Prayers

A place to encourage members of the CBS Community who come here voluntarily to share positive messages, lift up injured athletes and other important persons in our lives, honor those athletes and individuals who express their faith, and provide support to Community members who seek it in time of need.  Isn't that what a Community does?

This is not a place of debate.  It is a place for positive interaction and assistance to Community members who want to talk sports without obscenities and share hope for our personal growth.

Prayers

I have a testimony for you.

Yesterday morning I was feeling a bit under the weather. I posted the VOD and then checked my emails. I got one from Sissy and, in my reply, I made reference to Ezekiel 38:7, which speaks of being 'prepared'. I then proceeded to crawl back into bed. At 9:05 I got a call from Gerald, our Pastor, saying that he needed my help. Robert, our A/Pastor and teacher of the adult Sunday School, was down with back problems and he needed me to teach at 10:00. I couldn't say no, as the Lord was calling on me, so I crawled back out of bed to my computer. Here I was, having just made reference to Sissy about being prepared, and I didn't have the slightest idea of what I was going to teach. I sat there looking at the screen and said "Father, what am I to do?". Immediately it came to mind that I save all of the VODs; so why not print them all out and use them for the lesson? So that is just what I did and the class went very smooth. The good Lord even lifted my spirits so that I wasn't hanging off the podium as I taught. I can guarantee that from now on I'll be prepared and have a lesson ready in case I'm called upon again. Another lesson learned is that you never know when God is going to call on you. It may be inconvenient for you, but it's not for Him. Whatever He puts you through, He will help you through.

God is Good!

May God Bless,

Michael

Prayers

Good morning to all.

For better convenience and control of content, I have centralized the VOD to a blog site entitled 'Verse of the Day'. If you have any problems reaching this site for the first time, PM me and I will give you instructions on how to navigate to it.

I pray you and yours have a safe and blessed day.

May God Bless.

Michael

VOD 03/12/09: Before There Was Time

Verse:

2 Timothy 1:9 God has saved us and called us to a holy life -- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time. (NIV)

Thought:

Before the beginning of time. How do you understand when that was? God first thought of us at a time we cannot even begin to understand. His reason for thinking of us was to demonstrate His grace and call others to His side. Jesus has always been God's plan, and we have always been His goal. Let's make sure we respond by living that holy life!

Prayer:

Our Heavenly Father,

Thank You for this day and all of Your blessings. Thank You so much, Father, for knowing us and thinking of our needs, even before there was a world. We dedicate this day to Your honor and pledge to live a life that reflects Your righteousness and grace.

We pray these things in the name of Your most Holy Son, Jesus the Christ…Amen.

Good morning to all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours for a safe and blessed day.

May God Bless.

Michael

Prayers

Hey guys, I'll try to be around as much as I can!

Jack, congrats to your Mounties player Alex Ruoff!  Scholar Athlete of the Year in Big East, Sportsmanship Award Big East--this kid deserves it.  My heart broke for him on senior night when he went scoreless, but tonight in the BE tourney he just hit a three ball that breaks Kevin Pittsnogle's scoring record so he's now WVU's leading three point shooter.  Coach Huggy Bear did a lot to console him after their last home game from what I hear.  I wish this young man well.

MB, how do you think your Tide will role through the SEC Tourney?  Gonna Dance?

I will keep this blog going in case the Prayers thread or even the Off Topics threads get deleted so I don't have to keep starting over!  I'm getting too old for this! hehehe

Hey Jack...I guess now that the 'Prayers' thread is up and running again everybody is going over there. I'll still keep posting the VOD here just in case, though.

Well, would you lookie here. Sissy's back. So glad to see you're doing better. We were getting a little concerned there for a while. You just take care of yourself and we'll keep you in our prayers.

Prayers

Sis, I don't have any problem pulling for your Wildcats, except against my mounties, but as a West Virginia boy and WVU fan I can't think of any reason that could make me pull for Pitt.  Good to see you back, it is not the same without you.  You are in my prayers and I am expecting God to heal you at anytime.

Prayers

2 Corinthians 4:17-18
"For momentary light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."

I was reading the above verse a while back and the picture of a waterfall came to mind. I was seeing the turbulence right before the water plunges over the edge of the fall, the dangerous rocks jutting out, even imagining the fear involved when one might plunge over that water fall to the depths below. Yet, innately, in the power and might of the waterfall, is beauty.

Sometimes, I picture my life as a river headed for those falls. There are peaceful times, when the water flows quietly, calmly. There are times of white rapids, when I wonder if I can navigate them successfully. Yet, God always sees me through.

I am beginning to see how God is using the conditions that challenge me – much like the turbulence and the rocks the river must surmount before it plunges exhilaratingly over the edge of the falls in wonder and glory. Our current afflictions are indeed temporary – and one day we will take that final fall, into His arms. What glory there will be for those of us who love Him!

Father God, thank You for Your might and glory. Thank You that You know exactly where we are in this life and that You will one day bring glory from our turbulent days. Amen.

Prayers

It is good to see everyone faithfully continuing in prayer.  OGR, you have no idea how glad I am to see you.  I hope you get the chance to come back more often--that back bench is just not the same and CBlue needs some company!!

I appreciate the VOD, Michael, and hope your weekend trip was a good one.  Jack, thanks for keeping the place active as well.  Keeping an eye on your Mounties as well!!  I wish them well (until they get to my Wildcats or Panthers! lol then may the best team win!!).  May the Mounties and the Crimson Tide go dancing!!

I have a heart monitor now and have to track my blood pressure and resting pulse and whatever is happening with me, nothing has brought down my resting pulse.  I see my pulse at 116 and BP dropping over the last week or so but no other indications of internal bleeding or other illness that can be addressed yet.  It was almost a year ago that I had the emergency incident with undiagnosed bleeding ulcers and the ruptured blood vessel that led to last year's emergency surgery.  I just pray I'm not heading back down that ugly path again!  So I've been ordered to bed rest and monitoring.  The Lord is faithful no matter what happens and He's brought me through worse before so please excuse my absences, but know you are in my prayers whether I can get up and post or not!

Father, I lift all the requests, spoken and unspoken, of those who read or post here, and I humbly ask that You touch each life as only You can with healing, with financial and employment relief, with deliverance from stress and temptation, with peace in the midst of our storms, with comfort in the midst of grief, with discernment in our life choices and strength to carry out what we must do, with unity within families and fellowships, with courage to depart from situations that are not part of the path You have planned for us, and with thankfulness in our hearts for what You have done and will do in each of our lives and in our nation.  I pray a hedge of protection around each who comes here and that each would be fully clothed in Your armor to stand against the attacks that will surely come into each life.  Each morning Your mercies are new, O Lord, and we thank you as we grow in trust and faith within all circumstances.  I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen

Prayers

"He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, 'My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.'" Matthew 26:39

God has a plan for each of our lives--a good plan. He wants us to trust in him and his love and to lean into his plans for us.

As we make our plans and set our goals day to day, year to year, we need to submit our plans and our desires to him. We need to come to the point where we can follow Jesus' example and honestly say, "I want your will to be done, not mine."

Sometimes God's plan is different from ours. But it is always better. He has the "big picture." He knows how all things will work together for the ultimate good.

God loves you unconditionally. Are you willing to return his love by saying, "Father, I want your will to be done, not mine."

Prayer

Father, help me not to ever let selfishness or arrogance keep me from submitting to your plan for my life. I know you love me and want what is best for my loved ones and me. Help me give my desires to you and trust you completely. In Jesus' name, Amen
