Notice the ball handling stats for Spain:  8 steals and forcing 18 turnovers to committing only 8 themselves.  Spain’s shooting percentage was only average, but their rebounding was dominant.  Chris Kamen for Germany got 2 of the only 4 offensive rebounds in the game.  The half time score was Germany 36, Spain 39.  Shooting percentage dropped drastically for Germany in the second half.

Referees: Fabio FACCHINI (ITA), Scott BUTLER (AUS), Heros AVANESSIAN (IRI)
Commissioner: Valdu SUURKASK (EST)

This referee crew called more offensive fouls than I’ve seen in any game.  They also called technical and unsportsmanlike fouls against Germany, which is becoming a pattern for this team, especially for Dirk Nowitzki.

top scorer for GERMANY is Steffen Hamann (27 minutes played) with 15 points
top scorer for SPAIN is Jose Manuel Calderon (22 minutes played) with 15 points
top rebounder for GERMANY is Christopher Kaman (23 minutes played) with 10 rebounds
top rebounder for SPAIN is Marc Gasol (20 minutes played) with 8 rebounds
leader in assists for GERMANY is Steffen Hamann (27 minutes played) with 3 assists
leader in assists for SPAIN are Ricky Rubio (13 minutes played) , Pau Gasol (25 minutes played) with 3 assists each

Is anyone besides me concerned that Team USA currently leads in scoring, but they are the WORST in 3 point % and third worst in free throws?  The three-point line is closer than the NBA line and we're shooting 26.7% from outside?  Check out Croatia's 3 point shooting percentage!  Hmmm . . .
