The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

Now I get to show my bias. I've read the other posts, and Bear Bryant is going to win this hands down. I'm fine with that. But I'm going to preach to the choir and let you know why Tom Osborne, the beloved hall of fame coach, US Congressman and current athletic director of the University of Nebraska. Hes a well read author and speaker as well as a mentor in the realm of humanity.

Tom Osborne was born in Hastings, Nebraska and is Nebraska's favorite son. The football field bares his name as does the building in which he currently works. He won two national championships as offensive coordinator under the late Bob Devaney. His teams posted 255 wins and three national championships. I could take up this entire page giving you a biography of Tom Osborne, but instead I HIGHLY recommend you all read this mans story. Here is a link:

My vote goes for Tom Osborne, University of Nebraska

The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

Blah I wanted to say Fritz Chrisler or Fielding Yost, but the time limit kind of kills me here...

I guess I'll go with Bear Bryant, I think Pete Carroll may one day be the greatest of all time, but I don't think he's the greatest yet, he's currently writing his story, and but Coach Bryant's story has been written.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

My final Vote will be for Pete Caroll, I would like to make a homer honorable mention to Hayden Fry, not even in the top 20 all time coaches, but he turned Iowa around in the early 80's.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

Well it looks like the competition is between Pete Caroll and Bear Bryant.

I would like to place my vote for Pete Caroll. Granted he has had a lot of talent on his football teams, but he has figured out how to handle and control that talent and produce many heisman worthy players. I agree with titanhater...he probably will rewrite history as long as he doesn't bite on future NFL offers.  He's resisted temptation before, but we shall see

Again...Awesome Blog!

The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

Remember everybody that came in late, this is a selection of anyone who played ( or in this case coached) post 1970. With that stated, I will now make my selection. With a coach, I believe longevity and success should both be taken into account. So with that in mind, I must leave out current headliners such as Jim Tressel, Pete Carroll and Urban Meyer.

My vote goes to: Joe Paterno -- Penn State

The Greatest College Team Needs A Coach!

Livin I am sorry to see this great blog come to an end. Thank you for all the time and efforts you put into it.

This is not an easy choice and all the contenders have been mentioned already. To all the Pete Carroll supporters I say he has been great but I don't think his track record, as great as it has been, is long enough to give him the nod here.

My choice is Paul " Bear" Bryant
