Giants No. 10? Don't blame me

Before any of you Giants fans write to me again, you should know that I had nothing to do with naming the Giants winning the World Series as the 10th biggest sports story of the year.

Of course not. If it was my choice, the Giants wouldn't have made the list at all.

Just kidding.

No, I'd have put the Giants higher on the list, if only to avoid overtaxing my e-mail box with more nasty comments from Giants fans.

They already hate me because I didn't pick the Giants to beat the Rangers. Believe me, they haven't forgotten.

Just look.

From Gregg:

"I can't believe CBS pays you. 'Rangers in 5.' Remember that? Evan Brunell is much better at breaking down baseball. You and Daniel Snyder think alike. I will not be reading CBS anymore, until they can present some first-class baseball columnist."

But then you'll miss everything Evan has to say. And he won't like that. Me, I'll do without you.

From Lamb:

"Not only are you ugly, but your East Coast bias makes you idiotic as well. The media just can't handle that the Giants won the World Series. Get over it and face the facts. The Giants beat the Phillies, and they are the best team until they get knocked out of the playoffs in 2011."

See, you're already admitting they're not going to win it all again.

From Leftcoastlove:

"If the Phillies were the best team at the end of 2010, they would be holding the trophy. Let's look back at the reason they lost to the Giants. It wasn't their pitching. Good luck with that pitching, Philly. It looks good on paper, then again [Ryan] Howard looks good on paper, too, until a runner is in scoring position. Then whiff!!"

Are you telling me the Giants won the World Series? Are you sure?

From Brad:

"This is bogus. Who cares about Cliff Lee? The Giants pounded him twice in the World Series. He was responsible for two wins for us. Also, we beat Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt. East Coast haters. Lincecum is better than Halladay. Cain is better than Lee. Sanchez is better than Hamels. Bumgardner [he spelled it that way, not me] is better than Oswalt."

Really, the Giants won?

From Geoff:

"You can say anything you want about the Phillies. The only reason they look so good is they play in the NL. If either the Red Sox or the Yankees were to trade places with the Phillies, they'd be the team with the clear path to the World Series. The Red Sox are considerably better than the Phillies and the Yankees may also be better."

Maybe the Giants didn't win the World Series. Either that, or maybe Geoff is about to get a ton of e-mails from Giants fans.

From Mark:

"Phils the best? Looks like you're blind-sided by their pitching staff. Did you compare their lineup to the Red Sox? Sox 4, Phils 2 in the World Series this year."

What, did Mark forget about the Giants, too? Good, now I don't feel so bad.

Oh, and Giants fans, Happy Holidays to all of you.

And this time, I mean it.

Actually we hate you because

You picked the Giants to lose to the Braves.

Then you picked the Giants to lose to the Phillies.

And THEN you picked the Giants to lose to the Rangers in 5.

It's a cumulative humiliation thing.

The final insult on injury is that in the immediate aftermath of the WS victory, more people (including you Mr Knobgobbler) were concerned with whether Cliff Lee was going to stay with Texas than the fact that the freakin Giants pulled off perhaps the biggest upset in all of sports history with their improbably WS run.

And THAT is why Giants fans hate you. And will continue to hate you. Forever. If, once CBS figures out what a know-nothing hack you are, you ever consider a job in the SF Bay Area, here's a tip: don't. We don't want you. We'll actively campaign against you.

Giants No. 10? Don't blame me

The Hob Knobler strikes again with another pointless article. What I don't like about this article is why it was written. I live in the Bay Area and am an A's fan, but even I know that the world does not revolve around the Bay Area and California. Although I cannot stand the Giants I would have rated them higher because they defeated three top teams to win the World Series...the Braves, Phillies and Rangers. Now rating them at only the tenth spot indicates that the Braves, Phillies, and Rangers were never as good as everyone had said they were...which every fan but fans of those 3 teams already knew. However, I must say that Knobler's articles are always make me laugh. In this article he makes fun of readers' comments and their misspellings but everyone here knows that cbs writers don't use spellcheck nor proofread their work before posting online. I can forgive people who are not paid to write for making mistakes, but one would think that if a cbs writer didn't get the facts correct that he would at least use spellcheck to check for misspellings. But I suppose that is too tough a task to do.

psubeerman21 is obviously a jagofff!
Apparently the Phils can't hit dogshit. That's a fact! It's in the books; and in my DVD player right now!
Your pitching staff hasn't (and won't) do a damn thing in your crackerjack hole of a "ballpark."
Oh, another pop fly homer for the visitors!
Suck it up scumbag!

Yeah, don't worry about the Phillies.  They only have the best pitching staff in history.  No reason to concern yourself with them.  It should be of no concern it took the Giants to the last day of the season to make the playoffs - they had to beat out those amazing Padres to get in (and boy, those Padres were amazing!).  It's almost certain Cody Ross (or someone else you pick up to prevent those amazing Padres from getting them) or someone else you pick up mid season will come through for you (because that ALWAYS happens).  But don't worry about those Phillies, because they make your lineup and your pitching staff look like the dog shit that it is.  It's smooth sailing for those Giants.

As a Giants fan, personally I'm glad everyone picked the Rangers (including you Knobler). Having been underdogs all season and winning anyways, why would we want anything to change? Go Giants, Go Posey, and happy holidays!

Hey one guys opinion never hurt anyone. Frankly I'm happy the pressure will once again be on the Phillies, while youth and talent still favors the Giants. Go ahead pick Philly to win this year, I'd prefer it in fact. But shut up about the Phillies being the best team at the end of 2010, that's just asking for hate mail.

Giants fans are panicking too much about the Phillies. We just won the World Series we shouldn't worry about the Phillies until next year
