The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

The Greatest Stadium should be Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The home of the Huskers is always filled with red on gameday and gets very loud.

Besides... Shouldn't the greatest college football team of all time only be comprised of the entire 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers team?

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Got to be Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. There is no place like Nebraska. It's a sea of red for every game. A record of consecutive sellouts. And win, lose or draw there's a standing ovation for the visitors at the end of the game. The atmosphere is amazing without being hostile. Sportsmanship is demonstrated by knowledgable fans with a fervor for their team that is not diluted by other interests. And they take this show on the road. The last time Nebraska played Notre Dame, Husker fans bought so many tickets from Notre Dame season ticket holders, the stadium was so full of red you would have thought the game was in Lincoln.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

No question, hands down, it's Nebraska's Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.  The sellout record (294 and counting I think), the home record (minus the last "rebuilding year in '07), the fans are the best and most knowledgeable in the country, etc.  It was built in 1923---the same year as Yankee Stadium and you don't see the Skers planning something new...

I'm not sure I understand what you are seeking.  I have to vote for the Cotton Bowl at the Dallas Texas State Fair with the Texas vs. Oklahoma game every October.  The tickets are split 50-50 between the two schools at the 50-yard line.  Dallas is half way between the two schools, Texas at Austin and OU at Norman.  Probably the Florida-Georgia game is a close call but this Texas-OU game has played in Dallas since 1912.  Think about that!

I guess they went in trains or covered wagons (:  as not many people had cars in 1912.

winningpitch, I know what you mean. You should go into my reviews and see the abuse I take. That's why i give it back. Quite simply. I like your analysis, the way you deduced your selection, and then making a decision. Very nice. Great choice too.

I have been to a lot of college and pro football venues. My convictions are strong. The tunnel walk on gameday in Memorial stadium is a scene to behold. Go to Huskers.com and you can witness it online! There is nothing like it.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Livin - This has been a great blog. There have been many well thought nominees and votes.

And for the record, I wasn't implying that you're a Nebraska fan or that you're tossing "1's". I was just addressing you as the "moderator" because Big Red seems to be thinking too much with their heart and not their head.

I know you don't have any control over that.

Well done, again!

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Livin - It's a sad day when fans of a school give out "1's" to those who have an opinion. I'm a big boy a legitimate "1" doesn't bother me at all.

However, most of us NEVER ding another contributing poster because of their OPINION.

Yes, I've been to Big Red country and witnessed two contests there. It's a great venue. My best friend is from Nebraska. I have nothing against you and your stadium. At least I've seen it in person. Have you been to the others (stadiums)?

Remember, there are other 75,000+ seat shrines out there. Yes -- Georgia, Florida, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Notre Dame, etc. are great places to watch a football game, IMHO.

College football is great fun. Let's not get too focused on one Uni and it's pride. IMO, CFB is much bigger than that.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Lincoln Nebraska. 294 straight sellouts. Our fans dont up and run at the sight of a losing season. When it comes down to atmosphere the SEA of RED wins. 84000 people cheering on both teams not just the home team. When a player gets injured no matter the team the fans are quite there are no cheers for the injured opposition. When he gets up the house starts rocking again cheering for the player. We dont throw foreign objects at the players or coaches. We dont fight with the visiting fan. we invite them to the party and welcome them as brothers. Sure other teams think they have that. but in all reality the only place to be is Lincoln Nebraska. Memorial Stadium.
