The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Thanks for the post Patriot. I will say the Red Wings and Sharks in the West. The Rangers and TBD in the East. There's still a lot of hockey to be played. So far so good with the Wings. Marian Hossa and Ty Conklin were very good pick ups in the off season. i wasn't sure how that would work out. I look at it now and Hossa is on fire and Conklin is undefeated. Man I love the Wings front office! Next to the great players we have they are the reason we continue to be a force in the West. Thanks again for the post.

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Jrich thanks for the post and I agree with you on another run as well as an exciting Cup run we just had.. We all know Lord Stanley is one of the toughest to repeat but if a team could do it, it would be the Detroit Red Wings. Hasek and Drake have retired. Other than that we are the same team with the addition of Conklin and Hossa. Man I need hockey again. I've already burnt up my Red Wings Stanley Cup Champions DVD. I've relived the playoffs again and again and again. LOL. Thanks again for the post.

Peace!

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

I think it was fantastic!! Considering that I am a Wings fan, I thought it was very exciting! Zet, Pav Cindy and Malkin made it very interesting. It couldve easily gone 7 games but at no point did I feel like Detroit couldnt win. Next year, I think Detroit can repeat especially with the additions they made in the offseason. Addin Marian Hossa will make them deeper and harder for them to get lazy!

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Kegzilla thanks for the post. I agree you have to give a lot of credit to the Penguins for not closing up shop after games 1 and 2. My hat goes off to them for that huge win in game 5 at the Joe. It had me nervous as well. I think this series did help the overall NHL  picture in ratings. The NHL needed a series like this. It got to showcase their poster child in Sid the Kid but it also showed the world that the big winner was Henrick Zetterberg being able to play two way hockey like no other current player out there. He shut down Crosby as well as killed two 5-3 penalty kills. Unreal! Those two kills will stick in my mind for a long time. Again great series by both teams and thanks for the sizzle. Thanks for the post Kegger!

Red Wings 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! Man I love saying and typing that!

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Nice post Iggy! LOL. I like the comparison to food. My second favorite thing behind hockey. LOL Anyway I think the overall ratings were just fine without the game 7 that everyone but Red Wings fans wanted. I just want to say that was a result of two great teams vying for Lord Stanley. Our future in Detroit is definantly bright due to our depth and only Stuart and Chelios are in question now that Hasek announced retirement. I'm ready for October already! Drop the puck now!  Thanks for posting Iggy!

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Sizzle, not just because the Red Wings won, but game 5 was an instant classic.  The Penguins could have folded shop and gave up in game 5 but played a great game and forced a game 6 that had all red Wings fans nervous.  No Detroit fan wanted a game 7.  This was a great series to hopefully help improve the NHL's long term ratings.  This also showed that Sidney Crosby is going to be an all-time great player and that Euros can play tough hockey as well.  Maybe the biggest winner in all this is Henrik Zetterberg.  The NHL has another megastar in him, they just need to push him like they do other stars.

All in all a great series between 2 teams that might meet again in the playoffs down the road.

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

Sizzle, definitely. The series was like a great meal at a fine restaurant. Games One and Two were the appetizers. Game Three was the soup. Game Four was the salad. Game Five was the main course, and Game Six was dessert (for us Wings fans -- ).

Hopefully the bump in ratings bodes well for the future. Again, as a Wings fan, I'm happy they won The Cup in six. However, if the series had gone to a Game Seven, it would have been interesting to see, based on what Wingnut has said so far about increased ratings, what the numbers would have looked like for Game Seven.

And the future definitely looks bright for the Wings. Even missing the pieces that may be in question, they have plenty of depth and good prospects in the pipeline.

GO, RED WINGS!!

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

I agree with you Kola. The Wings got an early jump and everyone was thinking fizzle. However the Penguins made a series of it thanks to Marces Andre Fleury. He was definantly their star along with Hossa. Zetterberg pretty much eliminated Sidney Crosby from doing much and Malkin didn't even show up until game 6. That was unreal. i agree you could sense the Red Wings were destined to win. I don't remember any of our Red Wings teams of the past firing on all cylinders like this one did with defense, puck posession, and determination like our 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! Thanks for posting Kola! Thanks for the sizzle Penguins and Red Wings alike.

The Stanley Cup Finals. Sizzle or Fizzle?

I think it's great for hockey that we had the sizzle in this series wings 11. I read on here today that the ratings were way up. Post lock out scores. That's good stuff! Not to mention our beloved Red Wings are the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions! I had to laugh about your Henrick Zetterberg jersey. I also wore my Hank jersey the next day and also got some back and forth hockey talk going with co-workers and even the gas station attendant. I agree with you this finals helped adopt new members to the hockey family. I'm so ready for the puck to drop. Come on October! Thanks for the post Wings!
