Greatest RB in Colt's Franchise History

Posted on: July 21, 2008 2:24 pm

alright friends, the votes stand as follows:  Duane Bickett - 3, Jeff Herrod - 3, Mike Curtis - 2, Don Shinnick, Ted Hendricks, Ray May, Quentin Coryatt.  i kind of like this, it means i don't have to do any tie breaking.

therefore, the winners are Duane Bickett, Jeff Herrod, and Mike Curtis.

as we wind this down, this week, we will focus on the second to last position, RB.  over the years, the colts have had many great RB, including HOFers Lenny Moore and Eric Dickerson, as well as future HOFer Marshall Faulk and potentially future HOF edgerrin james.  despite the fact that we have 4 very worthy RB's, the voting will work the same.  choose 1 RB and vote for him.  the highest total wins.  remember, only count the time a RB spent with the colts.  this means you should ignore faulk's great years with the Rams as well as james's not so great years with the Cardinals.

as always, happy voting!

RULES: The way it works is that every Monday, we will vote for the Greatest Colts player at a certain position. The following Monday, I will tally the votes and mark the winner(s) on the below list. In the event of a tie, I will break it using my own humble opinion, because this is my blog and I make the rules haha. Rate players based only on their time with the Colts. For instance, when voting for RB, ignore Marshall Faulk's years in St. Louis, or Edgerrin James's time in Arizona. Feel free/encouraged to look all the way back to the Baltimore Colts. Debate is also encouraged, and if you are changing you vote later in the week, be sure to note this.

Greatest RB in Colt's Franchise History

Well, since I vote for Indy Colts only, it really only comes down to Dickerson, Faulk, and Edge.  Based on the numbers, and the seasons each of these guys played, I have to go with Edge.  Not only does he have the numbers, he was apart of some of the greatest seasons we had ever seen in Indy up to that particular time.  So...

RB - Edgerrin James

I've got to go with Edgerrin James. Man he was unstoppable most of the time.

Cirknick, if the voting was closer between the "frontrunners", I'd have to go with the HOFer. But since its not, and my vote won't influence the outcome, I'd like to mention two of my sentimental favorites: Lydell Mitchell and Joe Washington, with Mitchell winning by...."an Edge".

well like ive said many times before i can only vote on those i've seen and that means edge vs faulk. faulk did most of his best work as a ram and edge was a great player for the colts, but more importantly he never ONCE complained about his contract near the end. he always showed up to work and did his job. that to me is one of the most important things that edgerrin ever did. if i had a vote i'd vote him to the nfl HOF for sure.

I have to go with the Edge. As a colt he was unstopable. And as SoDAk said before he owns 4 of 5 of the colts best rushing seasons. And that was against bigger tougher defencemen then lenny moore who is his only compatition.
