After getting Victor Martinez from the Indians, the Red Sox turned around and traded Adam LaRoche to the Braves, CBSSports.com has confirmed.

The Braves will send Casey Kotchman to the Red Sox, a source told CBSSports.com.

The Red Sox acquired LaRoche from the Pirates earlier this month.

Sox win, Sox win!

There is no question that the Red Sox won in this deal.  Everyone keeps speaking of an even swap, when this couldn't be further from it.  Kotchman was once one of the biggest propects in the game, and he has done little to change that; he is hitting for a great average, but behind in power development.  You can still alter the Casey Kotchman recipe to make him into a very good player.  LaRoche on the other hand is a at best 250/350/400, and doesn't fit into a 'Jamesian' system very well.

LaRoche hit his ceiling, Kotchman has not.  This trade was a no brainer.

Thanks BigDogDad, I must have heard the same thing watching the game tonight. I just remember how terrible Adam was against lefties. But I love Prado, and I hope he continues to start. It might also help to have Infante back, he was playing good when he got hurt.
