The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

I'm so glad I came back in here today. Reading USMC_Gator trying to compare Florida football to Nebraska football. Don't make me beat you with the idiot stick you homer.

Nebraska is the 4th winningest football program in the HISTORY of the NCAA. Look it up. Nebraska has had two losing seasons in the last 44. Look it up. How many has Florida had? You know what, we can settle this on the field. In the Swamp. But Florida DOESN'T play anyone besides cupcakes and Florida schools. Yes, Nebraska lost three home games last year, one of them to USC. Shall we talk about Florida's non-conference schedule in the last 3 decades????

OH WAIT, WE DID SETTLE IT ON THE FIELD. Nebraska 62 Florida 24     Trophy!!! One of five national championships. Nebraska's weight complex is second to none, and the program is copied all over the NCAA. Nebraska also boasts more academic all americans than #2, 3, and 4 COMBINED.

Do you really want to talk about the character of the athletes of the two schools? Want to compare rap sheets?  I hear that has happened everywhere, INCLUDING UF. Penn State has had an unusual number of off field incidents in the last year.

How many national titles do your pathetic Gators have?    BTW, did anyone tell you that Ole Miss beat you in the swamp 5 days ago? And that you lost two conference games at home last year? Some home field advantage there. Ole' Miss who struggled with Samford, lost to Wake Forest (who lost to Navy) and Vanderbilt, who might not win another game the rest of the year? Wait. let me check if Vandy is in the swamp this year...darn, guess Vandy might get one more win this year.  Did you know when you started trying to compare the swamp and Florida football to Nebraska that you could NEVER win? Somebody else must have beat you with an idiot stick. Oh wait, let me guess...USMC stands for "usually stupid maybe crazy"

Memorial stadium is currently on a streak of 295 consecutive sellouts. Florida will never reach that number. NEVER. The best part about it is its going to get longer and longer, and NO ONE will ever beat it. How many consecutive sellouts in the swamp???????

Livin Large, thanks for the forum, thanks for the great blogs. Too bad some of the posters are clueless as to what you were trying to achieve.

Oh geez you're ridiculous..... I was there at the fiesta bowl.....maybe if you guys would find some more wife beating drug dealing rapists to bail out of jail just before your big games you would win more.... (Lawrence Phillips)... You wont have any problem having more fans at Dolphin Stadium against Miami as they only manage to get about 30,000 in the stands per game.... like I said this would never happen at the Swamp and you really must be drinking your own coolaid if you think think UF is afraid to play a Nebraska team that is coming off a season with three home losses.....Our last losing season was 1979.... when was yours?  Oh last year ... History my a$$...........Thats what fans say when their team can't do it on the field.....

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

LMAO at the homer is mad. Far from it. Its just incredible the stupidity of some posters in here. Gators have no college football history; just some success when a former player and Heisman trophy winner came home and brought them a championship. BTW USMC, tell us all the number of consecutive games Florida has sold out. Nebraska will be up to 295 Saturday night. It will always sell out. I'm 46 years old, and Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska has been sold out for every game every day of my life. What was that number for Florida?

Notre Dame fans; you have reason to stand up and be heard. You've earned it. But why did you sell 35,000 tickets to Nebraska fans when we played you there in 2000?

USMC_Gator; you won't have to worry about Nebraska coming into the swamp. Florida won't play us. Miami just signed a home and home this year with Nebraska; 2014 in Lincoln, 2015 at Miami. Just like every road game the Huskers play, TENS OF THOUSANDS will travel, buy tickets, spend money, and cheer loudly. I'm old enough to remember traveling to Lawrence, KS; Manhattan, KS; Ames, IA; Columbia, MO; and the stadiums had their best attendance days of the year because the Sea of Red filled them. Would you like to see the attendance statistics for the 1996 Fiesta Bowl, where your beloved Gators played my beloved Huskers for the National Championship?

62-24 and the crystal ball; in front of a capacity crowd of HUSKER NATION. FACT.

How did your Gators do at home last year, defending their national title? And where was Ole' Miss this year? The Swamp, the history of Florida football, the history of college football cancels out the Swamp as the best stadium/atmosphere. PERIOD.

How many consecutive sellouts has the Swamp had? Compare that to Lincoln. THERE IS NO CONTEST. You are delusional, thinking the swamp is better suited than Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Nebraska fans travel better than ANY TEAM IN AMERICA.

OK so the homer is mad because other people like their team the best!  The Gators are good for fourth on the active home sellout list.  Behind Michegan and Notre Dame.... Doesn't it seem weird that a school like Florida should be that high on the list? We have the second highest home winning percentage at home in the last 18 years.... great your fans went to Notre Dame's stadium.... That would never happen at the Swamp!!  Keep trying maybe you'll have a winning record this year!

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Applicable points scorpion, but you are just seeing the perspective of kids who have no historical perspective.

The choice varies from year to year in the most literal sense, as whoever goes unbeaten in a given year would qualify as they held serve.

I'm basing this on the fans, who really don't change from year-to-year, unlike the players.
Anyway, this is a tough choice because you really have two separate issues:
1) Toughest place to play because of the fans. (Rowdy, though not in a bad way)
2) Best Atmosphere because of the fans. (Classy)

1: 127 decibals...are you kidding me??? LSU is pure insanity with  their football crazed fans
2: Nebraska. They have the classiest fans, bar none! Memorial Stadium fans have been known to give opponents a standing ovation if deserved: they know , love, and appreciate good football.

Other Places of note alphabetically: Autzen, Beaver Stadium, Between the Hedges, The Big House, Bronco Stadium, Bryant-Denny, Camp Randall, Darryl Royal Memorial, Death Valley, Doak Campbell, The Horseshoe,  Jordan-Hare, Kyle Stadium, Lane Stadium, Mountaineer Field, Notre Dame Stadium, Oklahoma-Memorial, The Swamp.

Side Note: Best Tailgating: Neyland Stadium (Tennessee), Husky Stadium (Washington). The only two venues that you can drive to in your car or boat.

Best stadium after a game: Aloha Stadium; hey, there's a reason they call Hawaii paradise!!!

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

I'm reading your posts and am in total disbelief. Ask any Nebraska fan about Notre Dame's home field advantage. Nebraska travelled to South Bend a few years ago and outnumbered the Notre Dame fans in their own building. FACT. When Notre Dame travelled to Lincoln, you couldn't find a group of Fightin' Irish in the SEA OF RED. 294 consecutive sellouts, a record that will never be broken.

I thought you all would take this seriously, but after reading all the Pete Carroll for coach of this team, its no wonder.

The Greatest College Team Needs A Stadium!

Gotta be Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, aka The Swamp.  With 88,000+ rabid fans standing and cheering right on top of the field, it's incredible.
