Asia's Hope was there to talk about the large number of kids stranded by war and poverty. Those kids, just teenagers, gave nearly $100,000 to save those children. Many gave the last dollars they brought to the conference. Also in the crowd was former New England Patriot defensive back Je'Rod Cherry. Cherry was also moved to action. Je'rod gave one of his super bowl rings to be auctioned and donated to help build God's kingdon in Cambodia and Thailand.  Awesome. These kids saw a man give a prize posession and lay it at the feet of God to be used as he wished. Three of my own kids were there.  They arrived home penniless but energized. Somehow that didn't make ESPN's plays of the Day, but it was. Praise God!

I learned today that Santonio Holmes of the Steelers has a 6 year old son, Santonio III, who has Sickle Cell Disease.  Santonio has auctioned off the gloves he wore during the Superbowl and will donate the money to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.  Carlos Boozer of the Utah Jazz also has a son, Carmani, with this disease.  Carmani is undergoing an experimental treatment using amniotic stem cells obtained from his mom while she was carrying Carmani's twin brother and sister.  If this treatment is successful, it may open the way for a cure for this disease.  Carlos is working on setting up a charity so that the treatment will be available to people who could not afford the expenses he and his family have incurred.  The charity will be called Boozer's Buddies.  Please keep Santonio III and Carmani and their families in prayer as well as praying for a successful treatment and the charity to pay for treatment for other children.  A person's bank balance does not stop them from feeling the pain a parent feels when a young child is sick with something untreatable, but thank God for two athletes who put their money into not only helping their families but offering hope for treatment for others.

Lord, we lift our brother Tony and his family and ask that You make Your will known to him.  Guide his decisions that You would see him through this financial hardship.  Grant him discernment and give Your comfort and peace to him and his family.  Lord, we know Your promise to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose.  Please speak Your peace to this family as You order their steps through a difficult challenge.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen

Jack, good to see you and thanks for your post--right on point as always!

Galations 6:9-10
"Let’s not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest—if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have the opportunity, let’s practice doing good to everyone, especially to the family of faith."

It is good to see everyone making it over here from the other thread,  Stu, you are right, it is just a sign of the times (end times).  Take heart as the early church was scattered all over the place it grew and other churches started from those that scattered so maybe as this thread is scattered it will grow.  Persecution from the world is to be expected so praise God that it appears that Christians will be persecuted on the CBS boards.

All prayer requests, posters and readers are being lifted up in prayer daily.

May God bless

Stu, so good to see you!  I feel much better with my military friends around!  God bless you.  Prayers continue for Ken and Lisa.

I will eventually reconstruct the prayer requests we lost.  I think I have them all in my journal.

God bless you all!

Phantom looks for, finds, and takes a seat on the back bench. Arms crossed and a glare in his eyes.

Taking his seat on the "Back Bench" c-blue looks around and is heartened to see how many of his friends made it here.

I agree wholeheartedly with my Brother in Arms (And especially prayer!) PII! This is absurd! They can freely post "Sexiest Avatar" threads but "Prayers" is a threat?

Is this just another sign that the end is near? (hopefully!)

I am here for the duration!
