Yankees close in on Teixeira deal

Amen brother!  I said that last week that the Red Sox would not significantly improve their roster by signing Teixeira and for the money that he was looking for I'd rather get a middle reliver or catcher.

I'm a Red Sox fan as well and they already have Youk & Big Papi.  If Lowell can stay healthy I like their line-up and don't know what spending $22 million would have improved?  Teixeira is good but not that good.  He certainly didn't help the Angels get over the Red Sox last year.

Yankees are absolutely ridiculous and I'm still more worried about the D-Rays and their young impressive pitching staff than I am about the aging overpaid Yankees.  Sabathia is a quality starter & Wang is above average & I like Burnett if he can stay healthy but that's a big if.  I'll take the Red Sox pitchers over the Yankees as of today.

Yankees have a great offensive team on paper but they did last year as well and were still losing.  I'm glad that Epstein didn't panic and get saddled w/ that huge contract.

Hey Hoosier Daddy... If no one told you, Giambi is no longer a Yankee. Plus the Yankee just cleared $88 million dollars off of their payroll and even with all these signings including Teixiera, the Yankees will be under last year's payroll. Nowhere near $300 million and under $200 million. Please stop the whining. How many of the Red Sox championship team players are homegrown? Please, somebody, anybody tell me... What percentage is homegrown? And you can scratch Beckett, Ortiz, Manny, Lowell, Drew, Lugo, Okajima, Dice-K, or Lopez... And I'll give you Wakefield on longevity although he didn't start their either. But the Sox have done a great job with Pedroia, Lester, Bucholz, and Delcarmen... Lowrie looks good too. But please stop. They Sox, Yankees, and others have paid hefty sums to FAs.

And at the end of the day, The Sox, Angels, Nationals, and I believe Orioles all have similar deals on the table. The Yankees patiently waited and said well, The Sox are in our division, and we always struggle against the Angels, if they don't want him, we'll take him. But he still had to choose the Yankees, even with reports saying that the Nationals offered closer to $200 million.

Again, stop whining...
